Unlike previous Tribes games, which only had 3 types of armours, Tribes: Ascend has 9 classes, 3 for every armor.

Light[edit]

Pathfinder[edit]

The Pathfinder is a class focused on speed, being able to go extremely fast. Due to this they make excellent flag carriers and chasers. They have respectable firepower for a light class, but they have trouble dealing with more heavily armored targets.

Sentinel[edit]

The Sentinel is this game's sniper class, possessing hitscan rifles that can deal damage at extreme ranges instantaneously. In the right hands it can be very dangerous, taking out flag carriers or harassing defenders. With its Claymores and Drop Jammers, it can also lend a hand in base defense.

Infiltrator[edit]

The Infiltrator specialises in stealth and sabotage. With their Stealth Pack, they can easily slip past enemy defenses. Its infamous Sticky Grenades are extremely effective at taking down base assets like the generator.

Medium[edit]

Soldier[edit]

The Soldier is an all-around, versatile class, having weapons that suit just about any situation. They are easy-to-use, so they make a great starter class for newcomers to familiarise themselves with the game.

Raider[edit]

The Raider is a durable offensive class, with its Arx Buster and Grenade Launcher it can take down base assets and wreck havok among players. It can increase it's survivability with the Shield Pack or make itself undetectable from enemy sensors with the Jammer Pack.

Technician[edit]

The Techinician specialises in defense. It can deploy Light Turrets to defend objectives or important areas. With its Improved Repair Tool, it is also useful for base repair, keeping generators, sensors, turrets and friendly vehicles up.

Heavy[edit]

Juggernaut[edit]

The Juggernaut possesses the Fusion Mortar, one of the most deadliest weapons in the game. With it, they can shell the flag stand, take out base assets and players from long distances and deal a lot of damage.

Doombringer[edit]

The Doombringer is a class well-suited for defense. While being probably the least mobile class, they can quickly rack up damage with their Chaingun. They can deploy Force Fields to block off key areas and keep the skies clear with their Saber Launcher.

Brute[edit]

The Brute has simple but powerful weapons, making them most suited for direct combat. They are particularly notorious for their Fractal Grenades, which is excellent at area denial.
