You shall first have to connect your Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC or Commodore 64 and cassette recorder to your television, then switch all three of them on; you shall now have to place the cassette of Orpheus's 1985adventure game The Young Ones into the recorder, rewind it (unless this is your first time playing), type LOAD "" (without leaving a space between the quotation marks), and press Enter to load the program into the console. You will then have to press either 1 to select Mike, 2 to select Vyvyan, 3 to select Neil or 4 to select Rick (after you have pressed your desired student's number, the respective student shall animate) - and if you wish, you can now press 6 or 7 to select Cursor or Kempston joystick control if connected (however, the CPC and C64 versions do not support Cursor joystick control, so Kempston joystick control is selected by pressing 6 for those versions, and you can also press 5 in all three versions to switch back to keyboard control if you wish). You will then have to press 0 ( Enter in the CPC and C64 versions) or the stick's button to start the game; all four students will then appear (Rick and Neil in the top half, Mike and Vyvyan in the bottom one).
Note: Due to several bugs in the game that will cause Mike, Neil and Rick to put down different objects when certain ones are selected from the menu (if they are carrying the "different" objects), it is only possible to finish it if you select Vyvyan; as such, this page is only going to describe what he has to do, and not the other three students. Orpheus also went out of business before the bugs could get fixed, so the game was withdrawn from sale in mid-1986.
