Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Bottex! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or visit the Discord server to chat. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the staff lounge as well. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Please remember to sign your name when leaving comments on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! — WarioTalk 22:32, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Pre-load buttons[edit]

The pre-load buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the pre-load buttons located above the edit text box (e.g. click on "Guide page" to add Header Nav to the top and Footer Nav to the bottom), which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. These templates are very handy because they include the templates that are required for each page type. If you are unsure about how to use them, or what pages to use them on, please let me know. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — WarioTalk 00:10, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Second reminder. We've had to clean up several pages that you started because you failed to click the "Guide page" link at the top of the page before you started writing information. Please do this. We've made it as easy for people to do as possible. Procyon 04:11, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Please use the preload buttons. It's a single click and means we don't have to clean up after you. -- Prod (talk) 08:21, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Guide subpages[edit]

I've moved your Smash and See page to Croc: Legend of the Gobbos/Smash and See, as all pages for a guide should be subpages of the main page. All pages should also be linked from the Table of Contents. Please move the links from the subpages to the table of contents. However, if the pages are going to be very short, it might be better to include all the information on the island pages directly. -- Prod (talk) 16:45, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. . Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — WarioTalk 15:16, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Hey there, you're doing great on the guide, just want to remind you to add categories to the images you upload (for example, and ). Thanks! :) --WarioTalk 16:14, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Upload typing[edit]

Hello. Most of your uploads are using type=user, which is NOT accurate to those types of images. Entering type=user should only be done if you are using the image exclusively on your userpage. Otherwise, files for games should utilize its appropriate descriptor from the following list:

 • screenshot (self explanatory)
 • artwork (self explanatory)
 • boxart (Box artwork or something fulfilling the role)
 • texture (2D textures meant for backgrounds or on 3D objects
 • audio (self explanatory)
 • video (self explanatory)
 • logo (For either a game or a company)
 • map (self explanatory)
 • icon (For small 2D images meant to indicate something)
 • sprite (self explanatory)
 • user (image meant specifically for your userpage)
 • wiki (image meant for the wiki's meta, like a policy page)

Please keep up the uploads! Just make sure you use the right type! Trig - 20:31, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

Adventure Island II Complete?[edit]

Just wondering if I could mark it as Completion Stage 4 (complete), or if there was anything else you were gonna add to it. Some writers prefer to keep their guides at stage 3 instead of stage 4, but it ultimately is up to you whether you wanna mark it as complete or not. Arrow (talk) 16:46, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

Yes, you can could mark it as Completion Stage 4.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bottex (talkcontribs) 16:17, 26 December 2021.

Writing style[edit]

HI Bottex. I apologize, but I undid your changes to The Guardian Legend/Corridor 21. I just felt there was a little too much hyperbole, and informal writing for the changes to constitute an improvement. As an example, it's poor style to refer to a boss battle as "a joke." It may have been for you, and players who are at a similar level of skill to you, but you can't assume that about everyone who reads our guides. It's fair to say that one boss should be easier to defeat than another since that's objectively true in most cases, but try not to inject too much personal perspective in your writing. Keep it neutral and objective. Thanks. Procyon 19:43, 9 June 2022 (UTC)

Upload Typing II[edit]

Wazzup. When putting the source for your images, any that you are capturing yourself, use type=self instead of writing source=Game emulator. Otherwise, keep up the good work. Thanks! Trig - 16:46, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

Copy move[edit]

Hi! I've been noticing you working on the Darkwing Duck guide, cool! But your last edit was a copy move. Please use the actual move functionality in the future, since it retains the page history, which is important.--Henke37 (talk) 09:54, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back/Secrets[edit]

It looks like the warp rooms are accessed from specific sections of the game. Would it make sense to have the actual explanation of accessing the warps on the specific pages directly, and then link to them from the secrets page? That way users won't miss the warps if they don't explicitly check the secrets page. This also means the instructions wouldn't be duplicated, in case anyone needs to update them in the future. -- Prod (talk) 23:27, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
