Overview

Papyrus is Sans brother and a huge part of the story line in UNDERTALE. He is seen wearing many outfits during his date and Alphys's hangout, but the one he is wearing throughout the rest of the game is his "battle body" as Sans puts it.

Appearance

Papyrus is a tall skeleton wearing a white chest plate with gold trim, coquelicot gloves with a golden trim, blue briefs with a golden belt, and knee-high coquelicot boots. His chestplate has a symbol representing Starman from the Mother series. For some reason, he also has fake eyebrows.

Personality

Papyrus can be very childish at times, freaking out at Sans for not recalibrating his traps, and getting angry at not capturing a human, even getting angry at the player during his puzzles. He can be very brave and cunning at times, however, as seen in the Genocide Route. He is very persistent as well, seeing as how he waited outside Undyne's house all night so he could ask her to make him a part of the Royal Guard. Other than that, he's kinda oblivious...

In the Game

Pacifist Route

He is first met in Snowdin Forest, wanting to capture a human. He then notices the player after the player gets through some of Snowdin Forest. He goes on to give them puzzles. Lots of puzzles. After all that, he battles the player in Snowdin. You must either let him reduce your HP to 1, or spare him. Letting him reduce your HP to 1 a few times makes him decide that the player is friendly and he lets you continue on.

Neutral Route

Sans calls you a dirty brother killer for killing him. Probably not the best option to kill him...

Genocide Route

Kill him. It's impossible to spare him without aborting the route.

Trivia

• Papyrus is one of the 4 characters too speak in a font
  • His brother, Sans, speaks in Comic Sans
    • This may be based off of a comic about a skeleton who speaks in a font
  • Gaster speaks in WingDings
  • Flowey speaks in Gulim Che (he speaks in the normal font one time during the game)
• In the end credits, he is seen riding down a highway in a big red car, which is something he's always wanted to do.
  • He has a bed that looks just like this car in his room.
