Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Dprather! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide. If you have a question about the content on this wiki, you can check out our staff lounge page. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the community portal talk page. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! -- Prod (Talk) 21:40, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

Image categories[edit]

Hi Dprather. Don't create your own image categories. Please only use the ones listed here. The Pokémon artwork category is exclusively for Pokémon games. Your Mewtwo image belonged in the Game artwork category. I have corrected it for you this time. Procyon (Talk) 21:00, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

SSBM Contributions[edit]

Thanks for all the edits. Your image of Mewtwo is exceptional and I'm glad you uploaded it. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:21, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Image Naming[edit]

Hi, when you upload images, can you please make sure that you prefix the image name with the guide's name and an underscore. For example, images for Counter-Strike: Source all begin with "css_". Thanks and happy editing.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:53, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Please re-upload Image:250px-Mario Party 7 boxart.jpg as Image:Mario Party 7 boxart.jpg to fit with our naming conventions. 99.99% of images from Wikipedia do not currently fit with our strict naming policy, so keep the policy in mind (viewable here) whenever uploading an image. Once you upload it with the proper name, and include it in Category:Box artwork, I'll delete the previous one and tell you how to add it into an infobox. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 11:29, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Cool, now to add your image to the infobox, put in the following under the |title=Mario Party 7 line:

|boxart=[[Image:Mario Party 7 boxart.jpg]]

New pages[edit]

When using the preload templates, there is very little that needs to be removed. Except for changing the |ratings text to ESRB (or whatever) nothing should be removed from the page. When creating the ToC, except for very special cases, nothing should be removed (though some things could be added). The proper category is Category:Box artwork for box artwork images. The proper parameter is |image, not |boxart (which will add the page to the Category:Deprecated templates. If you have any questions please leave me a message. -- Prod (Talk) 22:26, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

My bad on that, didn't know {{infobox}} was changed. Dprather, if you want, I'll stop by and help with the Mario Party series walkthroughs after I'm done with my other projects. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 09:51, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

Wii Fit[edit]

If at all possible, could you please upload the box artwork for Wii Fit and use that in place of the logo for the image parameter in the infobox? We generally only use the logos if a) the game's box has not yet been revealed or b) the game doesn't have a box. So if you could do that (categorise the boxart under Category:Box artwork), and tag the logo with {{delete}}, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 19:08, 15 July 2007 (CDT)

Image:Gamecube-Button-Mb.jpg[edit]

Excuse me for asking, but what is the point of this image (i.e. what does it represent)? --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:00, 16 July 2007 (CDT)

Seriously, what is this for? And now that you have three versions of the same image, which one do you want to keep? I would like an answer very soon, before I delete all three. An upload summary of "Mario Party 7" is NOT sufficient in explaining the image's purpose, so please explain what it is for. Oh yeah, your .png version is a jpeg, not a png, so please upload the correct file type if you want it to stay .png. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:37, 16 July 2007 (CDT)

New game pages[edit]

I noticed you created a bunch of new game pages with no content in them. Whenever you create a new page, can you put some basic information about the game at least? Wikipedia should have most of the infobox information, and a few sentences about the game would be great. -- Prod (Talk) 08:41, 28 July 2007 (CDT)

The same is true for pages like the SSBM single player page you created; they're useless without content, and may just be deleted. --DrBob (Talk) 05:38, 12 August 2007 (CDT)

Userboxes[edit]

You have two options -- {{Userbox}} and {{Wpuserbox}}. Unfortunately, neither have any documentation. As such, here you go:

  • {{Userbox|background color|title|contents}} or
  • {{Wpuserbox|background color|title|contents|border-c=border color|id-s=title size (pt)|info-s=content size (pt)|id-fc=title foreground color|info-fc=content foreground color}}

Background color, title, and contents are the only required parameters in each. Examples:

  • {{Userbox|#c9c9c9|Test|This is a test}}
Test This is a test
  • {{Wpuserbox|#c9c9c9|Test|This is a test}}
Test This is a test

Hope that helps --Skizzerz 00:55, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. [[Category:Game Name images]]. Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — Moydow (talk) 17:14, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Images from The Spriters Resource[edit]

When copying sprites, the only thing you should be looking for are real sprites from games. These are owned by whoever owns the intellectual property rights to the game; they are not owned by the sprite ripper. This means that you do not need to credit the sprite ripper - however, if you're like me, do it because it's nice and we support the gamers who help each other.

For sprites that are not from a game (i.e. unique sprites drawn or created by someone online), you cannot copy them without crediting the author. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:39, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
