Standard Weapons And Items[edit]

Grappling Hook Tenchu1-Items-Grapplinghook.png With you at all times. An essential tool for reaching high places, (rooftops, tree branches, mountains, etc) or just to pass long passages. The Grappling Hook is aimed and thrown in a straight line, and will cling to just about anything. After the hook connects, you will be zipped along the rope to the other end. Aim for ledges to end up hanging from them.
Shuriken Tenchu1-Items-Shuriken.png Ninja Throwing Stars. They are useful to strike or distract enemies from a distance. They can be used to kill unaware dogs and wolves in 1 hit, and most guards in 3 hits. They can be thrown quickly, which can be useful in boss battles or close encounter fights. They cause about 15 points of health damage. Shurikens that miss your target can be picked up and used again.
Healing Potion Tenchu1-Items-Healingpotion.png Drinking a healing potion will restore your health to 100%. You are vulnerable to attacks while drinking a potion, which takes about 3 seconds, so be sure to be in a safe area before use. Some bosses will attempt to use a healing potion of their own, if you attack them while they are drinking, they will drop the potion.
Caltrops Tenchu1-Items-Caltrops.png Spiked metal pieces are scattered behind you. They are used as a trap to slow pursuing guards and bosses. Enemies that step on caltrops will be damaged about 3 health points and will hop around momentarily while grabbing their injured foot, giving you a chance to get away. Beware, you may accidentally step on caltrops yourself and suffer the same situation, leaving you open to attacks.
Grenades Tenchu1-Items-Grenade.png Extremely useful for boss battles, or groups of enemies. These weapons are thrown a short distance in front of you. They will explode and cause about 30 points of health damage to surrounding enemies, blowing them back. This will give you a chance to use a health potion or escape. Beware, you can be caught in an explosion if you are too close. Occasionally you will throw a grenade and it will not detonate, this is a dud. To use a dud, pick it it up and throw it again.
Smoke Bombs Tenchu1-Items-Smokebomb.png The main use of smoke bombs is to stun enemies and buy time to either escape, attack, or use a health potion. They are thrown like grenades in front of you. They create a small cloud of smoke that temporarily blinds and confuses your enemy. Some bosses carry smoke bombs and they will use them against you.
Mines Tenchu1-Items-Mine.png Mines are a powerful trap. They are placed on the ground and set to explode when stepped on. Once a mine is set, it cannot be picked up again. Mines explode on contact and cause about 35 points of damage. Useful for placing in the path of an unsuspecting enemy, or pursuing boss. Be careful, you can accidentally step on a mine and be severely injured or killed.
Poisoned Rice Balls Tenchu1-Items-Poisonedrice.png A great, multiple use lure item. When used, it is tossed a distance in front of you. Any unaware guards or animals that see the rice ball will be completely distracted and drawn to it. This can be a great way to break up groups of enemies. Once a guard or animal reaches the rice ball they will begin to eat it and shortly after, become paralyzed and stunned from the poison for a brief moment. If you can kill the enemy before they eat the rice ball, you may pick it up and use it again and again.
Colored Rice Tenchu1-Items-Coloredrice.png Used as a marker for keeping track of your surroundings. Once placed, a marker will show up on your map. This is considered to be the least useful item in the game.
