You see a couple of establishing shots highlighting the influence on the Empire of Japan ever since opening its doors to the rest of the world, especially to the Great Britain. The cutscene then cuts to a mostly empty La Carneval and then BANG!! The hand of a dead man falls to the side from the gunfire as the attention of two of the restaurant's attendees and the waiter are grabbed to the direction of the shot. Last thing we're shown is the police coming inside the restaurant as we see a horrified Ryunosuke Naruhodo standing in front of the dead man with a pistol in his hand. Wait, but that'd be you! What is going on here?

An English professor invited to Japan to teach new students. His status and background only makes this case more intense.

The prosecutor you face against. He is the ancestor of the Payne family, and similarly, treats rookies condescendingly.

A soldier who was dining at La Carneval. Has a son who he brought to court with, on his back.

An old man who owns an antique store. He was dining with Iyesa at La Carneval. He is a peculiar man who likes to refer to himself as "this one".
Jezaille Brett
A foreign exchange student from Great Britain who attends Imperial Yumei University. She was dining at La Carneval with her teacher, John Wilson. She is currently studying in the medical department.

Kazuma Asogi
Naruhodo's best friend and a college student attending Imperial Yumei University. He was gifted with the chance to study abroad due to his astounding skills. He was originally going to defend Naruhodo. Gives you advice and tips throughout the trial.
Yujin Mikotoba
A professor at Imperial Yumei University and father of Susato Mikotoba. He was the one who invited John Wilson over to Japan to teach.

The daughter of Professor Mikotoba. She can usually be seen with her father.
