Overview[edit]

Asgore Dreemurr is the ruler of the Underground and its denizens, the monsters. He is the former husband of Toriel, the former father of Chara and Asriel, the king of the Underground, and probably the 5th hardest boss in the game, the order from strongest to weak going Sans, Undyne the Undying, Asriel Dreemurr, Photoshop Flowey, and then Asgore.

Appearance[edit]

Just like Toriel, he is a huge, goat-like creature that wields insane fire magic. He is shown to be wearing armor under his robe, adding to his defense. He is also wearing a purple cape with a large, golden crown. He wields a large red trident, and is most likely the biggest character in the game

Personality[edit]

Asgore is a kind monster that enjoys gardening, Golden Flower Tea, and Toriel's Butterscotch Pie. Like his son, he speaks in southern slang (most notably "howdy" and "golly"). He is seen to be kind towards the player, as he regrets killing the humans for their SOULs. He still loves Toriel, even if she left him. He allows the protagonist to explore more of the underground before he fights, not that he wanted to fight them in the first place. As evidence that he is the king, characters refer to him in red and in all caps. Sometimes, they refer to him in yellow and red instead of just red or yellow by themselves.

In the Game[edit]

Pacifist Route[edit]

When Asgore attempts to fight the player, Toriel will stop him by hitting him with a fire ball. Everyone you have befriended in the game will then appear, and Papyrus asks how Alphys knew to call them together. She responds by saying a "little yellow flower helped me." Flowey appears, transforms into Asriel, and the battle begins.

Neutral Route[edit]

Before the player can actually manage to finish off/spare Asgore, he is killed by Flowey, has his SOUL broken, and he dies. He comes back when you reset the game, don't worry.

Genocide Route[edit]

He absorbs the 6 human SOULs to stop the human, but is killed in one hit by Flowey. Way to go, Asgore.

Trivia[edit]

  • Attempting to name the human "Asgore" prompts "You cannot"
  • Asgore does not look directly at the player during his battle, even during his trident attack where he swings his trident and leaves behind orange and blue trails in random order.
