In the console version, sims have to go through various stages compared to the PC versions sandbox style gameplay

Dream House[edit]

The Get a Life mode begins after the player makes a character. The character is found in a large, luxurious mansion with expensive furniture and a hot tub. Then, a handsome male (if the player's character is a female) or a beautiful female (if the player's character is a male) Sim appears. He/she gets into the hot tub and tells the player's character to join him/her. When the character gets in, the character suddenly hears a woman's voice telling them to "stop daydreaming". Should the character delay entering the hot tub, its occupant will complain and the game will end there.

Money from Mom[edit]

Having been daydreaming, the character awakens to reveal that they actually reside in Mom's small bedsit house, and wants to move out. Before moving out, Mom wants them to repair the broken television, cook a meal, and get a job. The character must also earn §800. Once all tasks have been completed, Mom will notify the player that she has found a house for the character to rent, and you bid her farewell and move into it. If the player adds furnishings or otherwise improves the value of the house, Mom will give the character money for their troubles upon departure.

Reality Bites[edit]

The character has moved to a new house for the time being. Nobody's living with them. The thing is, the house is a mess. Everything's broken, there is trash everywhere and the toilet's clogged. A new character, either Mimi or Dudley, depending on gender, will come over and say that the character can stay in the house for free if they tidy up the house and fix all the stuff. Either Dudley or Mimi will let the character stay at their house after they have gotten promoted two times and have gotten new stuff in the house. After the player has done everything, the character will go to their house and become roommates.

Party Animals[edit]

The character has moved into another house, which Dudley/Mimi lives in. The player may want the character to live with somebody else as soon as possible. To do so, the character has to throw a party for Dudley/Mimi's six friends, and then ask one of them to be their roommate. The character must also get promoted two more times. After the character gets two promotions, they can move out with a person at the party.

Hot to Trot[edit]

The person the character is living with at this point is only temporary, as they may want to find a person to marry. In this level, the character has to get promoted another two levels and throw another party. At this party, the character has to find someone of the opposite sex and try to "score" with them. When they do, they get married and move in with him/her.

Who Loves Ya Baby[edit]

Now the character is in their house with their spouse and they are all alone. They have to have two babies and take care of them until they are kids. The character also has to get promoted another two levels yet again. After they have done everything, they will move to another house.

The Last Simoleon[edit]

Now that the character has completed almost everything, there are only a few more things left to do. The character has to keep the kids' grades high enough to be sent into prep school. They also have to get promoted to the highest level. Then, the characters have to save up 20,000 simoleons to buy a yacht. Then, the characters have to throw one retirement party. After this, the game is completed.
