Floor 61[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 61.png

Time: 60, Treasure: Wing, Warp, Gift

Ishtar's preamble: Finally, it's the start of the Special Stages. There's nothing more I can say, good luck Ki!

When you begin, you can see the key hovering amongst some of the mines that are found in Bosconian. Rather than rely on fancy footwork to safely get through those mines, you should start by heading right, and picking up the Wing. A Will o'Wisp flies up and down the height of the floor, making it relatively easy to time your movements so that you avoid hitting it. Jump up to the platform above, and run across to the chest when it's safe. You'll collect the wing.

Don't bother trying to jump up and collect the chest at the top to the right of the owl. It contains a warp, but the newly evil Silver dragon will prevent you from using the warp. After being warned, you will begin again from the start of this very floor. From now on, any attempts to collect a warp item will actually send you backward through the tower, sometimes even below the special stages! Although you can't know the contents of each chest until you look at them (or read this guide), be especially careful when collecting chests.

Instead, return to the bottom level, go left past the entrance, and use the wing to carefully hover over and under the mines until you collect the key. Use the platform below to stabilize yourself and move to safe positions, and make sure you are not holding B button in order to maintain better control of Ki while she moves. Once you collect the key, you must return to the left and walk beneath the mine directly below the key in order to proceed up to the platform above. Before the exit, you will find a chest with a 10,000 bonus point gift.

Silver dragon warp: Hey! You're not permitted to use these warps.

Floor 62[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 62.png

Time: 60, Treasure: none

Floor 62 is considerably smaller than the first special stage. Head to the right and jump up to reach the first platform. It contains a bunch of Mushkins from Namco's lesser known game Libble Rabble, which simply hop back and forth rather slowly. A frog is mounted on the column in the middle of the platform. Time your jump over it and be careful when landing on the other side between the two Mushkins. Floating back and forth above you like a raven is Inky from the far more popular Pac-Man. Time your jump as you rise past him, and up to the platform containing the exit. There is no chest in this floor.

Floor 63[edit]

Time: 60, Treasure: Gift

Another small floor, start out by jumping up to the right of the entrance and collecting the key. Then you must slip past the Beholder on the left. The safest way to do this is to run to the column on the far left, and begin your jump just as the Beholder is about to bounce off the column. Rise up to the platform with the worm, and prepare to jump over a new enemy. The red cat Nyamco is from the game Mappy, and he acts like a more frequently jumping frog. Jumping over him will take special timing. Watch out for the worm on the platform beyond Nyamco, and then jump up to the last platform, collecting the Gift from the chest before you reach the exit.

Floor 64[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 64.png

Time: 50, Treasure: Candle, Timer, Cross, Silence, Orb

You'll need just about every chest in this floor, and you'll have to go back and forth between the bottom and top to collect them all. Start off by collecting the chest just to the right of the entrance to gain the Silence spell. While you're there, note the Vampire to your right. Then jump up to the platform with the slug, and hop over him and to the platform on the right to collect the Timer. Then come back to the left, and jump up to the higher platform to collect the Candle. Now you will have rendered the invisible ghost below less dangerous.

Return to the entrance, and slip down the left side to the ledge below. Watch the orange ghost and drop down to the bottom level when the ghost floats away to the right. Collect the Orb from the chest to remove the Ogre from the top of the level. Now you must make your way back to the top where the Ogre used to stand, and continue up to the next platform on the right. Run beyond it to collect the contents of the chest below, and you will find the Cross.

Now you must return to the entrance, and head to the right where you initially collected the Silence spell. The Vampire will be gone, allowing you to descend to the lower right corner of the floor, and collect the key. There's nothing left to do, but to head all the way back to the place where you collected the Cross from, and drop down to the platform below where you will find the exit.

Floor 65[edit]

Time: 60, Treasure: Candle

The irony of this floor is that the hardest part of it, the invisible ghosts, is solved immediately by collecting the treasure chest just to the right of the entrance. The Candle will make the three ghosts hovering back and forth immediately visible. Now you can jump up to the platform above, and walk slowly to the left behind the solitary ghost on the bottom. Before it hits the column and returns to the right, prepare to jump up to the platform above.

You'll have to time your approach to the next platform so that you don't get hit by the frog when it leaps up. Walk a short distance to the right, and you'll need to watch out for a spike that falls to the ground. After it lands, time your next leap so that you jump over both the spike and the frog behind it, and up to the platform above. You must watch out for both the anemone hanging out on the edge of the platform, and the bat which hovers just above it. When you land safely, make your way to the exit on your left.

Floor 66[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 66.png

Time: 60, Treasure: none

Ishtar's preamble: As the old saying goes, "Know which way the wind blows."

Isthar's words are rather important. On this level, there is a wind that will blow Ki in a particular direction when she jumps in the air. On this floor, it happens to be blowing to the right. As soon as Ki's feet leave the ground, you will notice that she floats to the right. You can counter this by pressing Left dpad with or without B button, but you will be far more effective while holding B button down. You will also be a little less precise, which will make landing on one of the columns above the jagged ground a little tricky, but it is important that you do so, or you will lose a life.

Once you land safely on either of the two leftmost columns, jump up to the highest platform, compensating for the wind as you rise. When you reach the top, head to the right and collect the key. Then drop down one level to the platform below, which is occupied by three black slimes. It's your choice whether you want to hop over each one one at a time, or launch yourself over all three (just make sure you get enough air). Once safely on the right, jump up to reach the platform containing the exit.

Floor 67[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 67.png

Time: 60, Treasure: Gift

From the entrance, be sure not to jump up to the platform with the blue slime until you see it bouncing around. If it's not bouncing, there's a chance it may cast a spell at you while you try to rise above it. From the platform with the blue slime, jump up two more platforms, watching out for the bats that hang from the ceilings above both of them. There's a fire cannon mounted on the wall to the left, wait for it to shoot out a flame, and then jump up to the platform above, taking special care not to rise too high and get hit by the fireball flying to the left.

As you walk behind the fire cannon's flame, you will see a Salamander and a Basilisk on the right. There's a Gift in the chest behind the Salamander, but it is so difficult to correctly time and collect, that it's generally not worth the effort or frustration to collect. Instead, drop down to the level with the Basilisk. Wait for it to open its eyes, and remember not to look to the right while the screen is flashing. Head to the left and collect the key, then drop down to the level with the green and red slimes. The green slime isn't much of a threat, but the red slime can shoot you with a spell while you jump over it if you aren't careful. Beyond the platform with the slimes, you must fall down to the exit, passing two ravens that fly back and forth as you go.

Floor 68[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 68.png

Time: 60, Treasure: Warp

This is a rather unusual level for a couple of reasons. First, it's a giant wide open room. Second, the only treasure (which can be found in the upper right corner) is a Warp, that will send you back to floor 51! Avoid it at all costs. Third, this is the only room to feature a guest monster that doesn't come from a Namco game. Rather, it's a parody of the Healer Slimes that appear in the Dragon Quest series, presumably with the face of one of the developers.

In order to clear this room, you must jump up to the ceiling approximately above the center of the room to collect the key. But to do this, you'll have to dodge the parody Healer Slimes which steadily chase after you, and avoid getting hit by the spell casting ghosts. Provided you jump up around the right place, you should be able to see the key and collect it. Avoiding the spells while you rise and fall can be a bit difficult, but holding down B button can make getting away from the parody monsters easier. After collecting the key, drop down and head straight to the exit in the lower left corner.

Black dragon warp: As they say, what goes up must come down… falling!

Floor 69[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 69.png

Time: 60, Treasure: Gift

There are two hallways which lead to the exit. But before you consider which hallway to take, simply jump up to the highest level above the entrance and collect the key. After you land, examine the paths that lead to the right. The lower path has three fast moving quails running back and forth within a narrow corridor, while the middle path has two equally fast Axe Beaks running back and forth. Not only is the middle path slightly larger, the ceiling above it breaks sooner, and there's only two Axe Beaks, so this is clearly the path to take. Run to the right just behind the left Axe Beak, and jump up to the platform above as soon as you have the opportunity. You'll grab the Gift from the chest as you make your way to the exit.

Floor 70[edit]

Kai no Bouken map 70.png

Time: 60, Treasure: none

Ishtar's preamble: Don't be fooled by the "gold nuggets"! Avoid them at all costs.

Ishtar's joke: From behind, you look like a giant rock from Genpei Touma Den.

The "nuggets" that Ishtar is referring to are actually asteroids from the game Bosconian. Though they are gold in color, they are fatal to touch like most everything else. Run to the right, and jump up to the next platform. Because of the position of the asteroid behind Nyamco, you are actually better off trying to run beneath him as he jumps up, rather than above him and below the asteroid. When you are beyond them, jump up to the next level when the trio of orange Beholders are close to the left column. Watch out for the raven above them, and get to the right side. You must slip past Inky, and once again, you should do so while Inky is high. There is a Giant Leech waiting to drop down behind Inky, so you're better off staying lower to the platform. Then run to the left to reach the exit.
