The Immortal has a small number of characters involved in its story.

Main Character[edit]

This is you, an unnamed old wizard who apprenticed under Mordamir 40 years ago. After being summoned in a dream, you are in search of your master in the ruins of Erinoch.

Erek[edit]

A fighter who accompanied Dunric but did not go far enough. His body is found at the very beginning of Level 1, and on it you find Dunric's Ring and a Fireball spell (which is not in the NES version).

Ulindor[edit]

Ulindor is Mordamir's servant and bodyguard. He is first found in Level 1 and he gives you a key if you save him from a goblin. Ulindor is also found in Level 4 and gives you a magic carpet to allow you from being eaten by worms. He is seen again in Level 7 after you have met Dunric and attempts to kill you. It is revealed that he had kidnapped Ana.

Arinar[edit]

An Elven Lord who was poisoned while battling the Shadowlord. He came to the Labyrinth of Eternity looking for the Fountain of Youth but on the second day he was killed by Slimes. You find his bones near the beginning of Level 2 and can take his sword, Solondul.

Lindli[edit]

A Dwarf working as locksmith of Erinoch. He lost his home and family 1000 years ago when the Dragon came against the wizards and destroyed the city. He went mad and cursed the wizards for what happened and tries to keep the Labyrinth locked. He is found in Level 2 with an emerald and he gives it to you if you use the Dust of Complaisance; he then disappears behind a wall.

His "locks" can be found at the end of some levels and need to be solved.

Omar Nadir al Kahlil[edit]

The shopkeeper appears twice: Once in level 2 to sell you a potion that protects your boots from green slime enemies. You can haggle to achieve a better price (60gp) (this potion is optional as practically it is possible to walk past the slime if you are fast and lucky enough). He appears again in level 5 to sell you a shrinking potion.

It is revealed later that the Shopkeeper is Mordamir who helps you reach your goal.

Will-O-Wisps[edit]

Mysterious beings of light, either disebodied spirits or creatures of the elements. They attack all living flesh. They are found in Level 2. Mordamir develope a Charm to tame them.

Gresh the Wise[edit]

The Goblin King of the Druul tribe. You encounter him in level 2 heavily guarded. He carries a key to the next level. When you approach him he is protected by traps so you must kill him with spores. Being given water he gives you the key and tells you the combination of the mechanism to open the way to the next level.

He appears to die but is found alive again in Level 3. The Proteus Ring doesn't work on him. If you had offered him water he allows you get to the troll lair of the Shindrak. If not he opens a trap for you to fall in.

Ana[edit]

Dunric's daughter. She had been kidnapped by Ulindor but she escaped thanks to her skills in sorcery, losing her ring. She can be briefly seen behind walls on Level 3 (Troll lair) and Level 4. Her ring can be found on Level 4. You meet her later in a tunnel having escaped her captors. If you give her ring she gives you another ring in return and tells you Lindli's secret to open the opening to the next level. She also appears at the ending of the game and leave the dungeon together.

If you don't give the ring to her, a goblin will come to save you instead.

The Goblin Conference[edit]

Found in level five, these goblins wish you to distract the Norlac, which happens in level 7. In level 7, the attempt to open the sluice gate while you distract the Norlac.

The Programmers[edit]

In the worm room in level six, there is a staircase that leads down to a hallway full of programmers. If you bring them coffee, they will be pleased and give you a Stench Bomb that allows you to bypass the battles in level seven. They are missing from some versions of the game.

The Norlac[edit]

In level 7, the Norlac is a water monster which is threatening the goblins. It's your job to chase it down while the goblins attempt to open the sluice gate. Watch out for its tentacles, because if you get to close, you will be killed instantly.

Dunric[edit]

Another apprentice of Mordamir's, you hear of him at the beginning of the game, where Mordamir's vision calls for him as he was sent to rescue him before you. Dunric is the father of Ana and is accompanied by Erek; they are also trapped in the dungeon. According to Mordamir's notes, he interfered with the war of the goblins and trolls, who then kidnapped Ana. His ring is of great importance and is found in Level 1, in Erek's body. Dunric is found in level 7 tortured by a Troll. He reveals that Mordamir actually isn't being held captive and is behind everything; he also kidnapped Ana. Once you give him his ring, he teaches you 3 spells, used for the final battle.

Mordamir[edit]

The "Wizard of Crimson Keep", is your master. He was originally a wizard of Erinoch and fought against the dragons in order to claim the Fountain of Youth. Believed to have died mysteriously, he summons you to rescue him from the depths of the dungeons and it is your quest to rescue him. He wrote the Codex of the Serpent, the hints in the game manual. He needs you to battle the Dragon and open for him the way for the Fountain, and for this he has helped you progress in the form of the Shopkeeper.

The Dragon[edit]

The Dragoness is the last survivor of the dragons who guarded the fountain of youth. 1000 years ago he came and destroyed Erinoch to punish the wizards. Now he resides at the very bowels of the dungeon where Mordamir waits for you. It is caught in a conflict with Mordamir. You are caught up in this conflict and have a chance to affect its outcome.
