Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello CrosswalkX! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or ask a sysop, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Pre-load buttons[edit]

The pre-load buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the pre-load buttons located above the edit text box (e.g. click on "Guide page" to add {{Header Nav}} to the top and {{Footer Nav}} to the bottom), which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. These templates are very handy because they include the templates that are required for each page type. If you are unsure about how to use them, or what pages to use them on, please let me know. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — WarioTalk 00:40, 26 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the quality content, but again, when creating a new page, make sure to click on the "Guide page" button above the text box so that header and footer navs are placed on the page before you begin writing. --WarioTalk 02:01, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Please reply to this thread and confirm that you have read and understood what is being asked of you here. Failure to do so may result in a temporary ban from editing until you do. Thank you. Procyon 14:30, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Age of Empires 1, 2, 3 Age of Mythology guide contribute help[edit]

As you know I've been playing video games most of my life and I've gotten very good at it.

Some of the games I've been playing alot is Age of Empires 1, 2, 3, Age of Mythology. The original PC CD rom release.

I have been hard at work at finishing the Age of Empires Guide, (I've just finished with Age of Empires 1 including Rise of Rome.) I'm now wanting to finish up the Age of Empires 2 guide and I hopefully want to finish contributing guides for Age of Mythology and Age of Empires 3 which is currently unfinished.

Also to let you know I have been contributing game guides for Age of Empires 1 but I'm not professional at it and it's sometimes hard for me to get it to look good and professional, I create game guides that people can understand and help them at the games. I do work my hardest at it. Some of the features I don't quite understand because I'm not used to it yet, I'll make sure to use the editing features in the future.

I would like someone on strategywiki to review my guides I contributed for Greek Campaigns and Pax Romana campaigns for Age of Empires 1 and improve the guides I've worked on to make it even better.

Is anyone on strategywiki interested in working on Age of Mythology or Age of Empires 3? Let me know because It'll take me time because I'll have replay the campaigns for the unfinished game guides for Age of Mythology and Age of Empires 3 since it's been a while since I've played those games. I want the game guides to be complete one day. CrosswalkX (talk) 21:52, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for making an effort to understand the features of the site; I know it may seem overwhelming at first, but the use of those features ultimately makes the site more organized. As for your contributions, I haven't played these games so I can't know for sure, but aside from the lack of header and footer navs (remember, use the "guide page" button when creating a guide page to automatically insert navs!) they looked fine to me. --WarioTalk 00:10, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Tips and Tricks[edit]

We generally try to avoid tips and tricks pages, because those can usually be added directly to the guide somewhere. The Final Fantasy VIII/Weapons page looks much better now. -- Prod (talk) 03:58, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Fancy editing tools[edit]

Prod (talk · contribs) will have to check for sure, but I don't know if we have access to the fancy editing tools that Fandom uses. We are a small organization, Fandom is a multi-million dollar company. I don't know if their tools are proprietary, or if they paid for them from someone else, but unless Prod can find a freely available version of those editing tools, we won't be able to offer them.

We have explained to you, at least three times, how to use the preload buttons, the conversation is right up above. It's one button click that you have to do when you start a new page. It's not complicated. And yet every time that you've created a new page, you've failed to click on them. So I started to delete the pages which aren't formatted correctly.

I'm sorry, I know that your condition must be very challenging sometimes. But we have other autistic users on the site who have come to understand the tools we have available, and they use them very well. I'm confident that, with time, you too will get better and better at contributing to StrategyWiki. It takes practice and patience. Stick with it and you'll get there.
