The Fury is one of the more feared vehicles in the game. It packs a big wallop with its quad-particle beams, it can traverse the battlefield quickly due to its flying ability, it can dodge well using its burst special ability, and it can hit other heavy armor units from above, where they have either limited or no ability to strike back.

Furies have enough armor to survive some big hits. Unlike the particle beams from the Darkwalker, the ones on the Fury have a fairly short range.

Movement[edit]

Normal movement keys are usable from the pilot position to move forward, backward, left or right. The jump key causes the Fury to gain altitude, and the crouch key causes it to descend.

The Fury can use its boost special ability to quickly move in any direction for a short period of time.

Primary Fire[edit]

Curious Note
All of the Furies depicted in the campaign cutscene movies fire plasma bombs rather than particle beams. Late design change?

The primary fire triggers the quad-particle beam weapons mounted in the front. They are similar to the those used by the Darkwalker, except they have a much shorter range. To be effective, the fire button must be held down while the beam is locked on the target. The beam will fire continuously for a few seconds, then it must recharge before the next burst.

To lock the beam on a target, you must get an enemy near the center crosshair and keep them there while the beam is active. The beam targeting system is intelligent enough to lock onto enemies that are not quite in the center reticle.

If you cannot lock onto an enemy that is in or near the center of your targeting reticle, then they are out of range.

Secondary Fire[edit]

While moving, the secondar fire button triggers the boost special ability, which moves the Fury rapidly in whatever direction it is already moving for a short period of time.

Special Abilities[edit]

The boost special ability is triggered by using the secondary fire button while moving. Using boost can help you dodge out of the way of incoming fire, become a harder target to hit, or splatter a grappling flag carrier all over a nearby wall (oops!)

After each use, the boost ability must briefly recharge before it can be used again.

Strategies & Tactics[edit]

  • Furies are very effective against infantry; they take them out at the rate of about one person every 3 seconds
  • Furies are also very effective against slower moving vehicles, and can attack them from directly above where most of them cannot fight back
  • In the Sandstorm VCTF map, a popular strategy is to take a hoverboarder over the wall grappled to a Fury, dump them off, kill all armor in the vicinity with the Fury, then pick the flag carrier up and take them back over the wall
  • To counter the above tactic, ignore the Fury and shoot the flag carrier with a fast-firing weapon to cause them to fall from the Fury
