Area 1[edit | edit source]

Top time: 04'02"00

In the eighth part of this area, it is possible to shoot the steel construction in the foreground to make it collapse and slowly kill all eight enemies on the screen. However, you must release the pedal immediately after doing so because if you do not, it shall collapse on Miller as well and cost him a life. Speed runners will avoid shooting the construction since the fastest players can manually kill the enemies in this area faster than the time that the collapse will take.

Once you have cleared this area, the text "AREA 1 CLEAR" will appear at the top of the screen, with "YOUR TIME", "XX'XX"XX" (XX'XX"XX being your current time) and "VS. TOP SPY -/+XX'XX"XX" (-/+XX'XX"XX being the greater, indicated by the minus, or lesser, indicated by the plus, difference from 04'02"00) below it; the text "ACCURACY XX%" (XX% being your accuracy percentage) and (XX/XX) (the two XXs being the number of hits and number of shots fired) will then appear below that, and the game shall segue into the second area (but if Miller loses his last life to the collapsing construction, it will cost him the game, in which case you'll have twenty seconds to insert another coin and continue by shooting the YES box on the screen's left side).

Top time: 05'01"00

In the first part of this area, it is possible to shoot the front side of the glass case (which holds three crowns, two gold and one silver) in the foreground, to make it shatter just for fun; also, in the second part of the area, it is possible to shoot the right side of the case to make it shatter just for fun as well.

Initially, Sherudo Garo (the stage's boss) is accompanied by three Yellow Ippanhei and three Shin'eitai, but once you have killed them all (and shot Garo himself to send him reeling three times), six additional Shin'eitai will replace them once Miller has proceeded to the second area; once you've killed them all (and shot Garo himself to send him reeling three more times), six more additional Shin'eitai shall replace them, once Miller has proceeded to the third area. Once you have killed them all (and shot Garo himself to send him reeling four more times, as opposed to just three for this final area), he shall die.
