Lucia[edit]

Wing of Madoola Lucia.png

Lucia is the brave heroine who has accepted the challenge of defeating Darutos and reclaiming the Wing of Madoola. She is determined to save the world after having lost the traveling companion who was designated as the one who would challenge Darutos. Skilled with a sword, she can perform many rapid strikes with her blade. Along the way, she will obtain magical weapons and master their use as well. Lucia is an average jumper, but her jumping ability improves with each pair of boots that she obtains. She has a number of health points that dictate how much damage she can absorb. If she loses all of her health, she will perish. She can find certain items that will boost her maximum health and help her to live longer. She also has a limited number of magic points with which to wield magical weapons. This too can be increased beyond it's starting maximum. In order to find the Wing of Madoola, Lucia must travel through sixteen stages. In order to escape from one stage to the next, she must find and defeat the boss of each stage, and collect the Ball which grants passage to the next stage.

Techniques[edit]

Upward Flame Sword[edit]

Lucia can direct the flames that shoot out from the Flame Sword upward by holding Up dpad when pressing B button.

Magic Bomb Timing[edit]

The Magic Bomb will not explode until it hits an object or you release B button. If the bomb hits an enemy it will explode and do minimal damage. If you explode the bomb just prior to hitting the enemy, all of the flames will hit for a lot more damage.

Upward Bound Ball[edit]

Lucia can direct the motion of the Bound Ball upward by holding Up dpad when pressing B button. This is the best technique to hit enemies that are much higher than Lucia.

Ineffective Smasher[edit]

There are some enemies who seem immune to the effects of the Smasher under certain conditions. The flames will gather over a particular location, but the enemy will receive no damage. For example, if a Suneisa is moving left, she may not be harmed by the Smasher, while a Suneisa moving to the right will be harmed. It is rarely effective against any boss, as the area hit is not always the vulnerable location of the boss.

Effective Flash[edit]

If you use Flash while moving to the left or right, it's effectiveness appears to increase. For example, Darutos will normally only be defeated if you use Flash four times. However, if you move left or right when using it, he can be defeated with only three Flashes. Similarly, you can use one less Flash against a Byforce in this manner.

Consume less MP[edit]

Once you have the Wing of Madoola, it is possible to use the Wing to fly, and make use of a Magic weapon without the required amount of MP. For example, if you only have 1000 MP left during the fight with Darutos, you can begin flying and use Flash at the same time. Normally, this would cost 1500 MP, but if you perform them together, you will get away with both actions, and your MP will be reduced to 0. Use this technique cautiously; it is far better not to have to rely upon it.

Draw with Darutos[edit]

If you happen to strike Darutos and defeat him at the exact same time that you lose all of your health, a few strange things will occur. When you continue, there will be no background music. Furthermore, you will be able to pick up the Wing of Madoola again, and as you fly up, you will see Darutos again, but you will not be required to fight him. Instead, you can continue flying up to the warp door at the very top and proceed to the game's ending.

Reduce fireballs with Bound Ball[edit]

After collecting the Wing of Madoola, you must fly up while avoiding getting struck by Darutos' fireballs. In order to reduce the number of fireballs on the screen, you can rapidly fire Bound Balls. It is not always possible to erase all of the fireballs, but you can usually remove quite a few of them. This works regardless of the size of the Bound Ball.

Damaging super jumps[edit]

If Lucia happens to jump at the same time as she is damaged, her jump will be much larger than normal. You can actually use this technique to perform a rather nice shortcut along the small platforms at the bottom of the 12t stage.

No damage bounce[edit]

It is possible to prevent Lucia from bouncing off an enemy when hit. If you hold the direction pad diagonally while Lucia is running (either upward or downward), Lucia's feet will remain on the ground even when she gets hit by an enemy and takes damage. This technique may help you force your way through an army of small enemies.

Strong Flash or Shield Ball[edit]

If you happen to use up all of your magic using a Flash spell, your weapon will automatically be switched to the Sword. If you rapidly swing your Sword as soon as this happens (before the Flash effect ends), the offensive power of the Flash will improve dramatically. Every enemy on the screen can be obliterated with one single Flash, even Darutos! The Shield Ball can be upgraded using the same technique.
