Google Adsense comments[edit]

I don't see the point of stirring up controversy over a decision that has been made primarily for the survival of this site, for the sake of your political agenda. Yes, we are a community, and yes, you are free to voice your opinion, but posting essentially the same complaint on three different pages is not exactly constructive behavior on your part. If you find the ads objectionable, don't use the site. It's as simple as that. I hope that you will stay and continue to contribute positively to the site, but I would advise against "stirring the pot" posts, or at the very least, keeping them to a minimum. thank you for your comments. harsh words, to be honest. political agenda? stir the pot? you know about "assume good faith", right? What I simply did, was cross referencing the various pieces of info, so that one might get the whole picture (without doing a tedious search). how else was I to tackle that issue? it relates to EQ - so I post on the EQ discussion site. it was in regards to a community issue - so I replied there. I assumed Echolon might be interested to, so I told him. you think that's too much, while I think I simply kept everyone in the loop. apart from that, Echolon was the only one who replied to my comment on the community page...--Kajolus 09:11, 14 February 2007 (CST)
I'm guessing your post relates to the game money selling sites that are advertised. I am the "maintainer" for the MapleStory guide, and we suffer from the same problem. However, almost every single community site for the game uses google ads, and has links to the same sites (some even blatantly advertise apart from the google ads). If you believe the issue was not properly resolved, bring it up on community issues again. Many of us read the posts, and just because Echelon was the only one who replied, doesn't mean we don't agree with him. IIRC, there is some kind of blacklist, but since this site will have ads from all sorts of games with lots of sites, maintaining a blacklist (whatever it's form) would be too much work.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but threatening to leave to get your way is not good faith. We would rather have you stay and contribute to the guides (you've done quite a bit already) but we can't keep you here against your will. -- Prod (Talk) 10:46, 14 February 2007 (CST)
Thank you for your useful comments, Prod. to be honest, I wasn't aware that I could re-open it at the community issue page. Will keep that in mind. :) Echolon mentioned, that there are ways of banning those sites, so I will check that out. by the way, I didn't threaten to leave - in order to get it my way. this surely was a misunderstanding - cause I don't think I'm that important, lol--Kajolus 08:23, 15 February 2007 (CST).
The reason no one replied is because you posted within an archived thread. There's a current adsense thread you could have brought it up in. Anyways, I think you're overreacting, it's just an ad, we don't support them, but they support us.--Notmyhandle 11:38, 14 February 2007 (CST)
Thanks Notmyhandle. well, my first reply was maybe a tad late, but the thread wasn't archived yet (Jan 26). I beg to differ though ("quote: "it's just an ad") as this prevents me form suggesting to friends improving the EQ strat wiki (as I've been doing it the past months in my sigs. i.e. in various EQ related sites), when there are Ingame currency selling ads up here. In the MMORPG world a kind of a Code of Conduct exists, which definitely condemns the buying of ingame money to "ease" your way up... BUT, no use discussing opinions. there is plenty of them out there ;) Adsense thread (http://strategywiki.org/wiki/StrategyWiki:Community_Issues#Adsense_Announcement - this one here?). I think the issue I am talking about may be a bit off-topic though. BUT, as Prod suggested, there is always the option to open a new topic.--Kajolus 08:23, 15 February 2007 (CST)
Yeah I know what Twinking is; I'm neither for or against it. --Notmyhandle 19:04, 15 February 2007 (CST)
I setup http://editthis.info/mmo_ad_blockers/Main_Page, based on input from an admin from a similar site.which. I will start to do a manual crosscheck, to see if the sites listed are really to be banned.--Kajolus 04:50, 5 March 2007 (CST)
