Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Linkirby! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or ask a sysop, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Please remember to sign your name when leaving comments on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! — Procyon 13:58, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Please do not completely replace other people's work[edit]

Sigma 7 worked very hard on that Abadox guide, and I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate you completely replacing everything he wrote with new material, particularly material that is less descriptive than what was there originally. I'm going to revert the content back to his work. You are welcome to add to it, or correct any mistakes, but please do not replace it. Procyon 13:58, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Neutral point of view[edit]

Guides are open for anyone to edit, and to accomodate multiple authors we've decided to use a neutral point of view, meaning content should be written in the third person, with no opinions and a somewhat professional tone. Please keep this in mind as you're editing, and try to avoid words like "I" or "we", or use of slang or non-factual information. Thanks for helping us keep our guide pages polished! — Procyon 13:59, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Preload buttons[edit]

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box (e.g. click on "Guide page" to add {{Header Nav}} to the top and {{Footer Nav}} to the bottom), which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. These templates are very handy because they include the templates that are required for each page type. If you are unsure about how to use them, or what pages to use them on, please let me know. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:29, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Image description and categorization[edit]

When uploading new images, be sure to give the image a suitable description and categorize the image in accordance with the wiki's policies. Generally, you only need a category on the type of image (screenshots, maps, artwork, etc...) and the guide-specific image category. You can read more about the policy here. As I don't know whether the images are taken from the Gold and Silver versions or from the Crystal version, I can only give the current images the screenshot category, so you'll have to fill in the guide-specific image category by yourself as well as the description. T.testLP(talk) 11:52, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

When uploading, please add at last 2 Categories. One Game Category and another one which the pic belong to (Screenshots, Icons, Artworks, etc). Thank you for your work. Paco (talk) 13:28, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

The plural of "Bomberman" is "Bombermen"[edit]

In the case when the guide author is referring to multiple Bomberman characters, it is appropriate to use the term "Bombermen" so I reverted your changes. Procyon 02:40, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Pokemon encounter % rates[edit]

From what source are you getting your Pokemon encounter % rates? Procyon 01:34, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

From the Bulbapedia. --Linkirby (talk) 01:42, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
OK, could you please state that as your source in your edit summary so that we know your numbers are valid? Thank you. Procyon 02:31, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
Even better, please copy and paste the URL of the page you are copying from so it can be referred to in the future (that page is likely to be updated if it is on bulbapedia, though rates may not change). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:15, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

Edit quality[edit]

Hi Linkirby. First, I want to thank you for adding the screenshot to Pokémon Gold and Silver/Route 29. We need a lot more of those, so if you could continue to contribute them, that would be great. However, your most recent edit to Pokémon Gold and Silver/Dark Cave entitled "Catch a Geodude" is unfortunately quite hard to understand. Furthermore, it's not really all that helpful to readers. Since Geodude is already mentioned in the section above your edit, I'm going to remove your addition. Please don't be offended. Procyon 01:21, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Update the ToC[edit]

So... were you ever planning to add a link to [[Pokémon Gold and Silver/What's New in Pokémon Crystal]] in Pokémon Gold and Silver/Table of Contents, or were you just waiting for someone else to do it for you? :/ Procyon 21:41, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Adding the link to the new page: +1 point. Removing perfectly valid links from the ToC in the process: -2 points. I shouldn't have asked you to do it. I'll fix it myself. Procyon 21:48, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for that. It's because i'm creating some new pages to add in the ToC but i messed up. Linkirby (talk)

Can i remove the pages Evolution and catching pokémon now since the information of both pages are in the page catch em all? Linkirby (talk)
Ah, OK, now I understand what you were going for. I'll take care of it for you. This is why Edit Summaries are so important. When you don't provide them, we have no way to distinguish an intentional deletion from a mistake. In the future, just explain why you're removing stuff in the Edit Summary and we'll understand.
