Skiing was released for the Intellivision in 1980 by Mattel. When the game was originally released, Mattel obtained a license from the U.S. Ski Team and used its name and logo on the game's box. It dropped the U.S. Ski Team moniker after it was sold to Sears for its private-label version of the Intellivision. All subsequent re-releases have gone by the name Skiing (not to be confused with the Atari 2600 version of Skiing produced by Activision).

In Skiing, the idea is to complete the chosen course in the fastest time possible. There are three heats, and the fastest one is chosen. There are 15 levels of steepness for the mountain, and two courses, the downhill and the slalom. There are gates to pass through and obstacles to jump over to get the fastest time.
