Mighty Bomb Jack guide[edit]

I came across your guide by accident, and just want to throw you a quick comment to show my appreciation. I acquired my NES in 1987 at the age of 6, and with it, Mighty Bomb Jack. Since the game was my first real experience with console gaming, it holds a special place in my heart. I had never completed the game, and really never knew how close i'd come in my best attempts (only one room away from the king, it turns out!). I grabbed the rom today, and along with your guide had a good time turning the game inside out for old times sake. Nacht 17:40, 11 January 2008 (CST)

Woohoo![edit]

You've just gained muchos respect from me for using the correct ellipsis entity in the last announcement. :-D --DrBob (talk) 20:23, 11 January 2008 (CST)

Excellent; at least somebody's paying attention to my public pedanticism. I did see what Nacht wrote, and I think it's great he took the time to tell you. Good job! --DrBob (talk) 08:16, 12 January 2008 (CST)

Alright, alright[edit]

I admit I was on a bit of a roll with the whole thing and maybe I went a little overboard, particularly on yours. I was mainly referring to paragraphing, actually. They seem kinda large and can be split into multiple smaller paragraphs rather than one big one.

I'm not sure if it was very "flame-y", considering how I mentioned how to improve and also how to get further assistance, but I'll edit it anyway. ----Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 13:01, 12 January 2008 (CST)

Small Game ToC cleanup[edit]

Hey Proc: check out this diff I made to Beraboh Man: [1]. I was thinking that maybe we should try and do the same for all of the guides you've pushed to stage 4 (an easy list to start off of). Getting Started can be static text when there's smaller sections, and walkthrough I think should be enlarged just because it's so important. I bet you'll say that it just confuses things, and I dunno, I need to think more on it... --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:58, 14 January 2008 (CST)

im thinking...(Pokemon RSE)[edit]

hey, you know how in Pokemon RBY you had boxes with the info on new Pokemon that you found on a new route you entered? Did you get the info from any particular area? i want to do something like that for RSE. if you came up with the info, can you look at what i write and edit it to suit? Plz Msg back. Peace out, God Bless. HaloSonic 14:06, 15 January 2008 (CST)

Hey Procyon, do you know the colour codes to use for the header boxes? I want to gat red, blue and green, and if possible, even a half-red-half-green and half-blue-half-green headers to distinguish version exclusive pokes. if you don't, do you know where to get them?

Peace out, God Bless. Halosonic 18:57, 25 January 2008 (CST)

Fractions[edit]

Yeah I can see the difference, but like I said, the difference is actually 3 pixels (at least on my PC) and so scanning it can be a pain, but ok. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:14, 15 January 2008 (CST)

Samurai Shodown and series revision[edit]

After looking at Samurai Shodown V, I think some things really need to be changed, and I know you're the guy to help me out. First of all, I think rather than "Walkthrough" being the repository for game controls, "Getting Started" or "Controls" would be more appropriate, since the Walkthrough section needs to exist for guide standardization and explanation of how the info in the guide is contained.

Secondly, I think the characters section should be under {{Samurai Shodown/Characters}} so that it can be easily imported into each Nav, and I think it should have its own row where all three columns of characters are spread out, with a "Characters" title centered above.

Thirdly, the "Moves" section on the main page of Samurai Shodown V should be subpaged to its own movelist page, which should also appear on the SSV ToC. I can't think of anything else right now, except that it's ugly =P --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:35, 18 January 2008 (CST)

Notmyhandle's criticisms are mostly valid, but ppl need to be clear that these are problems with all of the fighting game guides and not just Samurai Shodown V.
Firstly, the Samurai Shodown V page is on par with the other articles in the fighting games category. Look at Street Fighter III, Mortal Kombat II, The King of Fighters '95, Samurai Shodown, etc. for reference. The problem with controls, universal moves, rules, etc. ending up in the walkthrough is endemic throughout virtually all of the fighting game guides. I would guess this is mainly because it's impossible to make a page without a walkthrough section (technically it is possible, but it breaks the "show" button and if you do itin a multi-page guide it will probably be reverted within 60 minutes) and there's typically no reason to have a walkthrough for a fighting game, or a puzzle game, or a sports game. So, in an effort to avoid having an article full of links to a nonexistent walkthrough page, authors of fighting game guides end up dumping what should go under Getting Started and/or Controls into the walkthrough page and then renaming the walkthrough link in the TOC to "How to Play". I would assume that when ppl create new fighting game articles they typically just copy the layout from the existing, less than stellar, guides thus helping spread the plague. When I made the samsho5 page I was copying the layouts of Samurai Shodown, the Street Fighter series, and the Marvel vs. Capcom series and yes, I would agree that all of these pages "really need to be changed."
The current help section doesn't cover what should be done when dealing with a game for which the purpose of the walkthrough isn't very obvious. In fact, the [[StrategyWiki:Guide/Organization|help section on organization]] doesn't even list walkthrough in its sample layouts for both fighting games and racing games. There also seems to be a dearth of good examples for modeling a fighting game guide after, as in they don't actually exist.
Secondly, the characters section is under {{Samurai Shodown/Characters}}. I just embedded it in {{Samurai Shodown V/Characters}} so that the page would have the samsho5 header instead of the samsho header. I'm not a big fan of the current TOC/Header setup as it applies to games in a series. For example, if a user is looking at the Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike page and they click the Characters link in the TOC, they suddenly find themselves in the Street Fighter III section with no obvious route back to their starting point save using the back button in their web browser. I find it inefficient and unintuitive to have to click "show" on the header and then find and click "Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike" as a means of returning to the page I was just at. This was part of my attempt to kinda, sorta deal with this problem. Now if a user clicks the Characters link and then decides they don't actually want to read the character bios they have an obvious route back to their starting point.
Thirdly, in regards to your comment: "Are you aware of the purpose of the [hide]/[show] button on the left of the Nav? It opens up the Table of Contents, so really, all of the links that you're adding are already in the Nav if you click [show]." I'd just like to point out that the Table of Contents and Walkthrough links in the header are also redundant as you can access them by clicking [hide]/[show]. I am of the opinion that if there's going to be redundancy it should at least be semi-consistent. Besides, using the whole [hide]/[show] is kind of a pain. It's a lot easier if all of the major links (TOC, Walkthrough, Characters, Appendix) are right there in the header. Just my 2¢. But I don't want to do it if it's going to irritate folks or just keep getting reverted. --WretchedSpawn 19:20, 19 January 2008 (CST)
Sorry. The "less than stellar" bit was referring exclusively to the guide layouts, and mostly just the walkthrough issue. The guides themselves are typically excellent. I should have made that clearer and it was still an exaggeration on my part.
  • My posts on your talk page always seem to turn into lengthy rants. So I've spared you and deleted the rest of this message. --WretchedSpawn 18:07, 20 January 2008 (CST)
Bmuig referred me to the Move lists project where it seems that folks are already working to rectify most of these issues. I went ahead and made a test page for Street Fighter II that implements some fixes for a few of the problems I listed. You can find the posting here on the Moves list project page. As you seem to be a person of some prominence within the fighting game subculture of StrategyWiki I would be very curious to know what you think of it. --WretchedSpawn 00:54, 21 January 2008 (CST)
Gotta give him a chance first :) I like these divergent viewpoints (to an extent). Might be able to help improve things. -- Prod (Talk) 00:12, 14 February 2008 (CST)

Question about game maps[edit]

I like the maps you included in the Mighty Bomb Jack guide, and I'm working on incorporating similar maps for The Lost Vikings but I need some advice. I can make the maps I need, but they end up being quite large. For example, the map for the second level of The Lost Vikings ended up being 1024 x 783 pixels, and approx 207KB. Some maps later in the game would be even larger. I think it's a good size to indicate everything needed for a player, but it's obviously too large to include on a webpage. I know I have the option of using the scrolling map template, but would it be better to use that or to scale down the image? Or are there other options I'm not aware of? I'm afraid that if I scale down the image then detail will be lost, making it potentially less useful. It would be like the difference in the Actraiser maps on snesmaps.com and the version of those maps used in the ActRaiser guide on StrategyWiki. Clearly, the SW version is so small it's hard to make some things out. Any ideas? --New User 21:43, 18 January 2008 (CST)

Thanks for the advice. Since seeing the path to the the exit (and the exit itself) is the main focus, I see how the smaller map will work. Still, I never heard of "cubic interpolation" before, but after playing around with GIMP I think I've figured it out so I'll give it a shot. Oh and about the name New User, I started that when I would use public computers to access websites, because some sites save the user name in the login screen even after the session has ended. There's no chance of someone getting my password or anything, but if I use a computer at a library or internet cafe and sign in to StrategyWiki or Wikipedia, then sign out, when the next person goes to the sign in screen the name New User (which doesn't appear to be a user name at all) appears in the username field, so it's really just for increased anonymity. --New User 22:44, 18 January 2008 (CST)
Sounds like the origin of my alias... --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:33, 19 January 2008 (CST)

Pocket Fighter[edit]

I think it's ready to be feature, so I'll throw my support up on that in a bit, however as I'm reviewing all of the content I'm coming up with things you might want to also notice:

  1. Footer Navs may not be present on all pages.
  2. The how to play section lacks any GUI information (for the health section you could put an image of a health bar, and if health bars are multi-tiered you could show that in an image as well... but I don't think Pocket Fighters has multi-tiered health bars... You could also put images of what the "win" counters look like and the super meter too.).
  3. Item sections lacks definitive damage notes (even relative to one another). If there's a way you can find out a number for each that would be awesome.
  4. There's a note at the bottom of the items page that says items can affect anyone if thrown and it misses - just for clarification you're saying you can hurt yourself with these? It's not clearly apparent.
  5. Missing image of a "rainbow gem."
  6. In the "Knock Downs and Mega Crush" section of How to play, the term "Counter Crash" - is it correct? Or should it be "Counter Crush"?
  7. Perhaps we should move Walkthrough to How to Play, then redirect Walkthrough to that page, then re-arrange the page so we can remove that one level 2 header...
  8. I changed "Dashin Kick" to "Dashing Kick" on the Walkthrough page - you didn't add the apostrophe so I wasn't sure if it was legitimate.

I'll add more later --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:16, 22 January 2008 (CST)

Simultaneus Button Presses For Fighting Games[edit]

How are these addressed? I want to replace all instances of Image:Playstation-Button-Tcs.png, but I'm not sure how to do it (like, "Triangle Circle Square" images next to one another, or "Triangle + Circle + Square" with pluses in between or what). I accidentally added a duplicate page[edit]

Hi, I was wondering if you could delete a page, or help me to figure out how to delete a page, because i added the page Grand Theft Auto 4 when there was already a page for it under Grand Theft Auto IV. I apoligize most sincerly for my erroneous ways, and please ask you to not ban me from this awesome website, because I love it. Re: Castlevania plans[edit]

While I would love to create guides for all of CV games, I doubt I will have that much time, so that's a very long term goal. However I'll most likely work on another CV game when I get Circle of the Moon done, but for now I was just turning all of the CotM red links blue in preparation for it becoming featured.

Thanks for your offer of support with the FA nom, and with any luck the guide will be ready to go in a week or two. - Koweja 20:42, 31 January 2008 (CST)

Thanks for the Advice[edit]

Thanks for the little tip, but it almost sounded insulting. Me and the guys have only been working on that for a week, and you should've seen how little it had on there. Plus, I did say that on the thing, too. I will listen to what you said, so I will clean that up a little bit, but still. Besides, I forgot half of the game's story, so that's why there's a big gap between Chapters 6-18. Besides that, there's also Legendary Pokemon guides (Unfinished, by far.), and I had a temporary partners list, but some idiot deleted that, so I have to recreate that. So, thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GaleZephule (talkcontribs) .

You're right. I guess I got a little sensitive about it. But can I ask one thing that has to do with improving the guide? If a Table of Contents is locked, how do you unlock it? It's just that I went to get an extra page in, and I couldn't because somebody locked it! Is there anything I could do?

Also, if you could, can you maybe help out on writing some things, too? We really could use an extra hand. I'm the only one that's actually writing and not cleaning up, and it gets hard. So if you can, thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GaleZephule (talkcontribs) .

Thanks for telling me about the spacing. I was wondering how all of my writing ended up like that. Really, thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GaleZephule (talkcontribs) .

Can you take a look at the guide now, and see if I'm doing any good with it, and stuff? I just want to know if that's what you would have done. Also, notice that I actually did my signature this time. --GaleZephule 13:59, 13 February 2008 (CST)

Okay, thanks. Just one question: How do I do that? --GaleZephule 14:10, 13 February 2008 (CST)

Forums[edit]

I just go to know, why can't I have Forum page? It's basically just another Talk page with different functionality. Is there some kind of space issue going on or something? Like, is there only a limited amount of pages for StrategyWiki? Or is it illegal or something?

Emulators[edit]

Thanks for the pointer to Category:Emulators. I've revised and restructured the content to cover both "processor emulators" such as MAME and "operating system emulators" such as DOSBox. Hope you like it. For now I've just commented out the previous content, in case you think I've missed something important. Philcha 15:43, 1 March 2008 (CST)

Featured Guide requests[edit]

Well, "a week or two" turned out to be a month, but I finally got Castlevania: Circle of the Moon finished and nominated. Thanks again for your earlier offer of support.

Also, speaking of FG nominations, I made one minor change to your Dragon Warrior guide. I converted the enemy tables into a template ({{DWenemy}}, which should make editing the page easier. No worries; I learned long ago that what I considered to be the optimal way of organizing things doesn't always match everyone else's preference. The changes that you made to the CV2 guide work for me; I like having the story on the front page since it means less white space. In any case, it's good to have the perspective of someone who hasn't played the game as much as I have. I probably played the game at least seven times over the course of making the guide, which has the unfortunate side-effect of making it impossible to see things from the perspective of a new player.

Go ahead and make all the changes that you want. If I disagree with them, I'll bring it up here. - Koweja 17:41, 7 March 2008 (CST)

Re: CV2 sprites[edit]

That would be great, as the sprites in CV2 are exceptionally drab. I have a few more to upload, specifically the common enemies, but whatever you can do to improve them would be great. I would ask that you don't animate them, as I really don't like animation on webpages. You can find all of the original sprites here: http://www.spriters-resource.com/konami/castlevania/cv2/. Thanks, this'll help a lot. - Koweja (Talk | Contributions) 18:40, 9 March 2008 (CDT)

Very nice work; looks a lot better now. Out of curiosity, what do you use to enhance the images like that? - Koweja (Talk | Contributions) 10:13, 12 March 2008 (CDT)

Radiatapedia[edit]

They're may not be much information on Radiatapedia that you'd be interested in, I'm it's only active user who knows anything about the game and I do not have as much time as i would like to spend on it. This wiki has information that Radiatapedia could most definitely use, so I to may start to import much of the information found on this wiki to Radiatapedia.

NDS (Zelda Phantom Hourglass) screenshots[edit]

Hi. I like the screenshots of maps of Phantom Hourglass you uploaded. Can I ask - how did you take them? If via an emulator, which one? I'm using no$gba but the colours are very washed out compared to your pics. Pelago 15:16, 13 April 2008 (CDT)

Ah, it looks like No$GBA (which I believe is supposed to be the fastest emulator, not that I've tested myself) can be configured to give brighter colours, by going into Emulation Options, then setting GBA Mode to "VGA (poppy bright)". Then the pics look just like your IDeaS shots. This is good because I was thinking of submitting some screenshots and wanted them to look consistent with yours. I've put some notes about this in Talk:The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Pelago 16:19, 14 April 2008 (CDT)

Re: Nice work[edit]

Thanks, glad you like it so far. If you don't agree with any of my changes, feel free to revert or bring up with me. I'm more than happy to find a middle ground. As for the "less-is-more", I agree with that for the walkthrough (though I don't always follow that philosophy) especially, though I find that some sections, especially the Getting Started/How to Play/etc, the more you can put out there, the more likely you are to cover everyone's needs. As long as things are properly sectioned, it shouldn't be too confusing.

One thing that I meant to ask you about is your(?) strategy against Dracula's second form. It originally said to use the Holy Water, however I changed it to say use the Boomerang. Since only Dracula's head is vulnerable, the Water didn't seem to effective. Is there a way to killing him with the water that I missed? - Koweja (Talk | Contributions) 16:23, 13 April 2008 (CDT)

Okay, I think I've gotten everything that I want added/changed. Let me know if you disagree with anything or if I missed something. Do you know of any more differences between the first and second quest? - Koweja (Talk | Contributions) 00:32, 15 April 2008 (CDT)
Well, if you can't think of anything else to add, go ahead and nominate it for Featured Article. I'd be happy to support it ;) - Koweja (Talk | Contributions) 09:29, 16 April 2008 (CDT)

Re: lyrics[edit]

I forgot to ask this before: but why exactly are they listed in the first place? This is a video game guide site, I don't see why the site is promoting the video game music in the first place. It doesn't provide guide help. Random things thrown into main articles doesn't seem like a good thing for here. Isn't it better suited for a Nintendo fan wiki, or a general video game wiki (that doesn't have the main purpose of guides)? RobJ1981 00:07, 15 April 2008 (CDT)

MrSue[edit]

I didn't ban him for that. If you can't see his acts of vandalism, then you need to look closer (and at other wikis). For the king dedede page, only some of the changes are valid, and so I reverted it as the first step in fixing it (although I should have waited and done an undo, I think. Wait that doesn't work does it...). Anyways, clearly his contributions are positive in some ways, but that doesn't mean they are always acceptable. If you want to clean up his shit from now on, go ahead and unban him. I'm not going to deal with assaulthead if I have to. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:44, 18 April 2008 (CDT)

I rechecked the edit, just to make things right, and I see the little thing that triggered my revert click, although yeah I shouldn't have on that edit - the image was purposefully formatted incorrectly to require an edit anyways (should have made it right to minimize edits), but the additional info is indeed valid. MAME Guide[edit]

Hi Procyon, Barthax from GamerWiki here. I figured it'd be easier to have a cross-wiki chat than concentrate it at GW. :) StrategyWiki is nothing new to me - the Hydro Thunder page is largely mine (baring formatting & split). The MAME guide is an excellent foundation. I went through a stage of "collecting" emulators and have many more derivations if you are at all interested in expanding the historical derivatives. If there is to be one addition to that list that is required (IMO) it is WolfMAME - a gaming-specific derivation which includes measures for anti-cheating. --Barthax 05:37, 22 April 2008 (CDT)

Super Smash Bros. Melee: merges?[edit]

See: Super Smash Bros. Melee/Glossary, Super Smash Bros. Melee/Easter Eggs and Super Smash Bros. Melee/Misc. Do you think these could be merged somewhere else? I don't see the point of tiny pages like those. The glossary is just a small list of in-game terms, easter eggs is a few things as well, while Misc is a few other unlockables. Perhaps I'm being too picky. RobJ1981 00:25, 3 May 2008 (CDT)

Well the Technique Terminology section could just be merged into controls, couldn't it? I'm not sure where the else could be moved to. On a different note: I found a site that has instruction manuals. This looks like a very reliable site (and I think it's free from what I can tell). It would help expand controls, and even plot/story sections of games. [2] is the site. Is there any sort of general resource page (to list links and so on) on Strategy Wiki? Space Invaders (and similar games)[edit]

I think we need to start adding the compilation and alternate names to many more articles (especially older games like Space Invaders). I didn't do a complete check for alternate names when I had done the removing of a few systems, but if I would've seen it on the article already I would've known. Compilations are just evil. I looked up Battlezone (arcade), and I'm not sure if I caught all. I saw some other Battlezone games on a list, but I wasn't sure if they were ports, sequels or just something else. With a decent size of compilation games on here, it shouldn't be too hard to go through the systems. RobJ1981 12:38, 7 May 2008 (CDT)

Yes, that covers it. From now on, I'll look more into games that have been ported to other systems (and the titles related to them). It's frustrating with all the slightly different titles they slap on games that are the same thing. I use Gamefaqs as a source, when I'm not sure of the results I see on Wikipedia. Moby Games loads slowly for me, so I rarely use that. RobJ1981 23:59, 7 May 2008 (CDT)
I own Namco Museum for PlayStation 2 (which has Pac-Man Arrangement). I always thought it of it was a remake/remix of the original. Did it come out for anything by itself though? I've only seen it listed in compilations. RobJ1981 15:07, 8 May 2008 (CDT)

Re: Pokemon Template[edit]

I placed it on those subpages because I've always considered them a kind of standalone article... I'm fine with taking the template off of them. Do you think the way I laid out the template is fine? Any suggestions for cleaning it up?--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 19:57, 14 May 2008 (CDT)

Requested Guides Removal[edit]

What's with this diff Proc? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:16, 15 May 2008 (CDT)

Well, I agree with you on brawl (although it's not comp level 4), however the other two are basically stubs - by "requested guide" are we just asking for people to tell us what pages we should create from wikidumps? I dunno, maybe he was requesting improvements xD --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:06, 16 May 2008 (CDT)

Thank you for the help and advice[edit]

Thank you for your help and the guide was really something, but it is really a bumper since I didn't understand some parts. It took me half an hour just to know how to send other people a message. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vom53 (talkcontribs) .

X (Game Boy game)[edit]

Megaman battle network 5 walktrough help[edit]

yo Procyon, long time no talk. i finally got hold of MMBN5 so i can start the walkthrough. only problem is that i can't set up the walkthrough chapters. do you know if you could get someone to look into it for me. thanks in advance. Peace out, God Bless. Halosonic 19:43, 27 May 2008 (CDT)

Congrats[edit]

Heya Procyon, long time no see :) Just wanted to congratulate you on the awesome Super Star Force walkthrough. Without it I wouldn't have been able to beat the game. I fixed a couple of mistakes I caught too. One question about the Babel No Tou game. Everyone calls it Babel No Tou, but on the title screen and box art it just says "Babel". Where exactly does the "No Tou" appear in the game or box? ReyVGM 22:45, 6 June 2008 (CDT)

Re: Prototype tables[edit]

Sure. I wouldn't mind at all. (I'm actually surprised you saw my lil' project. LOL). But I wouldn't mind doing some work to existing tables. Just let me know where to work and I'll do what I can. Oh, and I'm working on "Command Moves" too. Check'em out. (Ganj 23:09, 23 June 2008 (CDT))

I'm sorry about my attitude.[edit]

To tell the truth, I'm also a hothead. I already got banned once in Wikipedia. That is when I try to work more calmy. In this one, I feel like nothing's happening and I end up doing bad things because I can't keep my cool. Unlike others, I do have difficulty getting help. That's why I could end up getting banned because of the difficulty of getting help. You are right in this case so I'll try to calm myself down so that I don't end up getting the impression that everyone hates me. I'm a loner and I do need friends to hang around on the net. So I'm sorry about it. Forgive me if there are anymore things that'll make me mad. Johnnyauau2000 23:22, 23 June 2008 (CDT) Thanks I'll keep that in mind. Since this is similar to Wikipedia that I also work with on Seinfeld, I'll see if I can help thinking of new contributions as long as the community if I can call that can crank out new games into this site for example the Cruis'n series that I thought was going to be there in both the Wii and the Virtual Console. I also believe that Prod and Notmyhandle can help me on this. Thanks for the advice. Johnnyauau2000 19:18, 24 June 2008 (CDT) Well, I can but I don't even know the first thing about making a new page than go on creating pages. So even if the tutorial helps I do find it hard to do. Don't worry. I'm not upset. I do have mood swings but I don't take it too personally if it can be easily solved. Just to let you know, I'm getting Super Smash Bros Brawl tomorrow in Australia. Also Alone in the Dark is also going to be here tomorrow. I'll hold back on editing until Friday. Instead I'll go around looking for ideas that'll make me happy. So I'm gonna take a step back tomorrow because I'm going to try out the new games. Johnnyauau2000 01:45, 25 June 2008 (CDT)

Re: #switch in template help[edit]

Should be fixed now. You can't break up HTML tags like that as it completely breaks the parser. Aka the first font tag you had in the switch thought that the entire rest of the switch statement was a parameter to that tag and not something different. --Skizzerz (talk · contribs) 10:21, 24 June 2008 (CDT)

Re: Net Fighters[edit]

Hi Procyon! Thank you for not deleting my article. Actually I've just temporally posted the Portuguese version, planning to translate it in a few days. I'll be working in a manually translated version the next days, don't worry =). Also, I'll try to correct the other problems you pointed out. Thank you!

Japanese naming[edit]

I was under the impression that past consensus was that games released in English should be listed under the English name, or the most common name in the case of multiple English names; in that case, shouldn't Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium be R.B.I. Baseball? GarrettTalk 22:08, 26 June 2008 (CDT)

Featured article ideas[edit]

I was looking through your page here: User:Procyon/Famicom, and I think games such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong could be featured. The Wiki has been at 5 featured guides for a while, and it certainly needs some new ones. What do you think? RobJ1981 14:30, 28 July 2008 (CDT)

I added Donkey Kong to the requests for featured guides. While it is a retro game, it isn't known only for that. Newer gamers experience it for the first time, due to the Virtual Console and the recent Donkey Kong documentary: King of Kong. I'm not going to request any older games until the wiki has a lot of more modern/recent games as featured. So, games from the 1990s-present, is what I'm going by for future requests. RobJ1981 03:11, 30 July 2008 (CDT)

New Wiki[edit]

Hey Procyon, I'm a little bit out of the loop. You mentioned Echelon is starting up second wiki? What for, may I ask?--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 11:56, 14 August 2008 (CDT)

Bot[edit]

Probably could have been botted, but it wasn't that much effort and it was much easier going than trying to do the misspellings log. I only found the page when I was looking through Template:Future and thought it had been there for a long time, I didn't realise that it had only been there a month. Oh well... I'll finish it off.--The preceding signed comment was added by Rocky (talkcontribs). 12:49, 14 August 2008 (CDT)

Kid Icarus[edit]

I wasn't sure if these were listed yet:

Press B, A, then B on Controller 1 after a game over, but before title screen appears. (Continue) Inside the shop, press A + B simulataneously on Controller #2. (Lower Prices in Shop). Since those are the only controller cheats (that I could find at least), perhaps Kid Icarus/Passwords should be renamed so they can be in that page. Good job on the guide, it looks complete to me. RobJ1981 02:45, 21 August 2008 (CDT)

Star Fox 2[edit]

Hi, yes I think I'm going to make multiple pages. I was thinking of making these sections:

1-Intro, Contents and Emulation

2-Controls

3-Character Selection

4-Difficulty

5-Gameplay

6-Strategy

7-Scoring

8-Secrets (with trivia added)

But anyway how do you normally create the pages? just typing for example http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Star_Fox_2/Controls and editing it? How then do you put them in order for the table of contents?

Thanks for the help ; ) ~ Galaxy 20:19, 24 August 2008 (CDT)

---

Well thanks for that, sorry for the trouble, I had a look on the guide but didn't realise how to do it, now I know you have to do it editing the ToC. Thanks again. ~ Galaxy 20:29, 24 August 2008 (CDT)

re: DoubleJump[edit]

No problem, I'm a big fan of their work, and their guides are pretty much the only guides I buy any more. I'm just happy that the template has finally been put to good use. --Vizeroth 22:21, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Er, that reminds me Procyon, I realise I never told you about {{DoubleJump}} being made functional, but you've probably noticed that by now. :P It's not very good but it's a start, and it's probably more noticeable than the sidebar idea anyway since it's not competing for attention with the Flash ad. Capcom Mark of the Millenium cleanup[edit]

Zelda II strategy[edit]

You sure have a wealth of knowledge to put into your Famicom guides... do you know so much by just playing the game or what? Anyway, I know the Zelda II guide is incomplete, so I hope I'm not jumping the gun here, but I seemed to remember that you can use the Fairy spell to unlock doors by flying into the keyhole. A quick google search tells me that it won't unlock doors, it'll just allow Link to get to the other side. You may want to incorporate this into your guide. New User 22:49, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Sorry again[edit]

I don't expect you to accept my apologies, but I apologize nonetheless. I forgot to take my mood stabilizing medicine that day.

Re: Somethin ain't right...[edit]

Check out Zelda II: The Adventure of Link/Hearts and Potions... those thumbs don't look right. All of that white should be black, click the thumbs to see what the image should look like. Procyon (Talk) 04:17, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

This issue is GIF-specific--I've swapped one of the images with a PNG and it displays as intended. StrategyWiki is currently using an inaccurate image handler. It causes similar problems with SVG. Hopefully DrBob/Skizzerz/etc. will be able to fix this now we're on the new server. GarrettTalk 04:55, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Link to the Past Edit[edit]

This edit here has Rocky, myself, and DrBob a little mixed up. It says it's saying you need 4 silver arrows to kill Ganon, but it seems he's replaced the instance of "4" with a "1", so we don't know what to do. --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 16:17, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Each hit does 1 damage instead of 4. -- Prod (Talk) 16:24, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, the number next to the weapon reflects how much damage the weapon does to the opponent. Since Ganon has 4 HP, and the player must hit Ganon with four silver arrows, one silver arrows does 1HP of damage to him. The anon edit was correct, it was my mistake initially. Procyon (Talk) 17:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Zelda II bosses[edit]

Just a note: I went ahead and added boss strategies for each of these. Feel free to make any changes, if you like. I figured I would just help you get the section started. 74.242.104.128 22:47, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps, dude, next time - do it in one large edit rather than multiple smaller ones. --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 22:50, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Arcade images[edit]

I heard you were the one to talk to about getting some more arcade images. We could use an omnidirectional joystick (with all eight direction arrows) or a neutral joystick (maybe not a top-down view?). Also "1P", "2P", etc. buttons in the same style as the "A" and "B" buttons. I don't know if you make these yourself or just know where to get them. I had an idea for dealing with all the variations of button colors and types: maybe a bunch of blank buttons with different colors and a separate background-transparent image overlayed. So if you put in like {{cade|Blue|1P}} you'd get the blue button with the "1P" image on top. Just an idea. Thanks, - najzere 20:47, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Reply to the new games.[edit]

I understand. If you want me to do it without any help than that's fine. I apologise to put them through their paces. I just feel guilty and scared a lot. I won't do that sort again and if I make anything else worse than I'm sorry. If you want me to quit this site than I'll understand. Johnnyauau2000 01:49, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Now that I considered that, I took some major time figuring out all the links for Quantum of Solace and did the content setup for Call of Duty and Quantum of Solace. I also learn to do the header and footer off by heart. I understand the process of images but I know I can't produce the box art out of thin air. Maybe I overlooked something. I'm just wondering if you download the image first than upload it to this site or is the process is very different? Is the source in anything other than Gamespot? I'm just puzzled that's all.

To tell the truth, its not that I don't wanna do those things but whether I ever have the guts to do it. Like when you go into editing world, people you meet might be evil at first but later it turns out to be nice people. To make it harder, I do have mild autism. I don't know who to trust in this world nowadays. So its the sort of criticisms I'm used to nowadays. Not to mention that I do like to cry a lot over my problems. Anyway, thank you for giving me a wake up call. Johnnyauau2000 05:46, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks again. I'll keep it in mind. Johnnyauau2000 15:21, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Well I tried to log in but it got rejected. Do you need to register or is there something I jumped into without thinking? I have a feeling I may need to register first. Johnnyauau2000 02:12, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Actually it got worst. The password rule is not what I was hoping. It requires a mix of small/big cases numbers and the computer symbols which makes it too complex. So on second thoughts, I wouldn't register to a forum without screwing up my password. So sorry about that. Maybe if they relax the password rule than I won't have to memorise two passwords for the rest of my life. Johnnyauau2000 06:26, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Street Fighter EX bios[edit]

Which sources? I've been translating the character profiles from the waybacked versions of the EX2 and EX2 Plus sites, as well as the ending transcriptions from All About Capcom Fighting Games (which you can see here as well) and none of the backstories given match up. For example, I have yet to see an official source from Capcom or Arika which states that Sharon and Blair are sisters. Or that Hayate and Hokuto are lovers? Jonny2x4 23:07, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Like I said. I own All About Capcom Head-to-Head Fighting Game book myself and none of those character connections I've brought up are mentioned, having just look up Blair Dame and Sharon's bios right now. Sharon's bio implies she has a relative she doesn't know of, but its a relative who works for a crime syndicate.
Just to be certain that you actually own All About Capcom too and aren't just bsing, on which pages do you find Sharon and Blair's bios? Jonny2x4 23:28, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
I just wanted to be certain that you were telling the truth (since I have come across my fair share of BSers during the years). Don't take it personally, especially since you proved to me you're the real deal. As for my edit history is not the issue here. Any problem I have other editors is purely their business and mine.
I'm just like everyone else who contributed to the site and make it all the posted info as legit as possible. Those EX bios struck me as suspicious, since I'm working on a Street Fighter EX2 and EX2 Plus plot guide (which I will post on my personal blog) and none of the plot developments brought up there are mentioned in all the published backstories and endings I've read and I wanted to change them.
I take it you didn't write them yourself? Jonny2x4 01:49, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Sure, no prob. I didn't meant to offend you, so sorry. I'll be fixing the other characters' bios soon. Jonny2x4 03:14, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
