- Trivia: The signpost in Proto-Antarctica reads "Years: 9 000 000 B.C.", but at that time pangea split up already since long. More appropriately, a date that would belong to Pangea is the year 190 000 000 B.C.
- Trivia: There are no dinosaurs in Pangea, just amphibians (i.e. ancestors of frogs and salamanders, like the dimetrodon). Dinosaurs will appear near the end of Pangea age, just before the formation of the Atlantic Ocean.
Baradin's town[edit]
A town million years before human beings came to be? The only explanation is that it was founded by time-travelers coming through the Time Gates. Indeed, the inhabitants of Baradin's Town know lots of information about 2112 A.D. and specifically about your quest to find Father Antos.
Baradin's town is located in proto-Africa, near the future location of the village of Le Jester.
In case you want more keys, the "amusing" guard is near the south entrance. Therefore, you may fight the guards starting from the north gate.
In Baradin's town for the first time you can easily access the Oracle's house. It's probably the best time to collect all the information from this character. It will cost a total of 4500G. Still, remember what the Sightless Sage in Port Bonifice said: "Find the Father, earn the ring".

Time and travel made me wise. Precious gold, a clue it buys! |
(000G) Ask me no question, I'll tell you no lie. (100G) The queen is the king and the king is a spy. |
(200G) The evil men do is a horrible thing... (300G) ...but dispelling means you must have the ring. |
(400G) Just where it is, I cannot say... (500G) ...but I'll tell you right now, there is no other way. |
(600G) I hear in a town where the water runs free... (700G) ...there is an old man living under a tree. |
(800G) He does not have a name, but he does have a clue... (900G) ...mayhaps if you find him, he'll tell it to you! |
OPTIONAL: dungeons and towers[edit]
- In 1423 BC, in Castle British, the subdued balron whimpers: Lithium packs the 16th level!
Tri-lithium is required to travel in space in 2112 A.D. All the chests on floor 15 in any dungeon and tower contain tri-lithium only. In the original version of Ultima 2, dungeons and towers are completely optional, because tri-lithium can also be dropped by defeated thieves.
In the Japan-only FM-Towns port, enemies do not drop tri-lithium anymore, therefore there is a reason for exploring dungeons and towers. Still, 20 tri-lithiums are sufficient to visit all the planets and come back to Earth; so, exploring one tower on Earth is really all you need.
Remember that collecting 100 tri-lithiums is the same as collecting zero, because of the 99-rollover mechanic.
Most chests contain gold. Some contain a random weapon or armor.
Some considerations:
- Floors 0-1: the only enemies are orcs; if there is a significant amount of chests, exploration can be worth it (e.g. the tower in 1990 A.D.).
- Floor 2 onwards: the presence of ghosts requires a large stock of torches; venture here if you have more than 90 torches and you want to use up some.
- Floor 8 onwards: the presence of gremlins requires a very large stock of food; no need to get this deep in dungeons and towers.
The table below is subdivided in two sides: on the left, dungeons and towers on the Earth, on the right, dungeons and tower in the solar system.
Dungeon in Greenland[edit]
In the DOS version of Ultima 2, this dungeon cannot be accessed in Pangea.
- Treasure chests on floors 0-1: 2
- Total treasure chests: 11
- Tri-lithiums: 8
This dungeon is definitely not worth exploring, unless you need to use up some torches and tools.
Tower in 1423 B.C.[edit]
This tower is between a swamp and a forest, therefore the safest way to get there is by ship.
- Treasure chests on floors 0-1: 0
- Total treasure chests: 46
- Tri-lithiums: 31
Exploring this tower is more rewarding than the Greenland dungeon, but still less rewarding than the Tower in 1990 A.D.
Next time travel[edit]
Since Faher Antos is on another planet, you need a way to travel in space. The most natural age where you can find this is the 2112 A.D. aftermath.
Enter the gate in proto-antarctica, i.e. the one that is to the extreme south.
