Part 1[edit]

Trojan Stage5-1.png

While Stage 5 appears to be a repeat of Stage 3, it is far more difficult. Even with an ample supply of lives, you may find that you simply don't have enough chances to defeat either of the bosses in this stage. The good news is that when you reach the end of a floor, you drop to the next one instantly, so you do not have to worry about getting hit on the way down as much. Remember that when encountering the Mamushis, you do not have to beat both of them, or even one of them, as long as you fall down the chute. The floor enemies are composed as follows:

  1. Smashers
  2. Slashers and Explosives
  3. Spiders
  4. Mamushis
  5. Spiders
  6. Slashers and Explosives (CHECKPOINT)
  7. Mamushis
  8. Boss

Boss[edit]

For the boss fight, you will face not one, but two Musculars. This is an extremely difficult fight. Although they appear on either side of you (the right one appears once you close enough to the center), they don't actively engage you at one time. Nevertheless, you have to keep a good distance from either one and employ a hit-and-run strategy against both of them. Get just close enough to swing your sword and connect with one of them and instantly run away. It is best to take on only one at a time, but circumstances may not afford you that luxury.

Part 2[edit]

Trojan Stage5-2.png

Just as in Stage 3, the second part of Stage 5 is identical to the first part, except for a different boss.

  1. Smashers
  2. Slashers and Explosives
  3. Spiders
  4. Mamushis
  5. Spiders
  6. Slashers and Explosives (CHECKPOINT)
  7. Mamushis
  8. Boss

Boss[edit]

Instead of fighting two Musculars, you must fight two Iron Arms. And these two will gang up on you if you let them get close enough to one another. There is no particularly good strategy to use, as these two are very tough to fight at the same time. One strategy to try is to jump in and rapidly slash your sword from a squatting position in an effort to remove them from play as quickly as possible. This method does not guarantee your safety or a sure victory, but if it works, it enables you to defeat these two very quickly.

NES differences[edit]

Trojan Stage5-1 NES.png

The NES version of this stage is far more forgiving. For some reason, this is the only stage not to contain two parts. Once you reach the bottom, you will engage in two consecutive boss fights, and then move on to the nest stage. It even contains item boxes which can be used to obtain points, health, and even an extra life.

  1. Containers (2000 points, Bats, Explosives)
  2. Mamushi
  3. Mamushi
  4. Explosives
  5. Containers (Heart, 2000 points, 1up)
  6. Containers (The stationary one drops explosive, the one that moves contains a 10,000 Yashichi symbol)
  7. Boss

The boss fight for this stage consists of a battle with a single Muscular, followed by a battle with a single Iron Arm. The Iron Arm will not appear until the Muscular is completely defeated, so you do not have to worry about dealing with two bosses at the same time as you do in the arcade.
