Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! -- najzereT 16:58, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Image uploads[edit]

Please see our policy on image naming and categorization. In the future, your image names should contain the name of the game or its abbreviation and a one or two word description. All images also need to have the appropriate categories added, as well as the guide-specific image category (e.g. ). --najzereT 16:58, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about that, I'm still not sure about the MOS for image uploads here. I'll figure it out before I upload next time. Drew R. Smith 00:33, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

PFR/LG guide[edit]

Hi Drew. Thanks for contributing to the FR/LG guide. Since this is a wiki, and all of the content belongs to the public domain, feel free to grab all the content you want from the Pokémon Red and Blue guide and correct it to make it more applicable. That's basically how I started making the FR/LG guide. Let me know if you need any help. Procyon 14:35, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

I thought about that, but figured the differences would be just enough to make it a pain... But I'll take a look, as I'm making the guides as I play through the game. Drew R. Smith 23:45, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Pokémon page creator[edit]

Hi, unfortunately your template leaves far too much cruft behind to use as a page creator. It's a cool idea, but I'd rather not have to do any more cleanup like this. :P The high level of foreign template stuff would make it too hard for your average editor to deal with (and we've got some young Pokémon fans editing), and a large portion of it isn't being used anyway. Feel free to keep working on a version that won't leave anything weird behind, or use it and clean up afterwards. Thanks for working on the guide! — najzereT 17:25, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Oh, sorry! I was planning on cleaning it up myself, but fell asleep before I got to it! As for the creator, I have some ideas on how to make it more user friendly, but they all involve extensions we dont have here yet. :( Drew R. Smith 23:41, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
You could always bring up any extensions you'd like to see on the StrategyWiki:Staff lounge and see if there's a consensus to include it. If you plan to petition for a new extension, try to explain how it can be useful to the whole wiki, as it's less likely to be added if it's just for one guide. Good luck! — najzereT 23:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Templates[edit]

Hey, thanks for adding some templates to our repertoire. I deleted the editnotice one, as it was basically a duplicate of our tag template and also because we don't want large notices left by editors at the tops of guide pages. There was a discussion a long time ago about which templates should get the big box at the top, and there aren't too many – just some of these ones. I added some usage notes and categorized para though, so thanks for that one. Just wanted to give you a heads up! Keep up the good work :D — najzereT 19:16, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

editnotice was supposed to show up only in the editscreen, but it didn't work quite the way I wanted it too. Is there some tag I can put on bad templates so that someone can delete them? Also, what categories should I place templates into? Drew R. Smith 21:23, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
You can put reason on any article to have it deleted. Templates should be placed into Category:Templates if they are for the wiki as a whole, or Category:Guide-specific templates if they're for a guide. Within the Templates category there are some subcategories that should be used instead, if they apply. Make sure to pipe off the template name so it doesn't get sorted by "T" in the namespace (or just use ). Hope that helps :) — najzereT 21:30, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello, we've recently gone through some more of the templates you've added and I've deleted most of the ones that weren't guide-specific. First of all, you're clearly copying these from elsewhere so I would caution you to make sure what you're attempting to add has a place here (as this is a different wiki with likely a different scope) and try to take out stuff we'll never use like tags for categories that don't exist here. Second, please create a topic on the StrategyWiki:Staff lounge before adding any more general wiki templates so they can be discussed and evaluated before you create and use them. This will save us a lot of time and effort. Over the years we've come up with many helpful templates, some of which you are duplicating, and others have been discussed and disgarded which you may not know about.

The main issue with most of the templates you're making – even the Pokémon-specific ones – is that they force content to be outside our normal styles and guidelines. We attempt to have a cohesive look and feel to all guides on the wiki for ease of browsing and editing, so try to keep that in mind and don't be offended if something you're adding gets changed or removed. For the "edit" template you made, if you would like that functionality, you can add this code to your BlueCloud.js page. Sorry if we seem to be pouncing on your contributions, but you're editing in high volume and making some drastic changes, so we have to be careful to address these issues before they get out of hand. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or on my talk page. Thanks for understanding :) — najzereT 19:07, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, forgot to add that for the "hide" template, we would normally just make a guide-specific template using the NavFrame divs to accomplish what you were doing on the Safari Zone page. Be careful of using too much collapsible content though, as you run the risk of it remaining hidden for readers with JavaScript turned off. — najzereT 19:13, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Pokémon Platinum guide[edit]

In the case of remakes, expansion packs, different versions, etc. we try to combine the guides for these games wherever possible to minimize the amount of duplication between two guides. How we do this can be confusing to editors new to this wiki, so I'll try to explain how it works. Diamond/Pearl came out first so it's considered the "main guide" and Platinum then uses Diamond/Pearl's guide space for most of its pages. The Diamond/Pearl toc then gets transcluded into the Platinum toc, and any Platinum-only pages are put into a subtoc template. This way changes to the toc can be made on one page and reflected on both guides, and the same can be said for changes to individual guide pages. I've deleted the duplicate pages made under the Platinum guide space and marked the other ones as needing to be merged to their Diamond/Pearl counterparts. Any differences between the Diamond/Pearl and Platinum games should be noted on the Diamond/Pearl pages. Hope that makes sense; it's really just to cut down on the work so you don't have to write two entire guides that will be mostly the same. — najzereT 23:50, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Template:Para deletion[edit]

Hi, a template you've created (para) has been nominated for deletion. If you'd like to provide a rationale to keep it, you can do so on the template's talk page. Conversely, if you agree with the deletion reason, you can speed matters up by noting so on the talk page. Thanks, — najzereT 00:29, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

File:Pokemon Platinum Sandgemtown.png deletion[edit]

Hi, this image has been marked for deletion. If you want to keep it, please put it on a guide page. If it's no longer needed, please respond here to expedite matters. Thanks, — najzereT 00:33, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
