MapleStory/Monsters/Complete list

Nice work with the list page. I'm planning on splitting the page up into many, since the page is huge and takes a while to load. The standard way seems to be to split at every 10 levels. What are your thoughts on this? -- Prod (Talk) 17:25, 25 January 2007 (CST) heh, Thanks. That seems like a pretty good idea. As you said, it's pretty much standard to split it at the ten level mark. seems like a good idea to me. Though i haven't experienced a long loading time at the page, it may be a bit heavy on slower computers. User:IsaacGS

Looks great what you filled in :D. I like the fact that you kept a consistent naming scheme for all of them, I should be able to add all the links in quite easily (as long as the names are the same). -- Prod (Talk) 18:28, 1 February 2007 (CST)
If the image of a monster is different from the name, there is an optional last parameter for the {{MapleStory/Monster}} template which gives a different image name. I'll set it up for the two Thug's so you know how it works. here is the diff. -- Prod (Talk) 23:13, 1 February 2007 (CST)
Heh, well that's more complicated templates than mediawiki's fault :P. I made that template since I wanted each of the monsters to have comparable formatting, rather than everyone doing whatever they wanted. The images were the only tricky part to make easy to use. -- Prod (Talk) 00:12, 2 February 2007 (CST)
I need info on the monster Lich. Because if its a super monster, Zombies are much worse now. I should had sent you a PM earlier talking about this too.TKWizard 17:25, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
What's the monsters name in Korean? -- Prod (Talk) 20:04, 24 April 2007 (CDT)

Found the name on Talk:MapleStory, here are the stats: boss: 1, bodyAttack: 1, level: 65, maxHP: 11000, maxMP: 500, speed: -30, PADamage: 180, PDDamage: 200, MADamage: 270, MDDamage: 400, acc: 150, eva: 999, exp: 255, undead: 1, pushed: 1000, fs: 10.000000, summonType: 0, removeAfter: 1800 -- Prod (Talk) 20:26, 24 April 2007 (CDT)

eva = avoidability, there isn't any other value that it could be. If it turns into another enemy, you'll have to give me the name of that enemy for me to find out anything about it. Also, if you do get "banned" you will be sent to Ice Valley II.
No chance with images on KMS(T). Of the people extracting that I know of, only Rick has been able to pull that off. I'm working with someone right now to try and solve it, but I highly doubt anything will come of it. :( -- Prod (Talk) 20:05, 25 April 2007 (CDT)

Those are some odd monsters ^_^. Are we going to keep the event monsters mixed in with the regular stuff? I'll edit the "Complete" listing today if I have time. -- Prod (Talk) 19:30, 26 April 2007 (CDT)

We could add another column (at the top, beside the ToC) for the event monsters, and one for the Quest/Premium monsters. Just because it isn't in the level lists, doesn't mean it can't be on the complete list. -- Prod (Talk) 19:58, 26 April 2007 (CDT)
Tell me when you've moved everything to where it belongs and I'll update the complete list. -- Prod (Talk) 20:17, 26 April 2007 (CDT)
I added the events, the rest I'll do tomorrow evening. I'll probably leave out those "extra" info that's added after the level though since it isn't as easy to located with a regular expression. -- Prod (Talk) 21:25, 26 April 2007 (CDT)
List updated. -- Prod (Talk) 18:25, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
Yea sorry about that. I was re-adding the bolding...then I got sick of it and just finished updating. As long as we aren't re-updating the table every week, it shouldn't be too much trouble to update. It's up to you. -- Prod (Talk) 18:39, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

Image categorisation

I see you've been uploading a few images lately. When doing so, could you please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories? The image policy is viewable here, and contains all the information you'll need to categorise future uploads. --Prod (Talk) 20:49, 4 March 2007 (CST)

Configure categories? A category is just a page, when linked to on another page it adds it to the category page like a list. To do the link, add [[Category:CategoryName]] to the bottom of the page/image. Most game images are categorized under Category:Sprites, Category:Artwork, or Category:Screenshots, as well as a specific category for the game if enough images for the game exist. --Notmyhandle 17:08, 5 March 2007 (CST)

As you have been uploading some images for Sonic Rivals, I'd like to re-emphasize this policy. -- Prod (Talk) 16:03, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

MapleStory

Hey, nice work with the MapleStory guide so far :). A few notes: If you add an image and you don't want it to mess with the next section use the {{-}} where you want everything reset. Also, when doing the pages for something specific, (like MapleStory/Towns/Henesys) it isn't necessary to restate the name (it's already at the top of the page). If there are other sections, then start them off with ==Title== to create a new section. Finally, add the pages to you watchlist (should be automatic, but there's a setting in prefs). That way you can see the changes other people make. Happy editing! :) -- Prod (Talk) 17:54, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Before making any major changes, please bring it up in discussion first. -- Prod (Talk) 22:49, 7 March 2007 (CST)
When it comes to edits, I see almost everything :P All the MapleStory pages are on my watchlist also, so I definately see those (even talk pages get shown). I think the change was definately needed, I was just too lazy to actually do it. -- Prod (Talk) 20:32, 8 March 2007 (CST)
Thanks for the reminded, I wanted to think about it a bit before replying and ended up forgetting :P. Come on irc sometime to discuss anything, I'm usually online. -- Prod (Talk) 17:56, 20 March 2007 (CDT)
Yea, the irc server seems to be down (hmm...MS patch should be available in about 3 minutes). What I meant was, we add those flags to the boxes in Template:MapleStory/Versions/Areas for the locations which have a FM entrance. At the bottom of the table we say something like "(flag image) - Locations with a Free Market entrance". -- Prod (Talk) 15:29, 21 March 2007 (CDT)

A desert area would be cool :D! *goes off to clear up some hdd space to dl some more clients. -- Prod (Talk) 13:54, 23 March 2007 (CDT)

Having seen the images you've uploaded, I'm eagerly awaiting seeing this new page ^_^. -- Prod (Talk) 21:34, 31 March 2007 (CDT)

That's half because the links don't use {{MapleStory/Skill}} and half because I didn't finish the archers skill page >.< (forgot about it). I'll try to fix the skill page now. If you update the builds page, the usage is on the template, and I've changed a few up as a demonstration. -- Prod (Talk) 18:02, 2 April 2007 (CDT)

Use this template for the linking (just make sure you use the proper skill names). Follow the instructions and it should work. Of course, it could be that the template needs a bit of work. Remind me about it tomorrow and I'll look into it;). -- Prod (Talk) 22:26, 16 April 2007 (CDT)

What JMS server do you play on? -- Prod (Talk) 19:09, 3 April 2007 (CDT)

Can you come on IRC for a few minutes? I want to discuss something major with you. -- Prod (Talk) 19:17, 10 April 2007 (CDT)

ha, ok thanks. it didn't occur to me to check history until now. XD IsaacGS 13:21, 13 March 2007 (CDT)

Your Userpage/MS features

On entries like Aqua Road dungeon/aquarium, can't they be combined since the entries are the same in the table? Aka, two rows become one? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 21:07, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

Also note that you're not noting EVERY area, mostly dungeons/towns but all you have to do is say Town then line break Dungeon; thus having two entries that could be combined would be better. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 21:17, 20 March 2007 (CDT)
Remember that if you find noting the dungeons significant then just append the name to the first column such as "Aquarium & Aquarium Dungeon (Aqua Road)" (I don't think those are the correct names but you should get the jist of it). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 21:25, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

Coke Town

I know a few people that play KMS. Yeah it is uncommon for them to remove an area. Since Coke Town never really had a official area name (just says hidden street for all the map road names), It was just considered an event town that lasted 8~ months I guess. I wonder if this means any other version may get a chance to have Coke Town in the future. Or maybe this is just a temporary removal, since the NPCs that take you there are still in the game, but they don't work anymore when you click on them. -- Takiten 21:54, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

Cleanup

I can't say I've looked over the major changes you've made in-depth, but when reducing the comments, try to keep the information, since many of the stuff written are opinions anyway. Most of the builds have pros and cons, and they do need discussion. -- Vandal (Whine) 22:37, 1 April 2007 (CDT)

If you need a page deleted (or image for that matter) label it with {{delete}} (with a reason) so that one of the sysops can delete it from the server. -- Prod (Talk) 19:08, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
When marking an image for renaming, try to put the new image name in with the brackets. This renaming stuff might have to be done by a sysop who doesn't play the game (most likely User:Rocky :P). -- Prod (Talk) 19:32, 13 April 2007 (CDT)
What should the new name for the file be? -- Prod (Talk) 20:33, 13 April 2007 (CDT)

World Tour Guide NPC

She is in every town except The Maple Island towns, Sleepywood, Florina Beach, Aquarium, Korean Folk Town, Omega Sector and Herb Town. I had them all listed on the main world article awhile back, but I cut it all out and just put "She is located in most towns". -- Takiten 11:31, 2 April 2007 (CDT)

Oh and the PVP arena doors for ChinaMS, TaiwanMS, and ThailandMS are in Perion, Orbis, El Nath, Aquarium, Ludibrium, Omega Sector, Showa Town, Yuyuan Garden, and Floating Market. Not sure if that's all of them, there might be one in Ximending or Night Market too. But the rest are correct. -- Takiten 11:35, 2 April 2007 (CDT)
Found a PVP portal in Night Market too in TaiwanMS. Also found out about that empty platform on the right side of Aquarium in our version. In ChinaMS/TaiwanMS/ThailandMS, the Maple Home Delivery Truck is parked on that platform that is empty in our version, because on the left side of Aquarium, the PVP Portal takes up a huge chunk of the map over there. -- Takiten 07:42, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

Image problems

Yea, for some reason the server which holds all the images, css and js has been acting up. It kinda comes and goes. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon. -- Prod (Talk) 01:09, 4 April 2007 (CDT)

Thanks

If I can, I'll get a dual monitor setup with the money, and be able to browse SW twice as fast :P. -- Prod (Talk) 22:25, 9 April 2007 (CDT)

.wz extraction.

You figured out how to do it? Congrats lol. I've been trying to learn for ages, and Wkkim showed me that guide, but I have no idea what to do with all that. Anyway, since you know how to extract data, I was wondering if you happened to have EuropeMS installed. I was thinking they might have the map names for Taiwan in their data since they have Taiwan monsters in their data. Might be able to see Xi Men Ding's English name. I'm sure you'll be checking MapleSEA's data after the patch to see if anything was added there too. -- Takiten 00:16, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

Ah, I figured out how to extract road/map names from JMS, MapleSEA and GMS. I found Amoria's road/map name in JMS data as:
Road: ウェディングタウン
Map: ウェディングタウン

Which translates to Wedding Town : Wedding Town. I wonder why they couldn't use アモリア, which directly means Amoria. Also noticed they don't have Amoria Dungeon in their data. I wonder when JMS is going to release this? -- Takiten 14:28, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

Monsters template

If others are willing to add the info, why not. Just let me make the template change(s) ;). On this topic, do we really need the JMS EXP parameter? -- Prod (Talk) 13:17, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

I'd rather not become a hidden-street mirror, since most of the info is already there. I'm on IRC right now if you want to discuss. -- Prod (Talk) 13:37, 21 April 2007 (CDT)
What order should we put the parameters in the template? I would think it might be best to follow the order in the data files if we ever put the data in directly from there (much easier). I'm not sure what they all mean, but they are found in the data file in the following order (stats to include in template as marked):
  • bodyAttack (??)
  • level (include)
  • maxHP (include)
  • maxMP (include)
  • speed
  • PADamage (ATK)
  • PDDamage (DEF)
  • MADamage (M.ATK)
  • MDDamage (M.DEF)
  • acc
  • eva (Avoid) (include)
  • exp (include)
  • undead (include)
  • pushed (knockback) (include)
  • elemAttr (elemental resistance)
  • fs (??)
  • summontype (??)

-- Prod (Talk) 14:07, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

Should we get rid of JMS? -- Prod (Talk) 14:19, 21 April 2007 (CDT)
All changed over. -- Prod (Talk) 15:14, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

Is that info from the regular JMS client? or is there a beta JMS client somewhere? -- Prod (Talk) 20:28, 22 April 2007 (CDT)

How did you figure out which were the new ones, and get their names in English (or did that fall within your Japanese ability)? BTW, don't forget about the MapleStory/Monsters/Complete list. -- Prod (Talk) 22:14, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
With all these new versions, it's gonna be a pain to keep up with the changes >.<. They're each almost 1 gig, and with 12 versions that comes out to almost 10 gigs :/. Are you able to come on IRC within the next 5-10 minutes? -- Prod (Talk) 22:28, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
I don't feel like starting a new thread, so how's the slightly fixed pets page? -- Prod (Talk) 19:37, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

Good news!!!

I have invited 2 people from Wikipedia to help us contributing MapleStory and 1 of them came. That person knows much about TaiwanMS and I think that he plays TaiwanMS. Soon, all of the wrong informations on TaiwanMS might be (or going to be) corrected. Vandalism warning

Please don't show the vandals that you're annoyed, that is what they want so they'll keep coming. Anyway I've decided to ask for a checkuser of the accounts here.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 03:02, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

Unfortunately, Echelon doesn't have CheckUser running yet... However, I have blocked Cedricong's IP, so he shouldn't be coming back (I hope). By the way, when a vandal edits a page more than once, you have to manually go back to the previous version not by him/her/it and save that, Undo only un-does the very last edit. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 14:33, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

ChinaMS Mushroom Town Training Camp.

I don't think the latest ChinaMS patch has it yet, cause the strings.wz shows the regular Mushroom Town map names still there. -- Takiten 18:02, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

Taipei 101 transportation.

Yeah that is the NPC. I think what happens though, is he takes you from the Ximending Subway to the first of 4 subway cars. Then you have to walk through the 4 subway cars, going through some devil slimes. After the 4th subway car, you "arrive" at the Taipei 101 Subway station. I'm not sure how the return is though. It might be that you talk to that npc at the Taipei 101 subway station, and have to walk through the 4 subway cars again to get back to the Ximending subway station. I think walking through the 4 subway car maps is suppose to simulate you riding on a subway train ride. I think he charges 2,000 mesos too. -- Takiten 18:02, 4 June 2007 (CDT)

Firefox 2.0

Hi Isaac. Thank you for the suggestion, but I've been using Firefox 2.0 since it's release. Thankfully, the spell checking has been very helpful, and has drastically cut down on the number of spelling mistakes that I've made, but one thing it can't do is find all of my typos; if I type bur instead of but, if I misspell a word so that it ends up as a different correctly spelled word, pluralizing words when I shouldn't, and obscure things like Pokemon names. So I really rely on the help of others to proof my work. Procyon (Talk) 09:51, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

MapleStory vandalism

Thanks for warning that user. I really wasn't sure what was vandalism, as I only play Global (and therefore have next to no knowledge of SEA). You have been Nominated for Adminship

I've nominated you in RfA, so please indicate your acceptance of the nomination on this page (if you wish to be an admin, that is) and fill out the questionnaire. Because you are so diligent in keeping the MapleStory article free of vandalism, I thought that it would be best if you were able to deal with deletion/rollback/blocking directly, since you seem to know what is going on with all of the different versions and such. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 13:51, 20 July 2007 (CDT)
