Drink water[edit]

If you run out of water, you and Gorn will die of thirst. It is therefore necessary to buy a waterskin.

You can refill the waterskin at various locations.

  • Central Balema: there is a lake to the west, before the forest.
  • West Balema: there is a fresh water pond at the end of a southwards road.
  • North Balema: you can refill the waterskin in the river, near the bridge or the waterfall; there is also another water source, harder to find.

Disk 1: central Balema[edit]

Castle provisioner
  • Read the list.
  • Necessary item: waterskin.
  • Strongly recommended items: cartograph, lantern.
  • Notice the book shelf in the picture.

Balema Bayou
  • Location: approximately west from King Galt's castle.
  • Drink water and refill the waterskin.
  • Read the sign. If it is unclear, walk west into the bayou to understand better...

Hermit's cave
  • Location: approximately south from King Galt's castle.
  • Ask anything to the hermit, and he will reply that you have to pay him. He accepts any number of Gold Sovereigns.

Swamp
  • Location: south from the bayou, west from the hermit.
  • Go south and give a better look at the skeleton.

Lisa's home
  • Location: west of the forest, at the end of the road
  • She checks your fingers for a reason: she will join your party only if a certain condition is satisfied.

Forest pit
  • Location: in the middle of the forest, away from the roads.
  • Go down, do one action, come up, then repeat.
  • If Gorn is carrying too many items, he will be unable to climb up.
  • Graphics mode is useful to understand what you can interact with.

Ancient ruins
  • Location: south of the forest, west of the swamp.
  • The lizardmen are too strong for Gorn alone. If you manage to defeat them, check the visible items.
  • You can escape the lizard-men by going down into the dungeon (disk 2), but you need a lit lantern.

Disk 2: west Balema[edit]

Balema Beach
  • Location: follow the road west across the forest, then go south at the first fork.
  • You can swim to an islet while Gorn waits on the beach.
  • Coming back is difficult, because of sharks; think of a way to completely avoid the water on the way back.

  • Location: follow the road west across the forest, then go south at the second fork.
  • Read the sign before you refill the waterskin.

Border station n.1
  • Location: after the forest, go all the way north.
  • The guards warn you against the Red Dragoon, a human knight (notice the double OO in dragoon).
  • If you continue past the guards, the Red Dragoon will send you to his jail (game over).

Village
  • Location: follow the road west across the forest, then go north at the second fork, then west, then south.
  • A cutscene occurs here.

Crystal clear pond
  • Location: south of the village.
  • Drink water and refill the waterskin.

Sphinx
  • In the far north-west, a sphinx guards a cave. In order to enter the cave, you have to answer its riddle correctly.
  • Focus on the last line, and completely ignore the rest of the rhyme (The sphinx says: "The question to answer is: What am I?").
Western dungeon
  • One entrance is guarded by the sphinx, another entrance is from the ancient ruins in Central Balema.
  • The dragon can be found here. Brute force is useless: you should rather communicate with it.

Disk 2: north Balema[edit]

Border stations n.2-3-4
  • Location: go straight north from King's Galt castle, then take different paths at the crossroad.
  • They warn you against the Red Dragoon, a human knight (notice the double OO in dragoon).
  • If you continue past the guards, the Red Draggon will send you to his jail (game over).

General store
  • Location: go straight north from King's Galt castle, then go west at the crossroad, then south
  • He sells the same items as the provisioner in the castle, except for the books and the "cartograph" (map), that is replaced by salt.
    • Items that you already purchased in the castle are omitted from the list.

Destroyed village
  • Just flavor.

Desert
  • There are two places of interest in the desert:
  • Tree-lined cliff: it is along the eastern border of the desert. While you walk along it, Gorn points out a specific spot.
  • Oasis: somewhere in the middle of the desert. Drink water and refill the waterskin.

Small forest
  • A group of bandits will surround you and Gorn, and steal everything you carry, except for the waterskin.
  • There is a way to prevent getting robbed. Fighting is valiant, but useless.

  • Drink water and refill the waterskin.
  • Since you can hear a hollow sound, tell Gorn to look at the waterfall.
  • An oilskin can keep something dry.
Cliffside cave
  • There are two ways to reach it: either from below or from above, using two different items.
