Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Myth! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide. If you have a question about the content on this wiki, you can check out our staff lounge page. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the community portal talk page. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! -- Prod (Talk) 19:26, 17 May 2007 (CDT)

Please be careful not to start suffering from Editcountitis ;) -- Prod (Talk) 12:21, 24 June 2007 (CDT)
Don't worry about becoming an admin, it's just added responsibility with no glory :P. And it's a good thing you aren't suffering from editcountitis, cause you'll never catch up with me!!! I mean...ahem. -- Prod (Talk) 23:05, 24 June 2007 (CDT)
If you need a page deleted, mark it with {{delete}} and a reason. If you accidentally put info on one page, and meant to have it somewhere else, use the "Move" button at the top of the page and move it to its new location. -- Prod (Talk) 20:41, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

Let me know what kind of screenshots you want for the game (and which version you want them from, if that matters, I'll use Diamond if you don't specify one). I've recently downloaded the ROMs for both D and P (they run slower than heck, but hey, they work). I obviously won't be able to get screenshots from later in the game yet, but I can help out with the early stuff. Also, you should archive your talk page, it is getting pretty large. -- Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 09:51, 19 June 2007 (CDT)

You didn't ask, I just thought I'd be helpful. -- Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 23:34, 19 June 2007 (CDT)
Usually, the guide sections (like Twinleaf Town and whatnot). As for why not later in the game, I haven't began playing it yet :P. Just tell me whatever parts you think would help illustrate the strategy. -- Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 08:51, 20 June 2007 (CDT)

Just to let you know, you're almost in the running for the coveted "more edits to your user page than edits to guides" award. NMH is the champ, but you're almost about to pass him. Procyon (Talk) 15:00, 22 June 2007 (CDT)

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon/Walkthrough[edit]

Hi Myth. You put a {{delete}} tag on Pokémon Mystery Dungeon/Walkthrough, but it can't be deleted, because the Walkthrough page is an integral part of each guide. You'll have to move stuff around so that it's used properly and not duplicated. ;-) Thanks. --DrBob (Talk) 16:56, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

It has 3 sentences on the page, nothing major about that. Check out our standard example guide for what that page should look like. -- Prod (Talk) 23:42, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

"I put it there because it couldn't be turned into what was suggested on the talk page, and it has no usful content as of now. It will have to be majorly redone if it's going to stay. Myth 23:38, 29 June 2007 (CDT)"

"I see. Great example ^_^ BTW, the page length for Pokemon Mystery dungeon isn't the problem; the problem is the fact that it's a separate strategy for a section, putting it out of context. Myth (talk)"

Myth, I'm losing my patience—no, I've already lost it a while ago. Just shut up, stop coming up with pointless explanations, and fix the page already! As of right now, for better or for worse, you are the primary contributor to that guide. If you can't take responsibility for replacing the content of one page (which you are driving everyone else nuts about) then what are you doing here? You made Garrett take the time to do something, that should have taken you five minutes to do on your own, just to stop your complaining. And I'm very upset about that. That he felt he had to take the time to do something you should have done on your own. You spent more time whining about why the page needs to go than it would have taken you to replace the content with something useful! How hard is it to erase what was there and put something like "Walkthrough explanation coming soon." or "This page will explain how to use the guide." or anything!!! There is no one on this site who need his hand held as much as you, and I don't understand why. Everyone starts out new and has to learn, but this goes way beyond learning how to edit guides. If you want to continue to be a valued member of this community, you're going to have to start taking responsibility for the problems that you create, and fix them on your own. There are no if's, and's, or but's about it. Do not allow this situation to repeat itself. Procyon (Talk) 06:05, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
As I said, the Walkthrough page is an integral part of every guide, and cannot be deleted or missed out. I know you have the best of intentions, but you should embrace the Wikipedia ideal of being bold more. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 14:17, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
I appreciate the response that you left on my talk page. I'm glad that you understood my point, despite the amount of anger I used when expressing it. Myth, you don't need to justify yourself to me or to anyone else. All we ask is that you be as accountable for your work as we all are. I know that you can, you've shown us when it was about something that was really important to you. There are fun aspects about writing a guide, and not-so-fun aspects. Good writers treat both kinds of aspects (the fun and not-so-fun) with equal importance. I'm now confident that you will know how to resolve similar matters in the future. Procyon (Talk) 09:11, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Your sig[edit]

Hi, sometimes I see you add a talk link at the end of your sig, to add this in, go to preferences and add in the nickname this code [[User:Myth|Myth]] ([[User talk:Myth|Talk]]) there, then tick the checkbox under it, sorry if I've said this before and hope this helps.--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 06:59, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

You need to tick the box saying "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" then it should work.--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 01:50, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Uploading images[edit]

First, the image you want to upload has to be on your harddrive. Next, click Special:Upload. Source filename is the name of the file on your comp (use browse to find it). Destination is the name on the server (for Mystery dungeon, something like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon some name.png (or whatever the extension is. Add some categories based on the guidelines and then click upload. Me ad DrBob are on irc right now if you need more help. -- Prod (Talk) 12:27, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Please also remember to put an extension on the image e.g .jpg .--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 15:18, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
Please, when you upload the files remember to leave the .jpg in the destination filename, it just creates a lot of work for us syspos.--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 15:30, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
I've renamed the two that went wrong, I normally save the pics with the strategywiki name to begin with, it saves a lot of hassle in the upload screen. the dialga/Palika pic is now at Image:Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Dialga-Palkia.jpg--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 15:38, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Polite request to limit personal edits[edit]

Hi Myth, Procyon here, totally not upset or anything, but again, I have to ask you to try to cut down on the number of edits that you're making to anything other than guide-specific material. Archiving is good, but most people tend to archive once every three to six months, not every day. I'm not sure if you're aware of the impact you're having on the history, but every time you make an edit, you're saving more and more information to the database each time. Now, it's not like we're going to run out of space anytime soon, but each of these edits that you do, whether it's writing back to someone just to say "Thank you", or updating your to-do list, or touching your archive frequently, that's just that much more space that you're using up that could be otherwise dedicated towards walkthroughs and guides. I am in no way telling you to stop editing your user pages entirely, they're there for you to use how you see fit. But it would be greatly appreciated if you could limit it to, let's say 10 edits per day, or something there abouts. The closer you can get it to once a day would be great, but let's take baby steps first. Thanks very much. Procyon (Talk) 13:24, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

I just meant 10 edits to your user page and related pages specifically. By all means, make as many edits as you need to on game-related pages, that's what we're here for. Of course, you already know to preview your edits before you save, so you're not one of those micro-edit offenders who makes ten changes to ten different parts of the same page and saves each change individually instead of gathering them up into one giant change and saving them all at once. That's just as wasteful, but you don't do that sort of thing, so it's all good. Procyon (Talk) 15:10, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
I suggest sticking to personal milestones. For example, I only update the number of watched pages every 100 or so (or if I feel like throwing in a value during a different edit). And I only update the number of pictures after every 10 or so. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:16, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm talking about only changing it after a certain amount of new edits (or value changes). This is what I do: I have about 94 image contributions at the moment (statistic on my user page); once I have 104, I'll change the statistic, and then at 114 I will again, or whatever. Sometimes I go by 11 so that the digits are always changing (94, 105, 116, etc.). I get bored of seeing the same thing all the time. For number of edits however, I only update the statistic every 500 to 1000. No one really cares how many you have, but a large value change is significant and identifiable. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:55, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

I'm going to reiterate Procyon's request; could you please try to limit your silent ninja edits, and make edits to guides instead? If you want to have a conversation with someone, why not arrange to talk to them on IRC (irc:// --DrBob Needcat icon.png0005.svg 18:52, 14 September 2007 (CDT)

Stub pages[edit]

Hi. In future, could you create pages like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon/Battle Concepts only if you have some content for them? Creating stubs with absolutely no content doesn't help too much, as it means people can no longer immediately see from links to the page that it needs content. I haven't deleted Pokémon Mystery Dungeon/Battle Concepts, but I've marked it as a stub, and I hope you'll put some content on it soon. Happy editing! --DrBob (Talk) 19:49, 3 July 2007 (CDT)

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Completion[edit]

Just to let you know, I don't think I did tht. I checked thrugh the history, and my only contributions were in the earlierstages of the guide. Lunar Knight (Talk to me + Contribs) 14:37, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Did I do that? Sorry about that. Lunar Knight (Talk to me + Contribs) 14:42, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
Myth, check the date, it is: 14 October 2006, this is way before you (Or I for that matter) started editing.--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 14:45, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
Dunno, maybe u forgot to save or something, I'll check the history though it dosn't really matter.--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 14:49, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
You're making me feel...wikiold :P. -- Prod (Talk) 22:23, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Linkable Image, In Sig[edit]

Hey Myth, so for the code just use IMAGEURL where PAGENAME is the name of the page you want the image to link to and IMAGEURL is the actual url of the image (for instance not but rather ( ) if using an image on SW). Hope that helps. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:38, 24 August 2007 (CDT)

Sorry NMH, but I edited your comment to make it more apparent, hope you don't mind :). Anyway, if you want to make an image smaller than that default size, try something like ( ) - it seems to only work down to 24px. I'll be writing a section in the guide soon about custom sigs, so just hold on until then if you need extra help! -- Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 22:28, 27 August 2007 (CDT)
bmup. oh, and come onto IRC sometime if you needs extra help (I might be playing MapleStory and/or be at marching band practice (today), so just be patient with that) -- Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:09, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
Myth, he gave you instructions already... use as the url with GameCube_logo.png substituted with the filename you want to use. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:42, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
You need to have the system generate a thumbnail of that size first though, just add the code for the image to be the right size, feel free to add it to my image thumb page here. BTW you also need to change the b and b9 with the ones in the file's URL.--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 10:33, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

Also, if you are going to have a linkable image in your signature, it is a requirement that you make your sig into a "template" format. This means, you put the code of your sig on a page such as User:Myth/sig or something, then create another page at User:Myth/sig2 containing only {{User:Myth/sig}}. Then, in your preferences, you put {{subst:User:Myth/sig2}} (the reason this is two-step is because if you don't put the subst: part in your preferences, it'll put subst: there for you). Now, whenever you sign, you'll get a template call to your sig code instead of all the code itself. -- Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:14, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

Is it a requirement?? I thought it was optional?--Rocky (Talk - Contributions) 15:16, 26 September 2007 (CDT)
I made it a requirement, so there :P. I guess the final decision is up to DrBob though, seeing as he's the head of the Look/Feel committee. Oh, and Rocky, your sig took up twice as much space as your comment, so FIX IT ALREADY!!!!1!!1!one -- Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 18:45, 26 September 2007 (CDT)
Yeah Rocky its an secret policy. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:32, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

pokemon dungeon participation update[edit]

Hey, I finally got a copy of red team so I'm going to take intensely detailed notes this time. Playing through 3 times still seems like the best way of finding the standard items and encounters.

Also, I stopped working on the item list since you mentioned you were going to use a devise to give you the whole entire list... Since that hasn't happened yet I'm going back to adding items to the list as I find them. Well, just wanted to let you know what is going on so we are on the same page. The guide is really developing nicely. --Zaiqukaj 21:21, 4 September 2007 (CDT)

Hey hun, thought I would give you an update and try to get a favor from you. Since I now have a copy of red rescue team I'm starting at the beginning and taking detailed notes of the events that happen throughout the game. Right now I'm entering the story bit for Mt. Steel. I'm pretty bad at summeries(not good at being brief and some of the wording is funny). Could I get you to take a look at it and fix anything that is phrased oddly or dosen't really need to be there. I noticed that most of the practically finished games also go into story bits so those are now on my to-do list as well.
Since this is the part where the shops are explained I included a quick rundown of the stores in Pokemon Square. Do you think that should be on its own page? For now I'm putting them on their own page since even a brief summery of each shop takes up a huge amount of space. --Zaiqukaj 07:29, 6 October 2007 (CDT)
