Here you'll find some useful technical informations.

Savegames[edit]

There are only eight savegame slots. It's not possible to name the saved games. Instead, the time of the save and name of the map are displayed. The savegames can be found at <program folder>\save\ for single player games and <program folder>\save\multi\ for multi player games.

When at least one addon is installed, the game keeps track of the completed levels. It will assume you completed the whole main program so all 24 missions there will be available directly. You can play those missions again when clicking on Load game in the main menu.

AI limitations[edit]

The AI has a few limitations that can be noticed while playing. Some have to be kept in mind when creating own maps.

  • It is not possible for AI players to use ships. This actually gives a strategical advantage to the player since there will be no surprise attacks by AI troops landing in the back of the base.
  • AI players seem to never destroy their towers. However, they can play on if a few towers are destroyed by war machines. This can be abused by searching for weakly defended towers when attacking. Building many towers that the AI has to conquer may consume a lot of its troops but require a lot of space and men so it is not advisable.
  • AI players never use pioneers. Instead, they always use towers to expand. This gives a strategical advantage when the terrain must be cleared before expanding but this is not often the case.
  • AI players can't manage more than one sector. If the land of the AI is divided it has problems managing it and sometimes try to build where it has no stones or planks. In the worst case, dividing the AI land into two halves can decide the game.
  • Soldiers always follow enemies. The way around this is to use "ignore" by clicking while holding CTRL. However, the soldiers won't attack enemies then until they reach their destination so one has to be careful with it. It can be useful if the AI tries to lure soldiers into its land.
  • The AI is not as efficient as human players and will need more starting resources and space than human players, according to the map editor manual.
