Capcom vs. SNK 2 Fighter Portraits[edit]

Did you find these somewhere or are you making them somehow? If you're making them, please note that what's currently being used for Ryu is actually Evil Ryu's protrait (straight smile, darker collar, darker eyes). --Notmyhandle 17:10, 9 January 2007 (CST)

Thank you Notmyhandle. I'll try to fix it, but I'm afraid that it won't be anytime soon. I am creating them, and it's a time consuming process. But I appreciate the heads up. Procyon 17:47, 9 January 2007 (CST)
How are you doing it? I want to help. --Notmyhandle 18:20, 9 January 2007 (CST)
How familiar are you with either Photoshop or GIMP? I'm using this screenshot as a source image. But you have to create a path around the diamond border, and turn the path into a selection. Then copy and paste it to a new image with a transparent background. You should end up with something roughly 63x63 or 64x64 pixels big. In GIMP, if you hold down Alt, you can drag the selection border around without having to recreate a new path, so you can copy another face. What I failed to do with the first two images (and hence, will have to redo) is convert the image from RGB to indexed. Then save the final result as a png and upload as "Portrait_CVS2_Name.png". Then all you have to do is change the "No|Portrait" in the Moves Header to "CVS2|Name". It's not an easy process if you want to do it right. Procyon 18:32, 9 January 2007 (CST)
Thanks for the pic, higher res than the GameCube ones (actually they use completely different icons, these are more like the game art rather than in game pictures of the characters). I don't have that much time right now, but I can take care of any leftovers when I get back later tonight. (If you do none, then all the better, we can split the job). I just did E. Honda's, it came out at 59x59 pixels, where I cropped it to exactly just what was him without a border, then added a custom border since it isn't exact in the actual photo (they allow images to extend outside the little diamond). Anyways, I think it looks good, tell me what you think about it. --Notmyhandle 19:01, 9 January 2007 (CST)
That looks awesome Notmyhandle, great job. We can split it up, so that I will do everyone from Terry's row down to the bottom, and you can do everyone above Terry and up. (I already finished much of the bottom two rows...) But don't worry about Eagle, Balrog, and Athena. I'll get them from another picture. Procyon 19:10, 9 January 2007 (CST)
Thanks, we're missing Ult. Rugal and Shin Akuma though... --Notmyhandle 19:17, 9 January 2007 (CST)
Got 'em covered ;) Procyon 19:24, 9 January 2007 (CST)
In case you're wondering why some of your images look good on their page but not on the articles is because, like you said (c'mon Proc xD), they have to be either 63x63 or 64x64. --Notmyhandle 20:42, 9 January 2007 (CST)
I know, some of them worked out and some didn't. The ones that I couldn't get from the original source ended up smaller, and I didn't think the padding would matter too much. Turns out that it does. I may be able to go back and repair the broken ones, unless you would like to do it. Procyon 20:48, 9 January 2007 (CST)
My pleasure. I'll have 'em done tonight. Original source might be helpful though, if it's online (I haven't checked if I need to do anything beyond extend the border and fix the black border around the character). --Notmyhandle 22:53, 9 January 2007 (CST)
Shin Akuma & Balrog done so far (Balrog needed extra work, part of him was cut off, had that extra strip of gold on his border). Quick question, I assume you're using GIMP? If you also have photoshop, what indexed color settings do you use (GIMP too maybe)? I've never worked with indexed (just RGB and CMYK) so this is a little new to me.
Really nice job on those Notmyhandle, the fix-ups came out great. I do use GIMP. I start each image out in RGB, and then I just allow GIMP to assign the most optimized palette. It calculates each one on an individual basis, so there's no one palette that I'm using for all images. But indexing the image cuts the size down substantially. It would probably have been easier for you to convert the images back to RGB to operate on them, and convert them to indexed when you are done, but the work is already completed, so this is probably a moot point. Procyon 07:54, 10 January 2007 (CST)
Check out WP:Pngcrush for increased compressions. -- Prod (Talk) 10:10, 10 January 2007 (CST)
Prod, they're already 6kb... I'm not wasting my time with that. --Notmyhandle 17:55, 10 January 2007 (CST)

Proc, for the portrait pics, should they simply cat'd with fighter portraits or category:screenshots as well, since thats where they come from... but yeah its not a screenshot so I see why they shouldn't be. I think I tagged one with category:screenshots, but say the word and I'll hunt it down. --Notmyhandle 18:16, 10 January 2007 (CST)

I mean, I personally don't care too much, but eventually, someone will have to fix that. BTW, Prod's comment was just a suggestion, he was trying to be helpful. Procyon 19:21, 10 January 2007 (CST)
Of course it was, just doesn't apply at the moment. Anyways can you do some more of the guys? I've done like 4 today and they take me forever cuz detailing the border correctly... yeah. We need the SNK guys. I'm still fixing the rest of yours and I'll do the rest of the Capcom guys. --Notmyhandle 19:55, 10 January 2007 (CST)
lol, ok. I'll try to fill in the rest tonight. Procyon 09:07, 11 January 2007 (CST)

MK:A move list solution[edit]

Hey what's up? I was just wondering about your thoughts on the Mortal Kombat: Armageddon movelist alternatives shown 1 (or if you came up with your own alternative). Thanks... see ya around! --Antaios 20:18, 10 January 2007 (CST)

Well, I for one am for the custom table, but I don't see why we can't modify the special move template to add additional columns like that. --Notmyhandle 20:26, 10 January 2007 (CST)
Here is my thought about this particular problem. I don't know if it can actually be implemented, but I would actually prefer that the moves not be listed by specific controller button, but by some icon that represents the mapping. The truth is people can remap their controllers, and though it's less likely with a game like MK:A, representing each move with an attack icon solves both the remapping problem, and the need to list moves twice, which is purely redundant. I realize MK:A is a little unorthodox in the labels it uses for attacks (attack1, attack2, etc.) but special MK:A icons for those attacks can be made and used, and the move list would be correct regardless of platform. I'll stop there for now and wait for your thoughts. Procyon 09:07, 11 January 2007 (CST)
Yeah I agree, I like the way move lists for Capcom and SNK games are. --Notmyhandle 21:11, 11 January 2007 (CST)
I think that's a perfect idea! Good job thinking of it... now we just have to implement it. --Antaios 21:31, 11 January 2007 (CST)

Series deletions[edit]

I perfectly agree with your moving all the stuff from Category:Super Mario to Category:Mario, makes far more sense. However, I think that some of the others warrant some discussion. Mario RPG, Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are all a sub-series on their own (though it's somewhat difficult to place them all in either Category:Paper Mario or Category:Mario RPG due to the names, though they are all RPGs). One that I feel is definitely necessary is Category:Mega Man Battle Network. It's got 5 iterations of games for it already, and it's a significantly different type of game than the original Category:Mega Man games. I'm not too sure about the Category:Mario and Luigi series as I don't know the games that were part of it. -- Prod (Talk) 00:19, 13 January 2007 (CST)

Hi Prod. Those moves were a result of a discussion that I had with Echelon, but I may have interpreted his suggestion too liberally. The idea was if I want to see all of the games that Mario is in, and I look in the Mario category, why don't I see Paper Mario? The answer, of course, is that it's in the sub-category. But I might be looking in the Mario category to see all of the games that Mario appeared in. So perhaps the games that I moved belong in the Mario category and their respective sub-categories that I removed, which is easy to remedy. That way, I can see all of the games that Mario appeared in (including the Paper Mario games) or I can see just the Paper Mario games. I'll restore those sub-categories. P.S. Did you ever get my email so that you could email me back?Procyon 07:17, 13 January 2007 (CST)
Actually I was thinking the same thing. However, the question arises, what happens if the person wants to see only the main series? For the moment, what you suggest is the best option I think, but I wonder if there is a better solution. And yes, I did get your email...then I realized I haven't used Yahoo in Ages. I'm trying to get the yahoo on msn thing working right now, so hopefully I'll show up soon. (Thanks for reminding me, I've had a lot on my plate recently). -- Prod (Talk) 10:30, 13 January 2007 (CST)
If we really want to categorize platform mario games into their own category then we can and should. Look, it's a defining separation. Perhaps we could even go and create mario sub pages defined by genre (sports, platform, rpg, misc or whatever for those such as Mario Party). This would be a good idea, so long as we have no regrets to storage space. We need to define what we want at StrategyWiki - more cats for ease of use, or generalization. --Notmyhandle 01:35, 14 January 2007 (CST)

Arcade Button creation request[edit]

Hey Proc, File:Arcade-Stick-Rightleft.png exists, but LeftRight doesn't; I need it for Blank's move list for Capcom vs. SNK 2 so could you just flip it and save for me? Thanks. --Notmyhandle 23:15, 19 January 2007 (CST)

Uh. Cancel that; I just realized what I was seeing was wrong... --Notmyhandle 23:17, 19 January 2007 (CST)

Interactive Zelda Flash Overworld Quest 1 Map[edit]

Hi, you removed the link I put in for Zelda maps because there are already maps for Zelda on this site. However there is an interactive flash map of the overworld. Is there a way to directly put that in The Legend of Zelda Strategy Wiki page? If not can a link be placed directly to that map?

It at http://www.nesmaps.com/maps/Zelda/ZeldaOverworld1stQuest.html

Thanks for the input. Snesmaster

There are a couple of problems with this. First and foremost, Wiki sites can not support flash content. Second, we can not include that person's work without his/her permission. Third, the Zelda guide itself refers to eight divisions of the Overworld that are not presented the same way on the interactive map. Finally, the goal of StrategyWiki is to be as self contained as possible. That's one of the reasons that you don't see external links in every guide the way you do in Wikipedia. Links should only be provided if the information provided by link is distinct from information that could be otherwise presented in the guide.
Again, I would urge you to contribute new content to StrategyWiki. You're obviously knowledgeable about games, there must be more that you can provide the site with then offsite links to maps. Procyon 12:46, 24 January 2007 (CST)

Re: Zelda disambiguation and Joust achievements[edit]

Yeah, looking back that makes sense. I'll do those achievements right now. GarrettTalk 17:48, 30 January 2007 (CST)

Layout[edit]

No problem :). Somehow the picture at the top was messing with the layout, and I only just realized it was the picture causing the problem. -- Prod (Talk) 22:29, 30 January 2007 (CST)

Plots on main page[edit]

Really? Well, in that case, I'll put it back once I'm done cleaning up the guide. Sorry.--Dan 19:15, 2 February 2007 (CST)

I approve.--Dan 19:22, 2 February 2007 (CST)

Sonic the Hedgehog Badniks page[edit]

Saw you further cleaned up what I had changed (I guess we both changed it independently :P). Just wondering why you have the title of the page a second time as a section heading, I find it somewhat redundant. -- Prod (Talk) 12:46, 5 February 2007 (CST)

Heh, don't worry too much about overwriting my edits, cause I typically use regex's (that one took about 30 secs :P). That's actually why the (JP) ones at the bottom didn't get changed, they broke the mold. And I do agree, with the small amount of info put for each of the enemies, == seems a bit too big. If you figure out a better way, please tell me :). -- Prod (Talk) 13:49, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Unrelated, the part that says JP indicates a japanese translation... what is it translated into? Romanji? Note that if my addition isn't clear. --Notmyhandle 17:01, 5 February 2007 (CST)

Pokemon - Suggestions please?[edit]

Hello thank you for the note on my talk page, I have acted on it and have made 9 pages on the Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal Page, is there any way that I can improve the page to completion level 2?

Thanks Rocky 13:32, 8 February 2007 (CST)

I'll try that, thanks again! Rocky 14:12, 8 February 2007 (CST)

Re: Pokemon edits[edit]

Hi Garrett. I'm afraid of coming off like a control freak, but I have plans for filling those sections out. If you really feel strongly about your edits, I'll leave them, but if it's alright with you, I'll probably end up replacing them. I just don't want to upset you. On the other hand, I really appreciate your post write-up edits. Let me know how you feel. Thanks Procyon 22:48, 8 February 2007 (CST)

No, that's OK. I didn't notice that stub was started by you. I know how you like to do everything in one big, clean edit rather than the dozens of little improvements I tend to do. :) If you give me an idea of what pages you're going to be writing (or, better yet, which ones you aren't going to be writing) I could help fill in those gaps. GarrettTalk 23:38, 8 February 2007 (CST)

Pokemon Screenshots[edit]

How do you take screenshots of games on the gameboy? I want to use them on the guides but have no idea how to get them.

P.S I made edits to the second page but the server went down so I will redo them.

P.P.S I feel that the ToC for R/B/Y was better the way it was before. It makes it turn into a walkthrough rather than a list of stats that happen on that route, you could revisit a place and that may have to be a spoiler if it is early on in the game. Check out here(a walkthrough) and here(a list) for what I mean Rocky 10:38, 9 February 2007 (CST)

R/B/Y[edit]

Should I be bold in editing the route 1 page or leave you a few days to start the walkthrough your improved way?

Rocky 12:38, 9 February 2007 (CST)

OK, I'll start on silver/gold, Thanks

Rocky 12:38, 9 February 2007 (CST)

External Links[edit]

Hello Procyon. From what I can tell the purpose of this site is the be the ultimate resource for video games and everything to do with them. We do not have the resources to actually complete this task, we cannot host mods to games, patches, fan art, and other such contributions. Instead we can make the ultimate guide for the game. We should not consider ourselves so great as to deny the advantages of other websites and people, we are not the "only place that you need to go to find out anything about a game." If we are trying to be akin to Wikipedia, it is not a one stop resource, rather it is the ultimate starting place. No academic would dare cite Wikipedia, statements on there cannot be guaranteed to be correct. It does provide an amazingly concise and elaborate description which lets users find search terms and links to bring them to resources whose authenticity can be ascertained. Therefore I see no reason why we should not include external links in our pages, if we want to help people the most we should not attempt to limit their resources, rather expand them to be as large as possible. I would like a rationale as to [i]why[/i] we should limit people when it is within our capacity to grant them the best possible resources. --Chrono Warrior 3 21:48, 9 February 2007 (CST)

Thank you for the prompt response. While I do believe that I will challenge the policy, you do make an excellent point so I will be holding off until I can think of a solution to that and other problems that might arise from offering external links. As I am sure that my solution will not be perfect, hopefully after posting it others will help contribute to it in the full spirit of "wikiing" or whatever term would best suit. --Chrono Warrior 3 22:12, 9 February 2007 (CST)

Pokémon S/G/C[edit]

I have started the walkthrough and am up to Route 31, can you help me to make it look like yours, where do you get the pictures and how do I make the text big

P.S How do you find out encounter rates, it would be helpful?

Just noticed that your images are in Pokemon not Pokémon. Should I start transferring Images over from Bulbapedia to help Rocky 12:54, 10 February 2007 (CST)

What about for sapphire and silver/gold/crystal? a ruby image is:

Sorry, while I was uploading I put charmeleon as 004, here is the link, can you remove it!
I've just noticed that all my images have gone and the links are broken, something went wrong HELP:-<!! P.S They're in the upload log
P.P.S Some of yours are gone as well
How do I make them preserve transparency, it it an option or is it a problem with the server?

O.K, I've right clicked on the image but the only option is .BMP, do I just put .PNG instead

Rocky 15:20, 10 February 2007 (CST)

Sorry, my only option is .BMP if I click save picture as, My workaround is to use Paint shop pro to copy and paste into then save as .PNG but that loses the transparancies.
Here is a screenshot, delete it after looking Rocky 15:35, 10 February 2007 (CST)

P.P.S, I'm considering stopping the guide, a conversation with Dr. Bob reminded me that I'm only halfway through the walkthrough and these pages, here and here have been really hard going for me, I'll probably go to the Pokémon League then leave someone Kanto.

Thanks for the tip, I've started neatening up the guide, when I'm done I will start Kanto :)Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 02:04, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Image Upload page[edit]

The only thing I know about is MediaWiki:Uploadtext but I don't think it has what you are looking for. Good choice DrBob, I like Moggy's new home. Procyon 15:16, 2 February 2007 (CST)
"Moggy" was just off the top of my head. I'm sure a better name -- such as "Paws" (get it?) -- should be used. :-D --DrBob (Talk) 16:30, 2 February 2007 (CST)
You know, the man makes a good point, "Paws" is pretty funny. Moggy Paws would be cuteness overkill though. Procyon 19:19, 2 February 2007 (CST)

Route 24-25[edit]

Proycon, I thought you might like to see this link here, it might be a good idea to put this in the walkthrough or at least warn people not to battle the trainer. I don't know what you think about this but I thought you might want to know. Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (talk) 12:07, 22 February 2007 (CST)

Gyromite Game Maps[edit]

That game brings back lots of great memories. Back in the day the first Nintendo System I got was the Deluxe Set that came with Gyromite and Duck Hunt. I am currently working on making maps for F-Zero on the SNES, however I could take a break on that and do some for Gyromite. That is one of the games I have thought about mapping. I have just not gotten to it yet. Once I get some I will place a link to them on the Gyromite page you are working on. Then you can upload the maps you want from my map site, and place them in the Gyromite page where you would like them to appear. --Snesmaster 16:15, 27 February 2007 (CST)

Standardization Policy[edit]

Just asking, here it has controls in bold but for the Sword of Mana article, I've added the buttons, e.g A button, am I doing it wrong or does the policy need to be updated, also is there a policy on spelling (English/American), I've found this onWikipedia but what is the actual policy--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 15:14, 28 February 2007 (CST)

The policy you linked to needs to be updated (as do a lot of our "official" docs :-( ). As for spelling, it doesn't matter as long as the page is consistent, so if someone starts a page in American, you will unfortunately have to continue in American. (This is like Wikipedia, I believe.) --DrBob (Talk) 15:40, 28 February 2007 (CST)
That is wikipedia policy. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 20:51, 28 February 2007 (CST)

I've asked at the Staff Lounge about a Wikipedia userbox template that I've made here. I haven't had any respone for days so I'll do it myself but what should I call it?

Pokemon Move List[edit]

Thanks for reminding me, I was using my game to copy the moves over, does the list count moves "Imported" From FR/LG?

P.S do you know how to add a line in the box for the signature, it's not that important, just asking--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 12:44, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Signature[edit]

What I was saying about the signature is that I've found out from Ryan Schmidt that I can use my rock as a link, here it is, half my user page, half my talk

Rally-X Rock.pngUser:RockyUser talk:Rocky

The only problem is that the bar for Raw signatures won't let you press enter and you can't use (br) (triangular brackets, I know) so it comes as one line and won't work. Do you know any other way to miss a line?--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 13:00, 6 March 2007 (CST)

I really don't think we should be using image maps in signatures even if it were possible, seems like far too much effort and code just to sign talk messages. We don't want to clutter discussions with all these tags and such. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 13:19, 6 March 2007 (CST)

What is the long way to make a bulbapedia link (the template puts Pokemon after each name) :( --Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 14:51, 6 March 2007 (CST)

P.S What should we do about absorb, the page has already been created here and I feel bad marking it as delete because it is has taked 9 out of the user's 17 edits.

Sorry to intrude, Proc. To do a Bulbapedia link, just do Bulbapedia:Insert Page Name to have a pretty link with the bulb linking to say, the Main Page (You have to declare the alt text though). --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:09, 6 March 2007 (CST)
Err, I didn't do the links, I had an edit conflict with someone, now i'm in a mess, I've put my extras as a hidden comment but I don't want to delete the links, is there any way to merge the two, my extra's and the original links

The Tower of Druaga sprites[edit]

I've lower-cased the "sprites" in the category name. ;-) --DrBob (Talk) 16:16, 8 March 2007 (CST)

I didn't see anything using it, so I assumed you were subst'ing it. It seems a bit unnecessary, since it's just shortening out 5 words and some punctuation. Though, that gives me the idea that perhaps we can create a template for images in general. Something like . That way if someone wants to add an image, they would do something like Name. Of course, resizing, frame/thumb, and all those other fun things would get annoying to support, and may negate the benefit. -- Prod (Talk) 22:07, 8 March 2007 (CST)
I really don't think it'd be useful for something like that, the Image tag is pretty straightforward, and you aren't even eliminating characters by using a template, but you're creating another file. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 09:58, 9 March 2007 (CST)
Wait... I thought that templates were applied, on the fly, at the time of the page request. And that theoretically, what I'm saving to the database is a condensed version of what I want displayed, because I'm getting a character savings by using the template instead of spelling it out. If I were to use subst, then yes, I would agree it would be a complete waste. But leaving it as a template, I decrease the amount of data needed to store the text of the guide. Am I completely off base about that? Procyon 10:02, 9 March 2007 (CST)
Well if the file is named monster.png, your template would save monster (30 char) into the file of the page to be parsed by the server when it is accessed, without the template it would be . (30 char). I assume that the image tag would be faster then the template tag, as the template would simple be a file access which would then create the image tag. Two steps would always take longer then just one. Although this would seem that all templates are worthless, as they are more steps, but since we save human time in updating and placing them normally, they are advantageous, but your template wouldn't really save human time. In fact, the brackets of templates take longer to type then then braces of interwiki-links and tags (as mediawiki developers probably realized, since interwiki links are used more). Although we still use your concept, such as with cade, but that's mostly for ease of use as it doesn't require as many characters and doesn't require knowledge of filenames (sometimes), this wouldn't have either of those benefits. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 10:31, 9 March 2007 (CST)
OK, well, I have no problem switching it. But before I do, understand how frequently I'm using it on The Tower of Druaga/Floor 1-10. I'm nearing 100 uses. And technically speaking, I believe the server is supposed to cache the template upon the first time it is requested, so it shouldn't be hitting the server for each and every usage, just the first. I could be wrong about that though. What it means, is the CPU does the brunt of the work, not the drive-IO. And text splicing for a CPU is virtually free when compared to drive-IO speeds. Procyon 10:40, 9 March 2007 (CST)
(edit conflict) Yeah, I'm sure that's fine, it's very much like the move lists. Good point with the caching though. Slime_Green is 27 char, and is 46, so with 100+ uses and cached templates, I see the benefit. You may want to lock it though when you're done, possibly. 100+ uses of some text is an awesome vandalism opportunity, and it isn't going to change. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 11:06, 9 March 2007 (CST)
To clarify what I was suggesting, if the file is named MapleStory_File_1.png, you would use File_1.png which would convert to . If you use your template in a page, it saves the text as is (so approx 20 chars * 100 = 2k), though the page is rendered and cached until it's changed, and probably comes out the same either way for viewers. To be honest, I don't think this guide will be edited much after you finish with it, so other people won't really need to learn the syntax. I'm somewhat ambivalent about it's usage now, it saves a bit of typing, shortens the text, but makes it slightly more complicated for editors, and adds a small step to a one time parse. I think you're breaking even :P. -- Prod (Talk) 11:20, 9 March 2007 (CST)
Good point also. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 11:06, 9 March 2007 (CST)

Spoiler problem[edit]

In The Tower of Druaga in IE6 the spoiler section is revealed for about 15 seconds then hides, is there any way to make the lag shorter because I saw the code.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:49, 12 March 2007 (CDT)

Actually, I think there is a way to fix that, but it comes with a down side. Right now the AGN uses the method I am referring to. It will first show only the header, and then when the user clicks the show button, the content appears. The problem comes if the user doesn't have JavaScript. For the AGN, without JS, only the header will show and they will have to click on the ToC link to see the rest of the pages. With the spoiler tag, there is almost no way to see the inner content without looking at the code (a bad thing). -- Prod (Talk) 15:03, 12 March 2007 (CDT)

Re: Compilations in home version comparisons[edit]

Hi Garrett. Feel free to completely ignore this, but I was generally under the practice of leaving compilation titles out of the home version comparisons pages. I don't have a particular reason, I just figured it would cut down on the clutter, and the compilation versions strive to be as close to the arcade version that the guide is representing as possible. Like I said, feel free to ignore this, it's just as suggestion. Nice job with the Gauntlet Noteworthies though, that's cool. Might wanna mention Dark Chambers for the Atari 800. (It also had a very inferior Atari 2600 version.)

Yeah, that makes sense. With other pages I covered them anyway since some actually have their own bugs or inaccuracies, but I really don't know anything about flaws in these particular compilations. As for Dark Chambers the way I understand it it's an updated version of Dandy Dungeon, so it's mentioned along with that. Thanks for your help. :) GarrettTalk 21:46, 21 March 2007 (CDT)

Renaming pictures[edit]

Why exactly do my pictures need to be renamed? From what you say, it seems that they are not descriptive enough. I think they are descriptive. What other games have a "Dragon Roost Island"? Is there some image policy I haven't read because at Wikipedia I never got trouble with my image names. You'd think that at a niche wiki like this one, the image names would need to be less descriptive than at a wiki about everything. MD80 13:39, 23 March 2007 (CDT)

Thank you for explaining to me. What I meant by "niche website" (no connotation attatched!) was that it was only a wiki about games and strategy guides. I think you might have thought I meant a site just for Zelda? Thanks again. MD80 14:09, 23 March 2007 (CDT)
Sorry for the mixup. It is a little confusing. Just like to say that I didn't know about that policy, and it's not that I was being lazy and didn't feel like putting the name, I just wasn't aware I needed to. MD80 14:56, 23 March 2007 (CDT)

Tower of Druaga PCE translation[edit]

Good translation, but you missed at least one little thing--at the "Press Run" screen, try tapping Up six times, Left four times, and then Right three times before the "In another time" screen pops up. A secret message will appear. I don't know exactly what it says, but it's a joke in reference to the fact that using the same code in the Famicom version of the game allows you to go to "Another Druaga," a more difficult tower that forces you to do different things to make the chests appear and get through the final levels. The message is basically saying that the game is unable to let you play "Another Druaga" because it doesn't exist in the PCE version. (That's because the "Pro Game" mode is essentially the same idea.) --Pluvius 18:09, 9 April 2007 (CDT)

Bulldoze...From Scratch, AARGHH!:) Thanks for the offer and I accept it, you might also want to ask Halosonic about this as he's a contributor as well, I'd rather you worked from the information we gathered rather than start again totally because that would be a total waste of mine and your time (IMO) but I'm happy for you to try and improve it!I'll try and improve it before you come so you don't have that much work to do. Basicly, I'm happy for you to improve the guide as long as you base it on what we've done, I think that this will be different to the other two guides because a lot of info has been clooected already. You don't have to do the table now but I'm worried about how we'll fit in the cycles and the games in one table.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:46, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

Slash buttons[edit]

First, thanks a lot for the NeoGeo buttons! Now, about the Slash buttons, the problem is that, just like the other games have an Any Punch Arcade-Button-Punch.png and Any Kick Arcade-Button-Kick.png entry, Samurai Shodown and Last Blade use Any Slash entries, so for these I would have to write "Any slash button" or something like that... So I think it would be better to have those Slash buttons.TheOverlord 12:42, 26 April 2007 (CDT)

Great work with the slash button!! Gonna finish these move lists as soon as I can! :) TheOverlord 12:56, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

Re: Using the Japanese tag in infobox?[edit]

Hi Garrett. I just noticed the change you made to the Game Category involving Japanese characters. Can you think of anyway that we could incorporate the Japanese tag in the infobox? I can't at the moment, short of creating a page with the Japanese name that redirects to the original page, and for that kind of effort, it's not worth it. I was just wondering if you could think of something smarter. Procyon (Talk) 19:43, 14 May 2007 (CDT)

One method would be to add categories along the lines of . Check out the sandbox. While this does sort pages according to the Japanese name the link is still displayed in English. Short of some fancy extension, the only way to have the names display correctly is with redirects. I really don't know how useful this current trick will be. GarrettTalk 19:55, 14 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks for the tips and the example, I'm not actually using paint so scaling and the like aren't a problem, I actually uploaded those as placeholders but I'll see what I can do. N64 Buttons[edit]

Hey Procyon! I'd do this myself, but I'm not that good with GIMP yet. Could you make images for the rest of the buttons for N64 (missing ones can be found at N64) (L and R should probably be 72x24, but I don't know how they scale). Thanks! --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:38, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

Oh, and Dpad-Neutral could stand to be a bit more head-on looking. Thanks again! --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:39, 19 May 2007 (CDT)
I've got all of the buttons now, but the Z button's Z could use a bit more indentation. Unfortunately, I suck at layering with Gimp, so can you do it? (I found the "Z" to be completely visible at around 400% zoom, or at least visible enough to work with). If you could take care of it (and/or tell me how to do it), that would be amazing (I found the image here in case this one is unworkable, but you'll have to rotate it upright). Thank you. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:54, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Re: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon[edit]

You told me that there is no such thing as too much information, and I completely agree. What I do not think is correct is the floor descriptions, and here's why: Each time you enter the dungeon, the floors are randomly generated, meaning it would be impossible to write what each floor contains. You could write what to generally expect (enemy-wise, etc.), but you could not give an accurate floor description for each floor. It would not be possible. If you have the game, you'd know what I mean. Sincerely, Myth 22:48, 20 May 2007 (CDT)

Frontpage Changes[edit]

Can you link the discussion topic? I've always seen the best layouts to be Intro, Continue Nav, Story, Table of Contents, Additional Items, References, External Links. Also, having the story and other section as a tier 3 header placed them under table of contents, even though they aren't a part of the table of contents. And there's no reason to keep them as 3's since headers are supposed to denote the heirarchy of sections, not be asthetically pleasing... This stuff is so debatable, really needs to be part of StrategyWiki:Guide/Organization or be in a policy to dismiss all arguments. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:58, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

If you don't want to change things, you don't have to. But once a policy is made, then of course there would be changes made to every page. Anyways, I remember seeing that thread, but after re-reading it, it still doesn't get much accomplished other than allowing descriptors next to TOC links. We still don't have a uniform front page layout order. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:12, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

How to play[edit]

Two things, actually. One, would it be better if the P in play was capitalised? It seems to fit better with our heading rules in the ToC (that is-if we use "how to play"). Secondly, check out the sandbox. The bottom two are for the "how to play" default test. Let me know what you think (I'm waiting for a decision to be reached about the front page layout before I change the real CN, however, and the Footer Nav-styled one will have to be a separate template). --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:25, 29 May 2007 (CDT)

I Don't know everything...[edit]

I guess I was kind of dumb about that. But I tried it five times: I held down the Alt key, then hit the numbers 1,3, and 0 on the numeric key pad, and nothing happened. As for the Alt+0489, it took me to some random Legend of Zelda page I had looked at about an hour ago. So my cut and paste thing works best. Also, I didn't realize the Copy/Paste trick had been metioned (again, kind of dumb on my part), and I posted my commment on the staff lounge page because I thought it would be most helpful there. Sorry again. Myth 12:01, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

Re: Correcting Echelon[edit]

Okay, several things:

  1. I had no clue that Echelon was the owner of this site
  2. I was not trying to "tattle" on Echelon
  3. I was submitting my honest oppinion for the good of Strategy Wiki and was simply stating the rules of the site that were not being followed
  4. I really don't see what being the owner of the site has to do with breaking your own rules. If anything, it would be worse to post somehting on your own site that contradicts your own rules.
  5. I don't see how submitting my honest oppinion about the rules of the site being followed and such is "immature" or "Unprofessional"
  6. If I'm not a sysop, then why were you acting like I should know this stuff?

Myth 22:04, 11 June 2007 (CDT)

One more thing. I mentioned this on the Community Issues page for two reasons:
  1. I felt it was a community issue
  2. I was told in the past to tell someone else about something before I went and corrected them. That's exactly what I did and I got nailed for doing so... Myth 22:18, 11 June 2007 (CDT)
I think you took my comments the wrong way, Procyon. I didn't want you to leave me alone or anything like that. I just honestly thought that I was being helpful. And as far as editting a talk page, I never said I was going to do anything like that. The whole point of this was a question regarding the link to a website on a talk page. And as far as where I got the idea that it was against the rules to link a site to your talk page, it might be for Wikipedia... Anyways, sorry if I sounded rude or confusing to you. Obviously it is fine to link a site to your talk page as long as it isn't major (and I guess if you're the owner it's fine). So thank you for the help and sorry again. I really don't know where this long thing got started in the first place. Myth 00:08, 12 June 2007 (CDT)

Big Brain Academy[edit]

Hi, I've just been updating the Big Brain Academy guide. I think it was me who did most of it under a different name a long while back but I can't remember. Anyway I've made it a bit better adding pictures and more navigation. It is a hard game to write about as there is very little in the game but I've tried to cover every single aspect of the game!

So, as I think you are a moderator/admin (I hope you are!), I was wonderng if you could give it a score. Personally, having owned the game, I can tell you that I've covered everything and would give it a 4 and a "completed"! But you may spot a few things wrong! Thanks. Poiuytre 12:55, 14 June 2007 (CDT)

Lol, actually I didn't know that anyone could "review" any guide by giving it a 4 (or 1, 2, 3)! Anyway I think that it's 3 Yes's to the questions. Like I said it is a very simple game and I do think my parents could pick up and play it after reading the guide! So I'm going to give it a four. Thanks again. Poiuytre 10:19, 15 June 2007 (CDT)

King2 here.[edit]

Yo 'sup Procyon. Thanks for taking the time to check my progress on the Tekken 3 Movelist. I want you to know that its not that I find the format daunting but its more like I dont get enough net time to perform major editing. Hence the help requests. I am from Trinidad, an island in the Caribbean, and my only access to free net is through my phone line using my neighbour's laptop.(I no longer have a cpu of my own as it was damaged. I intend to build one but I'm waiting for the finances). Its very hard to work on the net while there's the bugging in your mind of an emergency call. So basically I only get about half an hour for the max, about twice a week, with an average speed of 40 kbps. Anyways I know I will get the hang of the formatting when I analyze your examples and get enough exposure. (Don't mind the good english for internet talk as its my style. I hate most shorthand) Talk to you later, got to go. I only got 15 mins. By the way, the formatting style is great and we dont need to do anything anytime soon. Thanks. Re: Pokemon mini games[edit]

Hi Garrett. I noticed that you added the list of Pokemon mini games to the Category. I wasn't sure if we were going to cover them or not. I have all of them (well, most of them as cartridges, even the Japanese ones, and the rest of them as ROMs). Do you have any of them? Maybe we could work together on some of the guides. Let me know :) Procyon (Talk) 09:20, 21 June 2007 (CDT)

Since it's media-based that makes it a system, so I think it should definitely be covered here despite being so obscure. As for the games my experience with them is very limited, so I don't know that I could write all that much about them. I've started a rough guide for Pokémon Breeder, but since I don't understand Japanese (at all) it's based entirely on trial and error. I've played several of the games but, ironically, it's the ones that are only in Japanese that interest me the most. :P GarrettTalk 18:41, 21 June 2007 (CDT)

Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl sparse????[edit]

Honestly Procyon, what you said was kind of rude, and I don't really see what my age or maturity has to do with asking someone to move the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Guide out of the Sparse section! I really don't get what you mean. Am I immature just because I don't know how everything works on SW? I've only been here like one month, and I've progressed considerably since I started. Please explain what you mean. Myth 12:40, 23 June 2007 (CDT)

I read your message, and I want to say, first of all, sorry if I came off as having a tantrum or something like that. I was just expressing my opinion about the fact that it does not belong in the sparse section. Also, you said that this was not about my knowledge of SW, but but then said that I placed my comment on the wrong page. Doesn't that have something to do with my knowledge? And as far as saying you were trying to rattle me with your comment, that isn't very mature in itself. The goal if you see someone doing something wrong is to politely tell them that they are doing something you think is wrong. Telling them they are "immature" and that "You'd be insulted if I guessed your age" is just plain rude. I would have loved it if you had politely told me that I should have posted my comment elsewhere, and that I came off as wanting everything done my way. But unfortunately this had to happen, and I frankly don't see what's changed. Lastly, saying "several other users I have talked to agree with me" sounds basically like you're saying you're talking bad about me behind my back, and that a show of force is going to change my attitude. Myth 14:23, 23 June 2007 (CDT)

Spell Checking[edit]

I saw your RB message on the Community Issues page and I thought I'd recommend upgrading to Firefox 2. It has a built in Spell check function which I find extremely useful when making message board posts and working on here. It's still pretty new so sometimes it doesn't recognize things as real words, but overall it's incredibly useful. I'd also like to say nice work on it as I was using that guide the other day.--IsaacGS 23:54, 24 June 2007 (CDT)

R/B Trivia[edit]

Hey Proc, I've heard that you can walk up the mountain next to item B on this map by walking up from the bottom of the mountain? I think I tried ages ago and it worked, is this notable?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 01:41, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

P.S Can you please change the symbol for fishing on routes in IE (in the encounter rate boxes). All I get is squares, ✓ is the symbol (or one I can't tell) and I can't find out what it is.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 01:46, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

Thank You[edit]

Thanks Proc, for all the times you badgered me to become a better person. I'm gracious of your support for my request for adminship; you're like one of the SW gurus, I don't even know how to say thank you beyond thank you thank you thank you! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:52, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Walkthrough[edit]

I put that note there for the main reason that there really was no content that could go there, as far as I can see. But that's just my opinion. And you're right, I should have just blanked the page and put a note saying that a walkthrough was coming soon or I could have put a "stub" template there as well. I'm sorry if I came off as being whiny or reluctant to do something myself, which was not my intention at all but it obviously came out that way to several people. Once again, I'm sorry for how I handled the situation and thank you very much for letting me know. Myth 23:38, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

Also Procyon, I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond to your comments and look over the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon/Walkthrough discussion page. I haven't been on my computer for a couple days, so I obviously couldn't explain my intent quickly enough. Myth 23:44, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
I understand that there are definitely not-so-fun parts of guides, but also a lot of fun ones. Obviously, getting other people to understand your point of view is not-so-fun. But actually doing it is definitely fun. Thanks for understanding me, Procyon and I hope to complete as much of the guide as I can! ^_^ Myth (talk) 11:46, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Limiting Personal Edits[edit]

I totally understand what you mean, and I'll be happy to comply. BTW, did you mean 10 edits to my user page per day, or in general? Thanks. Myth (talk) 14:54, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

I'm getting better with the Edit Summary, but I still forget sometimes... But I definitely don't do 10 edits to 10 different sections ^_^ Myth (talk) 15:13, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Pac-Man Fever[edit]

I'd recommend creating a template that goes on all the pac man fever pages rather than making a cat. The album goes slightly outside of our scope. I'd also recommend an archive ;). -- Prod (Talk) 21:41, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Check the bottom of Category:Pac-Man Fever (album). It will need to be slightly customized due to the link in the header, though I'd prefer we made something from scratch rather than modifying the current template. -- Prod (Talk) 22:35, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Pyro maniac[edit]

Hey Procyon. I think you were a bit harsh on Pyro maniac here — he's probably quite young, and is certainly contributing in good faith. Maybe you could've been more encouraging? Anyway, good job on blocking that vandal (second one in two days, meh :-( ), and get on IRC more! --DrBob (Talk) 08:41, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

I'm just guessing his age from his writing style and enthusiasm. I know you were acting in good faith (as always), I just thought it would be better to be a little kinder. I'm not asking you to come on from work, but couldn't you come on IRC from home (or am I just not on IRC when you're at home? :-P ). --DrBob (Talk) 11:38, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

File:LoZLttP Hyrule Castle.png[edit]

How did you make that map? It's sweet! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 13:11, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

Ah. Well I really like it. For one, the base image is unpixelated so it looks like it's high quality ya know. For some reason the colors strike me. Then the border makes it look really good and yeah, the fairy circle you put on there is an awesome way to label things with symbols. Shouldn't the sewer access hole be noted (or is that on another map for another section of the guide?)? When you get around to it, you should do a map like this for the various Chris Houlihan paths people can take (I'm thinking one map, two different colored tracks like Tron to denote where to go). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 13:34, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

I only use 800x600 at work. Not everyone has as good of eyes as you. I agree, I think 1024x768 at least sets the pages to an organizable state, but for people like my boss, they use smaller resolutions. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 14:46, 9 July 2007 (CDT)
I've got the game for GBA and it's a rupee if you got the lamp from your house. Otherwise it's the lamp--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:49, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

Are there any other comments about that page, besides the lamp/rupee chest? Just want to get a feel for how you guys think it's coming along. I'm working on the Castle and Sewer maps now. That page is going to be long by the time it's done. Procyon (Talk) 14:52, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

Yeah, can you note that the passage is one of the only ways to get into Chris Houlihan's room if you go down the hole fast enough. See this video--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:00, 9 July 2007 (CDT)
Rocky, we all know about the CH room, there's already a page for it. Yeah it's lookin great so far Proc. All the images you, Skizz baby and Garrett have been contributing are helping a lot. Um, if you could remake the sewer image showing the lamp above the chest and use the little circle thing you did for the fairie in the hyrule castle map pic, I think it would look a lot better since it would denote the lamp being an identifier and not an actual part of the map... --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:09, 9 July 2007 (CDT)
I've uploaded a larger version of the map here for you to modify/use if you want to. It will obviously need to be scaled down on the page itself, but it'll allow you to put the yellow circle in an unobtrusive location and such. The map is missing the Uncle, but that shouldn't really be a problem. Do whatever you want with it ^_^ --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 16:01, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

Third person for ALttP[edit]

I know you're basing this on the Nintendo Player's Guide (which I still think is debatable) but I should point out that its writing style is completely inappropriate. How-to material is expected to be written in the present tense and use the second person in order to relate directly to the reader's current needs; using the preterite tense and third person words for how-to material keeps readers clearly distanced from the author(s), and is arguably presumptuous. The Player's Guide is also riddled with minor errors (Hyrulian instead of Hyrulean, Link's Cottage instead of Link's House, etc.) which would have to be picked out. I'd rather you rewrite this in the manner of the Pokémon RBY guide, which is worded really well and perfectly fits the expectations of how-to material. If that's your intention that's great, I just wanted you to know what I think before you go very far down the current path. GarrettTalk 18:01, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

watermark?[edit]

Do you think we should put a watermark on our images? I found that using File:Sw 1337.png at 35% opacity seems to work the best. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 10:16, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

We are trying to make freely licenced guides so I think this may go against our message, anyway, one of the server overlords might be able to put into all of the images at once with a tweak to the software or something.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:21, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

imagemapping each room[edit]

yeah, that would be doable, it would just be a bit of a pain. If you want to see what the wikicode looks like for that, check out this page. Well, sort of similar. What I would do is make the room labels jump to that particular room and have the rest go to the larger map, so I would be using rect instead of poly. Unless, of course, you have a different idea of how it should all be linked. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 10:25, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Half of my reply on this page, and half on my talk page... I need to get a bit more with it today. Anyways, you need to make the room numbers H4s or H5s instead of bolded text. The imagemapping won't jump to them otherwise. To prevent all that stuff from making the ToC too large, just do the following: <div class="toclimit-3">__TOC__</div>. That'll prevent anything less than an H3 from appearing on the ToC. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 10:35, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
nvm, I guess you don't have a ToC :P. Regardless, now you know how to restrict them. Oh, and a big help would be if you could figure out the co-ordinates of the top-left and bottom-right points of those labels, as I need to know that in order to imagemap them. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 10:38, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
They need to be headings because I was thinking of linking the labels to that section , so its kind of like an image ToC instead of a text ToC. You click on 1F and it takes you to the strategy for room 1F. However, I would like to know how large the boxes are generally (width and height in pixels) of the original image (the one on the image page), I can find out the coordinates by myself, but if I know how large they are, it saves me a lot of work. Here's how I was planning on doing the code:
           <imagemap>
File:the shown image.png|thumb|some sizepx|right|Floor whatever (click image to enlarge, click label to go to that room's strategy)
           rect a1 b1 a2 b2 Room number
           rect c1 d1 c2 d2 Room number
           ...
           default
           desc none
           </imagemap>

I couldn't find what the object that controls the edit tabs was called (I'm guessing it's in a php file, not a css file), so I created a workaround--Anchor. I've implemented it in the Eastern Palace page, so what do you think of it? --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 18:27, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

I've located the class that controls the edit section tabs (it's called "editsection", ain't that creative :P), and have made a bit of css that will hide them when enclosed in a span (css viewable here). Don't know what we could use it for anymore, but it's there just in case. If you put it into your css, check out the sandbox to see it in action. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 16:29, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

Well, I hope I didn't embarrass you too much with my corrections; of course that was not my intention. I think it is actually possible to make round-by-round strategy for EE like, shoot this to get this, watch out for these guys coming from the sides, etc. (Did you break 1 million yet? I am stuck at around 900,000.) I would like to know, what are your sources for the names? Did you go from the Famicom manual? The names used in Capcom Classics Collection are somewhat different. As for your other question, I would have to say I am fairly knowledgeable about Ghosts 'n' Goblins, having just finished both loops on one life. (I did take some hits though.) Zelda3Enemy[edit]

Don't know if this was intentional or not, but the level 3 sword and the magic hammer use the same parameter (5). Also, it might make sense to arrange the parameters as they appear vertically on the table (so image=1, hp=2, sword=3, etc.) and/or give the option for named parameters, like {{{hp|{}}}}. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 09:06, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

Main Page DPLs[edit]

I put the refresh link there because I enabled the parser cache for the DPLs on the Main Page (aka, it takes results from the cache wherever it can so it reduces server load). The refresh link purged the page for people that wanted more accurate results, as the data is now mostly cached. I've also implemented the caching option on system, so the majority of our DPLs now use the cache (which should reduce server load immensely). Granted, the refresh link could be smaller and less easily noticeable, but it probably should be there. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 22:15, 17 August 2007 (CDT)

Thanks for the pointers[edit]

  • I was going to screen-cap and stitch together all those maps! Thanks for pointing them out.
  • I did find separated categories for some of the Final Fantasy maps, which is why I started doing the GSC maps (and eventually intended to go back and edit all the maps into subcategories for neatness's sake).
    -- DrGaellon 15:17, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
PS, that site with the maps is great, but it seems to be lacking the "dungeon" maps (i.e. the Dark Cave and the Union Cave). Shall I try to screencap and create those maps myself?

  • Where do you get your percentages for the encounter tables? I'm looking at the data in GoldMap, and by my math, if I'm analyzing what I'm seeing correctly, your data's way off. For instance, Route 30 Day in Silver, GoldMap shows one Ledyba, 2 Weedles, 1 Kakuna and 3 Pidgeys, so I make the percentages 14%, 29%, 14% and 43% - you have 25/50/10/15... so where DID you get your numbers? -- DrGaellon (talk | contribs) 19:40, 20 August 2007 (CDT)

Screencapping Pokémon[edit]

I'm playing my way through Crystal right now; I certainly wouldn't mind doing screencaps as I go. What sorts of things should I be capping?

BTW, do you know of a GB emulator for Windows which includes Link Cable emulation? The one I'm using (VisualBoyAdvanced) doesn't, so some of the Pokémon are simply unavailable to me. -- DrGaellon (talk | contribs) 16:43, 21 August 2007 (CDT)

I will be happy to go back and screencap RBY after finishing GSC. Capping GSC has to lag behind you writing the pages, but since I'm playing it as we go...
Actually, I'm going to start capping from the point where I am currently saved; I'll go back and screencap the beginning after we get to the end. (I like my team too much to start over at this point! <g>) KiGB doesn't use the same save format as VBA, so if I'm going to switch software, I have to start over. -- DrGaellon (talk | contribs) 19:49, 21 August 2007 (CDT)
I didn't HAVE to start over; I could have kept going with VBA! :) I've downloaded or saved all the maps, so as I'm working my way through, I'll upload them as I get to each page. I cropped any excess framing, and shrunk most of them down so the larger dimension is 640px (except the Route maps, which are awfully big to shrink that much).
KiGB is saving screen caps as PCX files; is that OK for SW, or should I convert them to PNG or JPG? -- DrGaellon (talk | contribs) 20:29, 21 August 2007 (CDT)
Converting to PNG is easy enough; I have Adobe PhotoShop on my desktop box. Unfortunately, the caps are 160x144 - that's awfully small, but there's nothing to be done about it, I think. VBA caps as PNG, but they're the same size.
Re: maps. Do you want me to recapture the maps at full size, or can I go ahead and use the ones I shrank? It's not a big deal to recapture them, if you'd prefer. Also, I think there are subtle differences between the maps of Kanto in GSC and the original maps in RBY; should I recapture all the Kanto maps on the Gold ROM, or just use the ones that were already uploaded for RBY?
Having someone else to work with on a project like this makes it much more fun, and much easier. I don't IRC anymore, but I can be found on AIM and Yahoo Messenger with the same UserID I used here. I'm also on MSN, but since that's an email addy, I prefer not to share it. --DrGaellon (talk | contribs) 21:02, 21 August 2007 (CDT)
I was able to expand the screen caps in APS to 320x288 with no blur, so that's good. The Kanto maps are all B&W, and there are some differences, so I recapped all the Kanto maps in color off the Gold ROM. Is there a resource where I can find small images of the various sprites (people, berry trees, Poké balls, etc) to drop onto the maps as part of the walkthrough? Edits to LttP[edit]

Hey Proc, I think that we should allow anybody to edit LttP regardless of the fact that it is a featured guide. If a change is made that you don't necessarily agree with, then change it back and mention why on the talk page (or the users talk page), but I don't think we should discourage new users from editing pages. After all, that's what a wiki is all about. Not trying to be confrontational here, but I don't want to lose new users because of something like this.--DukeRuckley 10:54, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

Block[edit]

I do take it harshly, there is nothing wrong with a regular user welcoming someone. And I know plenty about wiki editing and markup, and you get all block happy for a simple contribution when just a simple message left on my talk page would have sufficed. I would have gladly obliged and refrained from future occurences. You shall see no more work from me for this trigger happy behavior. Thanks for your understanding. --Chari2 18:27, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

I do agree, that block really wasn't warranted. If new users want to welcome other new users, that's perfectly fine, and it means that they were smart enough to find the welcome template and use it correctly, which in turn means they are familiar with wiki markup (a huge plus). We try to get as many new users to become frequent editors as possible, and blocking them for welcoming other new users is a bit... discouraging for them (It's kinda like shooting someone because they said 'hi' to the person that just walked into a building). I hope you understand... if not, well, you know where to reach me ^_^. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 21:07, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

Ooooooooooooooooo Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, people. It was a 2-hour block just to say, "hey, slow down a bit, we don't know you. If you want to help, that's fine, just wait til you've been here for a while and see how things work." It wasn't a block for a day, or a week, or a month, it was 2-hours, and it didn't even last that long. You're all way over-reacting to this. Procyon (Talk) 13:29, 29 August 2007 (CDT)

I don't think blocking is the right way to go about that, Proc. I'm not aware of the full circumstances here, but looking at the logs, I think a polite message on Chari2's talk page would have been much better. --DrBob Needcat icon.png0005.svg 13:41, 29 August 2007 (CDT)

No, I understand what he did, and he actually did a nice job. AOF is kind of weird because it has these partial energy meter moves. It was sort of a failed experiment that wasn't continued in any other SNK game, so it should be fairly unique to AOF. Procyon (Talk) 11:11, 9 September 2007 (CDT)

Future games[edit]

Just wanted to let you know that I'm working on it ... (I put the AOF3 stuff on hold, it was a rather big pain in the back anyway :( ). A allready finished Fatal Fury: King of Fighters and I just startet World Heroes. So you can expect some progress during one of the next days...--Bmuig 17:15, 15 September 2007 (CDT)(Talk)

Well, first of all: thank you very much for doing the character pages, things are really starting to look good :) .. But there are some things that came up:
  1. I noticed that all my pages are still at completion Stage 0, shouldn't they be at stage 1 if they have the basic move List? I read about the stages at the comunity page but I still couldn't figure out the exact way to change them
  2. This is just a thought: all the moves on the character pages are copy & paste right now, right? Won't that get us into trouble in the future when somebody changes some mistake at the normal page of the game and then we have two different versions of the moves? Isn't there some way to link from the page of the game to the Character page, so that have only on Version and all changes done to that version change all the linked Versons, too? (As I said it's only a thought ... I really don't know if the Wiki-Framework is capable of such things ... but since it works in Templates there should be some way...)
  3. This is more on a private level :) : I saw on your page that you were (and hopefully still are) working in the games industry. As I told you before, I working on my thesis right now. The thesis is about implementing a test environment for AI-Agents of turn-based strategy games (which I have done allready and which is working very fine) and the implementation of two different AI-Agents for that environment (priority based, which I'm working on right now and which is a big pain and Finite-State-Machine based, which I haven't even started yet). So thing is, that I'd like to do a chapter about the "state of the industry", how that whole AI stuff is handeled in development totay and which Systems are used mostly ... So I'm looking for somebody from a games company to answer some (very basic, nothing really specific) Questions about how they handle AI...Maybe you happen to know something about AI Development or know somebody that I could write an Email to? (Oh, in don't feel bad if not .. I used to work at a Games-Company here in Germany, so I allready got some answers, just figured: the more the better) ... As I said before, this is completely not StrategyWiki related, but I just had to ask :)

about the optional request[edit]

Hi Procyon

First of all thank you very much again, that AOF3 list was a real pain and I'm glad that it is finished ... I'm pretty sure that it still misses tons of stuff but at least the obvious and important stuff should be in it...

about the +: I've been thinking about this for quite a while and the problem is that I'm usually use the plus to show that something should happen simultaniuesly, for example qcf A + C means that you have to do a quartercircle and then press A and C and the same time. So if I start using the + between the move and the buttens it would become something like this then: qcf + A + C, and I think that is a lot more unclear. It also gets to the point that there will be a + in almost every line since you usually have to do a motion and the press a button, so that the whole plus-thing becomes rather redundant and doesn't really hold any information value at all. So if you think that it's important to have the + between the motion and the button then say so and I'll change my style accordingly (it's really no big problem), but I honestly think that it's better understandable the way I do it now.

another thing: So far, I haven't used cade at all (I just recently found out about it by looking at the old KOF94 movepage). I'm rather sure that it doesn't make a difference at all (since it's very likely just a redirecter anyway), but would you say that it's better to use cade than to put the images directly into the code? And if I should use it, is the whole cade template protected or can I change stuff in it? I saw that it doesn't support the NeoGeo Buttons yet, so I'd have to add those first... --Bmuig 19:14, 27 September 2007 (CDT)(Talk)

Hi, it's me again... :) I've been thinking about the KOF94 List all day long and I decided to format it the same way that I did the other Movelists so far, meaning that I'll discribe the meaning of the buttons at the top of the page (like File:Arcade-Button-A.png means Arcade-Button-Kick.png for example) and work with the NeoGeo Buttons from there on...
The thoughts behind this are:
  1. In the Street Fighter Movelists, the buttons are not used as the Movement of the figure on screen but as the Buttons the player has to press, so with the NeoGeo stuff we schould absolutely go the same way and list the buttons and not the actions
  2. In King of Fighters, each button could be represented with an Punch or Kick sysmbol, but what about (for example) Art of Fighting, where there are only two Kick/Punch buttons? You would have to use Kick, Punch,C and D there, which is not a good idea in my opinion....
  3. Since there (hopefully) will be quite a lot of NeoGeo games at some point we should try to have all the movelists with a similar flavour, the only way to achieve this is to use the NeoGeo buttons everywhere
  4. In the current KOF94 list, there is (incorrectly) Arcade-Button-Punch.png and Arcade-Button-Kick.png used for everything , so I thought about using those when it doesn't matter which Punch-Button you press and then use File:Arcade-Button-C.png etc. when it is important that you press the strong punch Button. But I think that this way would be really confusing, you would have both types of buttons in the list. So I think its a lot clearer to say File:Arcade-Button-A.png or File:Arcade-Button-C.png when you can press any punch button
so, if you got an oppinion on this please let me know, if not I'll jut go ahead :)
oh, and sorry for bothering you, but I figured it's better to clear things up now than to redo the whole thing again and again ... --Bmuig 14:54, 28 September 2007 (CDT)(Talk)

Just took a (rather short) look at the new Street Fighter page, and it looks very nice, but

  • I can't really explain it, but it somehow feels strange to have the movelist on the start page, of a game .. I know that it makes sence and all, but it still feels strange somehow ... maybe I just have to get used to it
  • it's also rather strange that you keep all the movement info on the individual character pages and link to it over through the page of the game. was that a technical decision? Because if it wasn't I'd really change it around, since you usually (or at least I do) work on a game and then port it to the different characters. And this way you also get into the danger that people will edit the moves of one single character to all have the same style, so that the pages of the games become really messed up ... I know my grammer is strange but I hope you understand what I mean :)

About the people that play KOF94 on a playstation: that is why I allway put the All Fighters stuff on top of my pages, because there it says NeoGeo-A == weak Punch etc. ... One last thing: I found out that there is no charge down button (or at least I dind't find it) .. so since you made all the other buttons ... if you find some time, could you make one please? --Bmuig 16:49, 28 September 2007 (CDT)(Talk)

I just thought since there is File:Arcade-Button-Stick.png and File:Arcade-Button-Stick.png and even File:Arcade-Button-Stick.png there should also be a hold down button (it looks pretty strange to put hold into the movement part) ... I think I'll just use my amazing Paint Shop skillz an rework Arcade-Stick-Down.png ;) ....--Bmuig 17:41, 28 September 2007 (CDT)(Talk)

Street Fighter 2 - Ryu[edit]

omg ... this is really nice ... very very good work there guys. I esspecially like the big sprite on top of the page, that looks really cool :)
just two thoughts: will there still be a Ryu page at capcom/ryu? where you've got links to SF2-Ryu, Alpha-Ryu etc..? And I think that it will be a loooong time before other (not SF2) character pages will have even half the amount of information, but that's OK (you've got to have goals in life :) )
so, once again: very nice job you did there...

I allways check out the latest Street Fighter Pages, so I've allready seen most of those pages, but they're still very very nice. I really don't know yet if I should put too much work into the character pages yet, since there are still so many games not covered ... I really haven't decided yet, but if I do they'll probably be very similar to your SF pages ...
one more thing: have you thought about putting pictures of the different costumes on the character pages, too? I know that it really doesn't hold a lot of game-information, but I still think it's a rather neat feature (and I've allways been a huge fan of palette-swapping :D )--Bmuig 13:00, 9 October 2007 (CDT)(talk)

Moves List Throw Identifier[edit]

How should we denote what move is a grab or not? Blend could make us a little Icon for Throw. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:38, 6 October 2007 (CDT)

Yeah which is why we need the identifier. I don't really think italicizing will be very effective, and also there are abilities that have different effects at different ranges. If we could have a Close and a (Close) we would be able to denote required versus optional ranges. A small prefix image like that (like MAX) won't hurt. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:11, 6 October 2007 (CDT)
First of all, I can't read Japanese so I don't know what details are in there or not. BUT, I don't care how they do things. It's not the best way, even if it is a big company. If it's just basic throws, governed by the controls page I think it's fine that we don't include them. But if they are an actual move, a named move like on Athena's page, I think we should have a marker for them (especially for supers). It's not too much information, you're leaving out something big! If we left out Max's it would be the same way. We don't need to have the Max icon because people can figure it out themselves; but these guides are to help reinforce those confusable nuances so people don't have to! Also the little markers help people pick out certain moves from others (in many guides and manuals its hard to distinguish a move from another just by its name and button combination). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:35, 6 October 2007 (CDT)
It comes down to how it helps or not. If we have it, we use up some space for the image, and we have to edit all the movelists to contain it. We then provide our visitors with information that isn't presented anywhere else in that fashion - this information is generally for skimmers. Maybe this should be put to vote? I mean. This stuff doesn't matter to me really because I don't have any fighting games that I don't know how to use (I just re-learned Zangief, Raiden, and E.Honda's moves in hopes of gaining some inspiration for this discussion). I dunno. If we forget it about it its not a problem of course... Maybe I'll bring it up next year. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:05, 7 October 2007 (CDT)

Ledian and Plusle are both excellent Baton Passers! Why did u remove them?!

If its because they're under used, that is a stupid reason. Ledian and Plusle are excellent pokemon. I use a Plusle in competitive battling and it has never let me down yet. ANd the same can be said for Ledian. Besides, no one ever uses Ledian OR Plusle, so it's nice to see them used sometimes.

character pages and stuff[edit]

Hi Procyon

I've been pretty busy during the last days and will probably be pretty busy for the next weeks, so I don't expect to get a lot of stuff done her on strategywiki, but I'll try :)

  • FF2 and FFS

I saw how you managed the SFA2/SFA2 Gold moves and I really don't know what's the best solution. I mean from a work point of view, it's just copy & paste (for the most part) and from a memory point of view I really don't know if those few movelists make that big of a difference. But if you look at those lists from the point of view of somebody who comes to strategywiki: if I check out the movelists for FF2, then I want to see the moves vor FF2 and not for FF2 and FFS and then figure out myself which to use. But then on the other hand you are right, too: most people should be smart enough to figure out which moves to use at which game ... so I really haven't decided how to do it, but I currently tend to do seperate lists (so that I can show the different portraits of FF2 and FFS) ... but thanks for your advice anyway...:)

  • Capcom Movelists

Very very nice, I'll definetly organize the SNK stuff the same way (as soon as I have characters with enough appearances)

  • King of Fighters/Fatal Fury

OK, this is going to be longer: I've been thinking a lot about a clever way to organize the KOF Character Pages, and so I thought that FF would be a good place to try out how this could work. So here's what I thought of: FF is basicly devided into 3 seperate parts: FF, Real Bout and Garou. So there are character Pages for each of those Parts, like Fatal Fury\Characters\Terry, Real Bout\Characters\Terry and Garou\Characters\Terry. There are also going to be different ToCs for each part, but they will look absolutely identical. So that means that the ToC from FF1 also contains links to all Characters from Garou, since that is all the same series (And I think it's rather important that you can acces ALL the characters from the ToC). But since there are three different ToCs, that means if you are at the FF1 page and click on the Link for Terry, you go to Fatal Fury\Characters\Terry, and if you are at a page from Real Bout and you click on Terry, you'll go to Real Bout\Characters\Terry. If you click on some Character that does not appear in the current Part then you'll go to where he first appeared. There also should be pages for all the characters at Fatal Fury\Character\Charactername (since this is where you'll direct from outside) but they'll redirect to the first appearance for characters that first appear in RB or Garou. I know that the whole setup is rather complicated, but I think the system will work really smooth for the user ... so tell me what you think, since I really don't have a lot of free time it'll still be some time before I can start implementing any ideas... Pictures[edit]

Yeah they're tiny, but it's game boy sprites, so I guess it's just part of the nature. I'm playing the game on a GameBoy Player through my GameCube though... I was thinking about doing a Gallery type thing and then sorting the monsters by species, maybe with a little stat box (Though the only stat most of them have is HP) but I haven't got a template or anything ready yet. I just wanted to get them all uploaded so I would have something to play with. --IsaacGS 17:50, 2 November 2007 (CDT)

KOF ToC[edit]

Hi Procyon

I've updated the ToC for KOF with all the Characters from the Series, so that it can be used for all the KOF games ... hope that helpes by whatever it is you're trying to create :). And if it doesn't: feel free to change anything you like --Bmuig 08:11, 22 November 2007 (CST)(talk)

Hi again
I looked at they way you set up the KoF stuff (btw: nice work, as usual :) ) and I do have a couple of suggestions/complaints/whatever:
  • The one thing that bothers me most about the way things are set up now is that there's no way to reach KOF 2000 whene you are at the KOF '96 Page right now. I mean: the whole Orochi/Nests/Ash thing is just about the backstory, those games represent one long game series after all. That's why I think the ToC should at least consist of all the games that are available in that gameseries, so that you know that KOF has a lot more games than 94 - 98.
  • This brings me to the next problem: I understand that you don't want to have all the characters on one single ToC, because that ToC would become to big (although I still think it would be nice). But the way thinks are set up now, somebody (whose again on some KOF 96 page for example) will look for Ash and not find him, and I think thats really confusing. So maybe it could at least say "Characters from the KoF Orochi-Saga" or "Characters from KoF 94 - 98" instead of just "Characters" in the ToC, so that people don't get confused....
  • I thought that it was "agreed on" that all the characters pages for a specific game will be listed under SeriesName/Characters/Charactername. If somebody from another page want's to link to Mai (for example) it will allways be through The King of Fighters/Characters/Mai. That's why I would suggest that we just keep those pages at The King of Fighters/Characters/names and have them just as a redirector to the first appearance of that character (which schould be Orochi in most cases). That way I think we can again avoid a lot of confusion and stay (at least a little) closer to the way the other pages are setup...
--Bmuig 04:04, 23 November 2007 (CST)(User Talk: Bmuig)

I think you misunderstood me: I completely support your decision to split up the character pages, so that the individual pages are smaller and load quicker. That should definietly be done, all I meant was that we should keep The King of Fighters/Characters/Terry as a redirecter that leads to the Terry page at the Orochi collection, so that it is easyer and less confusing to link a character from somewhere else at Strategywiki. The navigation Template is a very good idea and we should definietly have one, but since it's about all the KoF Games it will also include the MI and EX games. I still think that the ToC should at least contain links to the main games (94 - XII), so that I can navigate there without problems. Once again: I do not mean that all the Characters should be in the ToC, just a simple link to the main games and that's all.

btw: the category is category: The King of Fighters. Bmuig 11:25, 23 November 2007 (CST)(talk)

Just wanted to say that you did an amazing job with Kyo and the whole NGBC list. Looks very nice :) --Bmuig 06:56, 29 November 2007 (CST)(talk)

Move lists[edit]

Hi Proc. Would you mind updating lists sometime with information about the new layout. It doesn't need to be long, as the bulk of the documentation needs to go in StrategyWiki:Move lists project. Thanks. --DrBob (talk) 01:19, 23 November 2007 (CST)

Wikipedia[edit]

I'd just like to point out wikipedia:Template:StrategyWiki. You can use it when referring back to us on Wikipedia. Simply type something like Street Fighter II, and it'll format a link back to StrategyWiki! Of course, if you really don't like how that template does it, I'd strongly recommend that you use the interwiki link format instead of the external link format, as then we don't get rel="nofollow" attached to our links from Wikipedia (the template also uses the interwiki link) ;) --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 18:46, 23 November 2007 (CST)

CVS2 EO controls[edit]

I see your point: list controls that are static, however the defaults are usually the preferred method of play for any game and we should provide them for all consoles, etc. so people can get a better understanding of what they are (many interfaces give no explanations and only the individual button usages, since we can also list combos explanations). This actually applies to our standard of controls rather than just this game, like why list any FPS controls (i.e. Half-Life) if they can be changed? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:20, 27 November 2007 (CST)

Image for deletion/use in fighting move lists[edit]

I'm designating you to sort this one out (shouldn't be too hard, seeing as deletion is most probable): File:Playstation-Button-Tcs.png. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:45, 29 November 2007 (CST)

Character Info[edit]

Nooooooooooo...... (just had to do that)
I figured the fallowing thing: If all the SNK games are done (some day) then we'll have the fallowing Terry character pages: Fatal Fury, Real Bout, Garou: Mark of the Wolfes, Fatal Fury WA, SNK vs. Capcom, Capcom vs. SNK, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, KOF Orichi, KOF NESTS, KOF Ash, KOF Neowave and KOF MI (hope I didn't forget one). All these pages will have a line on top that states the appearances of that character and the games he was in. If something changes somewhere (lets say SNK makes a new game with Terry), then 12 pages need to be changed. If we just keep this information at one spot, we'll save disc space on the server, we can make sure that the information is the same on every character page, we can make sure the name is written correctly everywhere and it is very easy to change stuff or add new information. So I understand if you say that I put the stuff at the wrong position (I really wasn't aware that all paths need to start at least with a company and I could move all the pages ), but I really don't understand why it has to be deleted. As far as I see it, I can't think of any negative implication associated with it. So I really hope you change your mind .... --Bmuig 11:28, 6 December 2007 (CST)(talk)

:) you have just proven my point ... SF2 Ryu does not have any links to the capcom movelist, just to SFA and SFIII and it doesn't say anything about CvS or SvC. And that's exactly the problem I am trying to avoid by having all sites use the same basic information. Just so that I know: why exactly is it important to transclude as little as possible? Does it use up too much processing power? Please explain...
So to sum things up, I still think having the Basic information directly on top of each page is much beter than just a link to another page. But you are right that I could just copy & paste that stuff from site to site and keep all the sites up to date manually. So I'll just try to do that ... ohh, and I'm not that sad, don't worry :) --Bmuig 13:54, 6 December 2007 (CST)(talk)

Hi Procyon. Well, it was definietly the next thing on my list of stuff to do after I am done with the first 4 Fatal Fury games, but if you want to help out then go right ahead :). A few thinks I had planed: I will split up the FF Character pages into 3 parts: Fatal Fury, Real Bout and Garou. (I really dont know ho to handle character pages for Wild ambition and First Contact yet, but I'll think of something). And I think it would be best to handle the later KOF parts as KOF Tales of Ash collection. I know that there is no such collection yet, but there will be eventually and that way we can stay in style with the other 2 parts. If you want to do stuff differently, please let me know... oh, and thanks for your help :) --Bmuig 09:51, 7 December 2007 (CST)(talk)

Eh, one Question...[edit]

hey Procyon, uh, im just thinking of something that could help with the setup of some of these pages. correct me if im mistaken. Do you think there should be implemented for those who are not working on any guides at the moment but are still active, could submit a list of whatever games they own or play often, and to help with the guides for the games they own. they have people who own quite a few games that have guides that are underdeveloped or not developed, that if they help, can build them up. as i said, correct me if i hadn't seen something like that implimented.

Peace out, God Bless. Halosonic 14:03, 13 December 2007 (CST)

Need ur help again, Procyon...[edit]

Season's greetings to you, Procyon, hope you're enjoying Christmas. ok... earlier in the year, when you did the Pokemon Red and Blue guides, most of the map screenshots had markers on them with letters on them. did you modify the images, or did you downlad them like that? if you edited them yourself, can you tell me what you used for it? i have some images for Firered and Leafgreen i want to edit so it looks similar to the red and blue guides.

Peace Out, God Bless. Halosonic 21:20, 25 December 2007 (CST)

Ok... i Downloaded the GIMP, but i cant figure out how to get the circle with the letter to come out. how do you do it?

Peace out, God Bless, Happy new year. Halosonic 19:02, 31 December 2007 (CST)

Next staff meeting[edit]

Do you know when the next scheduled IRC Staff Meeting is? I'm guessing January 1st, but considering that it's a holiday, I didn't know if it was rescheduled for a later date. If you could clear that up for me (and perhaps get an agenda going), that'd be great ^_^ --Skizzerz_Scissors.png Safety Skizzerz 10:50, 26 December 2007 (CST)

IPs[edit]

Thanks for letting me know. I guess I screwed up understanding the last section of the admin guide. On a similar note, do IPs that vandalize have a different procedure since they probably wouldn't see the warning? I understand how to undo damage but always freeze when it comes to dealing with the people.

Oh, if the meeting falls on the 1st or 2nd I can definitely make it this time :) --Zaiqukaj 06:05, 29 December 2007 (CST)

Template:Street Fighter II[edit]

Hi Proc. I was looking through the list of unused templates, and I came across an "SF2 Series" template. I moved it to Street Fighter II to be more consistent with the other series navs, but I can't implement it in the games it lists, as they're all categorised in the Street Fighter series — for this template to be used as-is, some of them would need to be moved out to an SF2 category. Do you want to split the SF games up into subcategories and do the series navigation that way, or do you want to have an absolutely massive "Street Fighter" series navigation template, which lists all of them? --DrBob (talk) 07:34, 29 December 2007 (CST)
