Controls[edit]

  • Joystick: Use the 8-way joystick to make your chosen assassins walk left and right, crouch, and pick up weapons; if it gets pushed left or right twice in succession, your chosen assassins will switch from a walk to a dash (much like both Mirai Ninja in his self-titled game and Sygnus in Finest Hour).
  • Attack Button: Use this button to make your chosen assassin punch and use weapons; it may also be used in conjunction with the joystick for other additional attacks which are specific to your chosen assassin (for example, Professor Ching can attack by using the claw on his electric wheelchair).
  • Jump Button: Use this button to make your chosen assassin jump; it may also get used in conjunction with pushing the joystick up or down to make your assassin jump up or down to the level above or below (like Albatross in both Rolling Thunder arcade games, and Leila Blitz in the second one).
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to start the game, as player 1 or player 2; if another player inserts a coin into the cabinet and pushes the inactive side's button during a one-player game, the text "SOMEONE IS TAKING AIM ON YOU!" will appear on the screen, and the game will return to the assassin selection screen. In a two-player game, only the assassin left standing by the time the other six have been defeated shall proceed to Mr. Acme's house for the final battle - and if the surviving assassin is the second player, their energy bar will be moved to the left side of the screen.

Weapons[edit]

There are nine main weapons in this game: Boxes can be picked up by your assassin and thrown onto the other one's head to disorient them for a short period of time, while Oil Drums can be picked up and thrown directly at opposing assassins to cause an explosion on impact. Guns can be picked up by your assassin for seven shots at the other one - and although most of the assassins can shoot them in four directions wheelchair-bound Professor Ching cannot. Machine Guns can also get picked up by your assassin for eighty shots at the other one; most of the assassins can fire them in eight directions, but wheelchair-bound Professor Ching again cannot. Rocket Launchers can again be picked up by your assassin for three shots at the other one, each one causing an explosion on impact - but if your assassin is too close to the blast they shall also lose energy from it. Flamethrowers can once again be picked up by your assassin to set them alight; most of the assassins can again fire them in eight directions, but wheelchair-bound Professor Ching once again cannot (and if your assassin is touched by the other one while they are inflamed they shall be set alight too). Grenades can be picked up by your assassin, have their pins pulled to activate a 4-second timer and thrown at the opposing one before it explodes - but again, if your assassin is too close to the blast, they will also lose energy from it. Swords can be picked up by your assassin to stab the opposing one (and they will not lose them until the next time they are hit); finally, Whips can be picked up by your assassin to lash the opposing one, and although most of the assassins can swing them in eight directions, wheelchair-bound Professor Ching yet again cannot (and your assassin will, again, not lose them until the next time they take a hit).

There are also twelve secondary weapons in the game that are exclusive to specific assassins' stages: the Fruit Basket, Chair, Palm Tree, Computer, Safe, Swivel Chair, Model Skyscraper, Hot Soup, and Pie are exclusive to John Smith's skyscraper, and can get picked up and thrown in the manner of the Oil Drums (only without the explosion on impact); the Tool and Missile, however, are exclusive to Professor Ching's laboratory (but work in much the same way). Finally, the Coal Lumps are exclusive to Bernard White's steam train (named Jupiter after the planet), and again work in the same way.
