The Map[edit]

Once you visited every place and solved all the puzzles, you will be able to complete the map.

The map, starting from the sun, is connected by a single path that goes through each tarot representation. If you are aware of how the are connected, it will be easy to solve the puzzle by placing each piece as you discover them.

NOTE: If playing on the Executor emulator as recommended by the author, there is a chance completing the map will crash the game. Save before finishing, and if you still can't continue, check the author's website for a workaround.

The Treasures[edit]

Once you have completed the map, you need to solve the puzzles to obtain the treasures. Throughout the story, you should see emphasized words (either colored or bolded) that give clues concerning the treasures.

These treasures are entered in the Book of Thoth, exclaiming where the treasure is found. However, they must be first uncovered. To help with this, there are sections on the sun's map that may be invoked - see the puzzle description at the top-right to see which ones may be selected. You may also shift-click to zoom into a given region, and quickly view the contents of any hints located there.

The map has several notations. However, the most common one is a roman numeral, indicating how many of a given tarot suit is related to a given time (e.g. X means 10).

The Kings are Confused[edit]

As mentioned in The Archway, it is said that between the four kings, one of the land's lost treasures will be restored. There are twelve letters to find.

Symbol King Map
Wands S U O
Pentacles B Z E
Cups T T R
Swords E N A

There are three letters per kingdom - one in the symbol of lordship (found after the Queen), one with the king, and one on the map containing the king. These letters are shown to the right.

When re-arranged, they will form BRONZE STATUE. Enter this in the first line of the Book of Thoth.

Within the Kingdom of the Pentacles[edit]

Within the Kingdom of the Pentacles, there are two people that need words. They must be entered in the grill located just above the maze. At the top is the Page of Pentacles, who needs the four following words on the path: YES, ERA, SIP and TOP. The other is the Merchant, who needs the words of those who precede him, starting with the Blacksmith. They would be AIH, ROI, MYR, and FIE.

Once you have the words, enter it into the book of thoth.

The Queens are confused[edit]

In their audience with the Fool, they each rewarded him with magic words: CLAC, TRSC, YNAL, and EKE.

This is an anagram of Crystal Necklace, which must be recorded in the Book of Thoth.

Within the Kingdom of Wands[edit]

The Canopy, The Fighting Boys, The Stong Wall and The Watchtower have odd words spoken by the residents. These are each two three-letter words, that are placed in their associated segment in the grid. Once you retrieve the ruby ring from the grill, record it in the Book of Thoth.

The Path of Six is disguised[edit]

At the Three ships, there is a mention about the man being first of six. This is part of a chain that follows six different regions, and appears in the story in-order.. To locate the path of six, you must do the following:

  • Find the starting point. As mentioned, Three Ships is the first one.
  • Find the one who chases a fish. This is the page of cups, who's tiny fish jumped out of a cup and ran towards sea.
  • Find the one with two swords. You can consult the map, looking for "II" within the kingdom of swords (to the upper-left). This is The Chant.
  • Find the family who departs by boat. This is a direct reference by name to The Boat.
  • Find the Broken Wheel. There is a broken wheel visible on the map, pointing to the Chariot.
  • Find the Thief. Can be found in the menu directly.

When put in order, the magic words are RW KD EZC YH HA RW. This doesn't make sense yet, since the letters are changed. To decode them, click on the string of letters to the left of the king, and enter them in order. This produces the Onyx Medallion, which should be recorded.

The mystic chant is disguised[edit]

The mystical chant is found in the stream. NZSLTZMB HGZUU. This is the text 'MAHOGANY STAFF' encoded with a reflection cypher: F is the 6th letter from the start of the alphabet and becomes U, the 6th letter from the end and so on.

Click on the lower string of letters, and enter the cyhpered chant. This produces the Mahogany Staff, which should be recorded.

The knights and pages are confused[edit]

In the map, each region occupied by a knight or page has a letter. In order, they are: S D L U D T O G.

It is an anagram. Once you remove Gold, you are left with S U D T. Solve the rest, and you get Gold Dust.

The Maze of Thorns is disguised[edit]

TFD Maze of Thorns.png

The Maze of Thorns is more of a small parody of adventure games. You have to fetch various items within the maze, in order to remove the three guardians.

First, you must locate the eleven residents of the maze (as shown in white in the picture). Once you found them all, you can then head to the southwest and start collecting items. The useful items in the map are shown in green or by a coloured dot - they indicate where they will be used. Other items exist in the alcoves, but are of no use.

Once you get the bronze key, you can go through the door and use the spell to get rid of it. Once you have the silver key, you can get rid of the sprite. With the gold key, you can get the spell required to banish the fire demon. To banish the demon, you have to enter the north-east corner of the maze to get rid of him.

Exiting the maze produces two words: XLPFYVX ENPAZGZJ. Enter this in the top-most secret code to get the Diamond bracelet and record it in the Book of Thoth.

The Hierophant is disguised and confused[edit]

The Hierophant, as well as four other people before him, have been giving a set of numbers. 6, 13, 15, 2, 20, 14, 8, 15, 16, 16, 15, 24, 2.

The code is found on the map - a set of numbers are in the corners of some squares, next to a letter in the adjacent square. From here, you can decode the numbers to AD ERO WFE LL EMR - which is another anagram.

This will unscramble to Emerald Flower, which should then be recorded.

If Justice be done...[edit]

Justice stats that the Emperor must take what is his from what is hers. The empress has a VILE SHADOW and FIVE CIRCLE, while the emperor has a WIF DOVE. The instructions are to remove one letter from the empress for each corresponding letter in the emperor. This leaves LSHAIVECIRCLE, an anagram.

This anagram is unscrambled to Silver Chalice, which is then recorded in the book.

Within the Kingdom of the Swords[edit]

The Kingdom of Swords is located at the top-left of the map, and there are four things to obtain.

The High Priestess demands the words on the Tower and on Death - they are QM and ZA. The Sentry wants the blood of a man killed by 10 (The Dead Warrior, PUS), and the weapon of an outnumbered Warrior (The Warrior, BOW). In the Dream, you need to collect the three words from the Wheel of Fortune, obtained by clicking on it in the Sun's Map. And the Nightmare is the song EG LI OC, as found in The Singer.

The magic sword is now identified.

Follow the straight path[edit]

TFE The Straight Path.png

The Hermit tells you to start at a J, and Judgement gives directions to follow the route.

Based on the size of the directions, the starting point is somewhere at the bottom-right corner. Look for a J, and if it begins to form a treasure, you are on the right path. If you get the treasure, write it in the book.

Within the Kingdom of the Cups...[edit]

The Kingdom of Cups is to the northeast, but it is jagged.

First, you need get the word of the Star (ERR) and the word of the Pyramids for The Children. The pyramids has their word spread across it's three sides, starting from The Pyramids and going counter-clockwise (spelling HEX). The Couple provides the word CARE, while needing the words of the Devil (DEAD) and Despair (GRIEF). The Dancers provide the words LEAP and JOY. The Family provides WISH, and needs the three words of fertile seeds (See The Knight of Pentacles for TWHEA, ERCI, NCRO, which must be unscrambled to wheat, rice and corn). The Not-A-Merchant gives the word NINE.

The only clue about which order to place them is the Not-A-Merchant, who says he is the last. However, it is not too difficult to discover the correct order and retrieve the Jeweled Crown treasure.

Eight in the land are disguised[edit]

As mentioned at The Page of Swords, there are eight giant letters across the land. They are in a large, decorative font.

When you follow the path, these letters are DRBUFVYU, and are encrypted. Use the right-hand secret code column to decode it to Amethyst.

Finale[edit]

To unlock the finale, you must enter all treasures in the Book of Thoth. When it's ready, you will have to launch it manaully from the DOS prompt or Mac OS, as provided in the final instructions.

TFE Finale.png

This is an anagram puzzle, but you will need to change some letters. First, write down the letters surrounding the stars: TTT, EK, HHH, OOO, FBO. Follow the instructions at the bottom to change the letters around - swap the first capital letter in the line with the second capital letter. This provides the letters TTT, EL, HHA, OOO, FDE.

This is then decoded to DEATH TO THE FOOL.
