Floor 51[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 51.png

Time: 30, Treasure: Warp

Depending on the choice you make, this level is incredibly easy, or somewhat challenging. If you decide to collect the key and leave, the only obstacle you will face is a lone orange fire cannon just above the entrance that is fairly easy to deal with.

However, there is more of the floor to the right. And it is divided into two sections. Along the bottom is a narrow hallway with an orange fire cannon on the far right side. There is also a treasure chest there, but in order to collect it, you'll have to find some way to avoid the fireballs coming from the cannon. The only way to safely reach the chest is to intentionally hit Ki's head on the ceiling above so that she lands on the ground crouching while the fireball sails over her head. The timing for this must be exact. Too late, and you'll get hit by the fireball while you are falling. Too early, and you will stand back up before the fireball has passed. If you successfully collect the chest, remember to run back to safety on the left before the warp kicks in. Once it starts, this warp will send you to floor 58, just two floors away from the highest floor.

Finally, there's a small maze that you can make your way through in order to reach the "chest" in the upper right corner of the map. Once you get close enough, however, you will realize that the chest is hopping and little eyes are peering out. This is no chest at all, but rather a mimic which should be avoided.

Quox's warp: If you obtain the Blue Crystal Rod, you can use magic. By the way, the god of harvest was a fox. Was that a hint?

Floor 52[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 52.png

Time: 66, Treasure: Barrier

To get through this floor, you must be light on Ki's feet. Standing on top of the column to the left of the entrance is a blue wizard who only appears when he casts a spell. When he is invisible, you can safely pass through his position, you don't need to worry about colliding with him. Fall down the other side of the column to collect the Barrier from the chest on the bottom.

There are five threats that you must now successfully pass, and the Barrier will only protect you from one of them. After you hop over the jagged floor, there will be a small Rock Man rolling around on the other side of the next column, and a fire-shooting bee flying above him. Wait for the bee to return to the left, hop over the column, and land safely away from the Rock Man.

When you're ready to continue, jump up along the left side of the floor, and you will approach a leaping frog. Time your jump over the frog so that it is dropping back down and you don't have to worry about him hitting you as you pass over him. That leaves two fast moving quails to worry about. The chances that you will successfully drop down to the floor and avoid hitting one of them is incredibly small. Your Barrier should still be active, so chase after one of the quails as it moves to the right, and let it hit you as you land and jump back up to reach the exit.

Floor 53[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 53.png

Time: 90, Treasure: Candle

Yes, there's a lion on the platform above you. And while you may have become conditioned to fear the touch of just about every creature you see, you need not fear this one. In fact, if you touch the lion, you will receive a Barrier power-up! Not only that, but if you lose it, you can return to the lion and receive another Barrier any time. But don't rely on this help alone; the chests contain powerful spells that will substantially reduce the difficulty of this floor.

To start, jump up to the platform with the lion, but watch out for the jagged floor in front of him. Jump over and touch the lion, and then jump up to the platform above to collect the Silence spell and stop all of the enemies from casting magic. Then drop back down and collect the chest at the very bottom to obtain the Candle so you can see the position of the otherwise invisible ghosts. Head to the left and leap over the two red slimes. Then time your approach to the platform above so that you avoid the two ghosts flying in waves. On the level above are two more ghosts who fly straight at two different heights. If you still have the Barrier, you can collide with the lower ghost to remove him and make the stage easier, but you don't need to. In fact, you can run right behind the lower ghost as it moves to the left, and jump up between the two ghosts to reach the highest platform, collect the key, and escape.

Floor 54[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 54.png

Time: 117, Treasure: Ring

There's a lot going on in this rather large floor. You should start by jumping up to the platform above the entrance and below the Salamander. Wait for the Salamander to spit out a fireball, and then rise up and fly over the Roper that occupies the platform above the Salamander. After another fireball appears, drop down to collect the Ring from the chest alongside the Salamander. Now you can safely pass through the Will o'Wisps.

Ignore the path above the Roper, or to the right of the entrance, as they lead to a narrow hallway patrolled by two Beholders. It's possible to get through here by bumping Ki's head, but it's far more trouble than it's worth. Since you have the Ring, all you need to do is walk under the gap to the left of the entrance, rise up past a Will o'Wisp, and bare left as you climb. You'll reach a platform with a column on the left. The key can be seen above and to the left of the column. Jump off the column to collect the key, and simply drop down to the exit below.

Floor 55[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 55.png

Time: 104, Treasure: none

Tower of Druaga Floor 55

Floor 55 is a bit of an odd floor. To understand this floor better it helps to be familiar with The Tower of Druaga. Floor 55 of Druaga was infamous for being one of the few floors with no treasure chest. Before that was confirmed to be the case, players ceasingly tried to make one appear, but their efforts were futile. So it's fitting that in The Quest of Ki, this floor does not have any treasure. But that's not the only thing that this floor shares in common with Druaga. If you compare the map of the floor (shown right) with the map of the original floor as it is presented in Druaga (shown left), you'll see that a good chunk of the right portion is identical on both maps. You may explore the right side of this floor if you like, but all you will find is a considerably dangerous labyrinth with a multitude of jagged floors and difficult jumps, with no reward for your hard work.

Instead, you'll wish to focus entirely on the left side, dropping down to the floor below the entrance in order to collect the key that lies down there. But to get the key, you must pass two instances of a new enemy known as the Mad Element. They are like a cross between a Roper with no arms, and a Giant Leech, except they rise up from the ground, and there's no indication on the ground where they will appear from. Step slowly along the bottom and wait for them to appear. Then carefully jump over both of them, collect the key, and retrace your steps to get back out. Then jump all the way up along the left wall until you rise above a column. Watch the red slime below carefully, and fall down to its right after it stops casting spells upward. There's another Mad Element to its right, but you won't need to deal with it. Simply jump up the gap in the ceiling above and make your way straight to the exit. Exploring anywhere else in this floor is done at your own risk.

Floor 56[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 56.png

Time: 34, Treasure: empty, empty, empty

There are three treasure chests located in this floor, but you may be a bit disappointed when you examine them. The first one is on the bottom to the left of the entrance. But if you run over and open it, you'll find that it's empty. The second chest is above the left blue wizard. You must carefully time your approach so that you fly up between the left and right blue wizards who cast spells in opposite directions, and steer clear of the Roper hanging from the ceiling. But if you make it to this one, it too will be empty. Above this chest is the exit door, and the key can be found to the right of the same gap you must rise through to reach the door. There is still one more treasure chest, but to get to it, you must pass a blue wizard, and then very carefully time your approach when you attempt to slip past a Will o'Wisp. Even if you take the risk and survive, you will find that this last treasure chest too is entirely empty. Don't bother putting Ki's life at risk, and head straight for the exit.

Floor 57[edit]

Time: 69, Treasure: Gift

One final new enemy is introduced on this floor. Like their smaller quail counterparts, the Axe Beaks are a larger variant of the fast moving bird that runs back and forth along certain platforms. To complete this floor, you must pass three of them, along with a single blue Beholder. Start out by running left to collect the key. Then run back to the right, and jump up to the first platform so that you land just behind the Axe Beak when it starts running to the left. Run behind it, watch out for the Behold floating above, and jump up to the next platform so that you, once again, land behind it when it's running to the right. If you time your landing wrong, you can jump out into space and wait for the bird to run back, and then land on the platform with some forward momentum. Then jump up to the next platform with the third Axe Beak before jumping up to the final platform where you can collect the Gift from the treasure, and escape from the floor.

Floor 58[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 58.png

Time: 74, Treasure: Ring, Wing, Gift

Floor 58 is like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book. There are two different approaches that you can take and they both require that you backtrack a little. The treasure on the right is a Ring, while the treasure on the left is a Wing.

If you wish to collect the Ring first, you would head to the right of the entrance, and jump up past the Beholder. Watch out for the Giant Leech who drops down from the ceiling, and run to the left when you land on the platform to collect the Ring. Now you must backtrack to the entrance and run to the left. Jump up to the platform above, watching out for another Giant Leech in the ceiling, and then run to the right until you see a red slime. Jump up above the worm crawling on the platform above, and continue to the left until you see another treasure chest. This one contains the Wing, but you won't need it at this point. Simply jump up, past the Will o'Wisp that the Ring protects you from, and head right to reach the exit (jump over the exit if you wish to collect the 10,000 bonus point gift first).

If, however, you decide to collect the Wing first, run left from the entrance, and follow the same steps outlined above to collect the Wing from the treasure chest below the Will o'Wisp. Then return to the exit, and rise up the right side to collect the Ring. From here, you must use the power of the Wing to carefully fly above the anemone, but below the flame shot out by the Fire Cannon, and hover over the length of the jagged floor that runs to the right. When it is safe, rise up to the platform above, collect the Gift, then run past the exit to collect the key, and then turn around to escape from the floor.

Floor 59[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 59.png

Time: 112, Treasure: Candle, Barrier, Wing, Silence

Ishtar's preamble: Well done Ki! You're almost at the top floor.

There are a number of treasure chests on this floor, and while you may choose not to collect all of them, you'll definitely need some of them. Start by collecting the chest directly above the entrance. It's guarded by a blue ghost that flies around in a wave, firing spells every now and then. Time your approach carefully so that you collect the Candle from the chest when the blue ghost is flying high above you.

Then drop down and proceed to the left, watching out for the patches of jagged floor along the bottom. When you reach the bottom left corner, you have a choice. You can jump straight up and ignore the chest to the right, or duck into the passage to the right and test your ability to collect the Barrier. To do it, you must first watch out for the red slime on the bottom, then you must carefully time your approach to the chest so that you don't get hit by the fast moving Will o'Wisp. If you make it to the chest, you will receive the Barrier. But remember that Barrier won't protect you from the Will o'Wisp. Whether you choose to continue by going up, or return the way you came is entirely up to you, but you must safely avoid the Will o'Wisp a second time. Don't waste the Barrier on either of the Slimes.

Whether you collect the Barrier or not, the key to the exit is directly above the lower left corner. Continue rising after you collect it, and you will see a flame-spitting bee flying above another chest at the top. Time your approach to that chest when the bee is flying to the right, and collect the Wings from inside. Then backtrack to the left, and drop down to the platform below. You'll see another chest sitting on a jagged floor. You can only safely collect this chest by using the Wing. Hover over it carefully, and you'll be able to grab the Silence spell from the chest before you hit the spikes.

Now drop down the right side, and carefully time your approach to the two orange ghosts that are floating in the space below. Watch how they fly and move between them as they hove back and forth. Head to the far right side, and when it's safe, jump up to the platform above with the single red slime. Time your approach to the left so that you can safely make it up to the exit (or simply crash into the Red Slime if you still have the Barrier at this point), and escape to the 60th and final floor.

Floor 60[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 60.png

Time: 180, Treasure: none

Pleasant music will be played when you reach this floor. The floor is essentially divided into five long hallways, but the only hallway of any consequence is the third one in the middle. As soon as Ki arrives on this level, the timer will stop, and the game will take over. Ki will walk over and locate her long sought objective: the Blue Crystal Rod.

However, upon reaching it, the rod will divide into three rods, creating a red and green crystal rod as well. The red and green crystal rods will fly off, and the blue rod will vanish. The shadow of Druaga will appear against the wall, and Ki will be transformed into a stone. Druaga will appear and the game will end. An epilogue will be shown, explaining that this is how Ki was transformed into the state that Gil finds her once he ascends to the 60th floor of The Tower of Druaga in order to rescue her. The division of the rod allows the Imperial Knights to escape, it mutates the kind spirit of the Quox into an evil spirit, and divides the Quox into two more dragons, the Silver and Black dragon.

After the epilogue, the credits are displayed, and a special thank you is given to the team at Atari which developed Major Havoc. When the credits are over, you may select "Continue Game" in order to access the Special Stages, which begin with floor 61.
