Template: {{ZTP}}[edit]

Wait a bit before changing everything over. I have an idea to do that much more simply. -- Prod (Talk) 18:58, 7 February 2007 (CST)

What is it? I'd love a simpler way of doing it! --Ryan Schmidt 19:01, 7 February 2007 (CST)
Check the staff lounge. -- Prod (Talk) 19:45, 7 February 2007 (CST)

To avoid some of the extra ones you could do North{{ZTP|west|gc={{{gc}}}}}. That way you only need the upper/lower case east and west ones. -- Prod (Talk) 14:42, 10 February 2007 (CST)

Sure thing. Also, I have absolutely no experience in categorizing things, so could you get
[[File:A From Wii.gif]]
into an actual button category, like
{{Wii|A}}
? --Ryan Schmidt 14:45, 10 February 2007 (CST)
Check the source for what I wrote just above, I think you got the wrong idea. Also, use for the All Game Nav and Footer Navs, they can be done by themselves. As for the control images, I'll try and get the template set up, though the pics won't be very good. -- Prod (Talk) 15:17, 10 February 2007 (CST)
Oh, I get it now! Thx! --Ryan Schmidt 15:18, 10 February 2007 (CST)
I've changed around the The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess/The Beginning/GameCube page so that it should be moved to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameCube)/The Beginning. I'm still trying to figure out how to do the ToC though. -- Prod (Talk) 15:27, 10 February 2007 (CST)
Set up one central ToC with two tags next to each section that has two versions, so it resembles:
  1. The Beginning (Wii) (GameCube)
You could probably link the part that says "The Beginning" to one of them as well, to take out that guide's tag, like so:
  1. The Beginning (GameCube) --Ryan Schmidt 15:38, 10 February 2007 (CST)
That's one option I was thinking, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameCube)/Table of Contents is another option. I think you're right though, should have both options from the same toc. -- Prod (Talk) 15:42, 10 February 2007 (CST)
I'll do it once I know which version of the ToC you would prefer (the Wii/GameCube tags or the Wii link w/ a GameCube tag, or something else entirely)--Ryan Schmidt 15:54, 10 February 2007 (CST)
Well, the way I tried didn't work, so I did it your way. I finished moving the pages and cleaning up the links as well. All that's left now is button images. Some of those options I would say you should avoid. For example, rather than saying Z/L target, just say target, and things like that. I'll set up the {{Wii}} template now. -- Prod (Talk) 15:56, 10 February 2007 (CST)
I had almost finished all the images...then you just had to go and add those two new buttons >.>.... Thanks for the reminder, for some reason I didn't see them on my controller :P (guess cause I never use em). -- Prod (Talk) 16:46, 10 February 2007 (CST)
Btw, the template only checks if |gc= something, the text isn't important, so |gc=True is the same as |gc=False. -- Prod (Talk) 19:45, 10 February 2007 (CST)

Organization of Twilight Princess sections[edit]

Don't you think you should use === Subsections=== instead of simply marking different places bold?--Dan 17:15, 10 February 2007 (CST)

Great idea. Why didn't I think of that? (I seriously didn't) --Ryan Schmidt 17:20, 10 February 2007 (CST)
Glad I brought it up. Great work, by the way.--Dan 17:49, 10 February 2007 (CST)

Potential significant change, could use input and later assistance.[edit]

I started a discussion on making a pretty substantial change to {{infobox}} and I thought I'd let you know about the discussion in case you were interested or wanted to help with the change if it was supported. link. Oh, and if you know someone who would want to help out/discuss this who's talk page I didn't leave it on, if you could let them know, that'd be useful, thanks. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 09:00, 16 February 2007 (CST)

Your opinion[edit]

It matters. Admins only enforce what everyone decides is correct. -- Prod (Talk) 00:14, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Cool. That makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside :-P --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 22:43, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Sword of Mana[edit]

Are you planning to contribute to the guide? P.S I've copied the other side of the agreement from Froglet's talk as well, thanks for the idea Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 11:10, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Yes I am. I'm working on the besitary and item list right now, and I'll help with the walkthrough later.
Where do you get the info from for the bestiary?
Guidebook ;) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 11:39, 25 February 2007 (CST)

P.S User:Wikipedia has a crush on Kate McAuliffe has been blocked for vandalizing your user page (and others)

I know. People like that really need to get a life. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 11:43, 25 February 2007 (CST)

P.P.S Does your guidebook have info about the item: Brownie Ring (Subland river), I think it's the best item in the game I found it by messing around in an area of Subland River.

Yes, it tells its stats and how to get it (I have the official guide from Nintendo Power, I'd be amazed if it didn't have those sort of things in it). --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 11:50, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Template:bluecell[edit]

I've deleted this (and the yellow cell one) because they're too trivial to require templatising. Just use the appropriate wikimarkup inline. ;-) --DrBob (Talk) 12:24, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Yeah, I discovered that after I hit "Preview" (I think you're right though) :) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 12:37, 25 February 2007 (CST)

== Fixing my user page ==

Hey, I wanted those comments there!!! Thanks :). -- Prod (Talk) 20:50, 1 March 2007 (CST)

Sorry, I think...(were you being sarcastic?) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 20:52, 1 March 2007 (CST)
I was hoping the obviousness/Thanks (and the smiley ^_^) would overpower the bolding, it's always hard to tell how people interpret text. But yes, I'm grateful :). -- Prod (Talk) 22:37, 1 March 2007 (CST)

Edit Summaries[edit]

With the new wiki software, it tries to make up for people who forget to leave summaries. One of the automatic summaries for new pages is to say "New page: ******", where ****** is what the user typed in. Others include stating when some created a redirect, blanked a page or replaced a page with small amounts of text. Very useful for quickly detecting vandalism on wp :). Although this is premature, congrats on your adminship :). -- Prod (Talk) 14:22, 2 March 2007 (CST)

Yeah, kudos to you ^_^ Procyon 14:52, 2 March 2007 (CST)

Templates[edit]

You may want to check out Category:Message templates, and add any good ones you can think of. -- Prod (Talk) 17:16, 2 March 2007 (CST)

Twilight Princess Hidden Grottos[edit]

I came across this guide today. The legal section says "There is no legal information, because I really don't care what people do with this. Take and use whatever you want, it's all good." I don't know if you have this info already, but, anyway, there you have it. :) GarrettTalk 22:00, 3 March 2007 (CST)

Awesomeness. I didn't have that info already. This will really help out the TP guide. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 11:17, 4 March 2007 (CST)

Sword of Mana[edit]

How do I find out the bosses stats, I don't have a walkthrough or anything?--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 04:12, 4 March 2007 (CST)

Sorry 'bout that. I put the stats on this page. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 11:20, 4 March 2007 (CST)

Hi![edit]

Hey Ryan! This is my first time communicating with you... :-P. I would like to say, I like your puzzle feature on your user page, very unique. I understand you have Superstar Saga looking at you games page, I own that game as well, and it is one of my favorites. I have to ask, did you get the idea of a games page from my own user page? Just wondering. :-) Lunar Knight 14:33, 4 March 2007 (CST)

Yes, I also got the idea to put a few of my pages in a sidebar nav from you too. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 14:36, 4 March 2007 (CST)
Ahhh... Looking at your contributions, you've been here sine May 06?! And this is my first time talking to you? Wow! :-O Lunar Knight 14:48, 4 March 2007 (CST)
It might seem silly to ask this, but could you sign on my user page as a visitor? So far since the start of my membership in August, I have only achieved one. (I had to ask for that one too. :-P) Lunar Knight 14:51, 4 March 2007 (CST)

Why did you revert my edit, I found the message and made it work, half my user, half my talk.

Rally-X Rock.pngUser:RockyUser talk:Rocky

The only problem is that you can't do the line break, <br> won't work so it wont see the parameters so this happens.

Sorry I forgot I saved ----Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 11:05, 6 March 2007 (CST)

I reverted it because I realized that you can't go multiline in the signature preferences. Actually, I just thought of something. Put the imagemap thing on a seperate user page, like User:Rocky/sig (just the imagemap part), and have {{subst:User:Rocky/sig}} in your signature line. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:04, 6 March 2007 (CST)
i've been warned by mason about this, but this is a good workaround for his complaint, thanks ^_^ --Rocky

Not really, as it still breaks the indentation of the discussion, creates a new line, and is a lot of code (175 characters and 5 lines) to sign your name. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 15:33, 6 March 2007 (CST)
I've got a way around the new line being formed (sort of, its on Rocky's talk page), but I do agree that it is a lot of code (and the workaround is even more >_<) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:41, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Congratulations[edit]

Just wanted to offer you a congrats on the promotion. Keep up all the great work. Maybe you'll help me on some retro titles ^_^; Procyon 12:44, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Congratulations indeed. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 13:35, 6 March 2007 (CST)

I'll see what I can do, but I don't own that many retro games (yet). Viva la Virtual Console! :-P --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:01, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Sysop now? Congratulations! You deserve it. Our ranks are expanding quickly (Three new sysops since January). Lunar Knight (Talk to me + Contribs) 20:28, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Answers[edit]

! means that the page hasn't been patrolled. It's when all the admins work together to make sure every edit has been looked over at least once. A few of us tend to go over most edits anywayz, so I don't think it's used very much. -- Prod (Talk) 20:07, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Bulbapedia[edit]

Just to note on iE6 there is no bulb in the links or the sign for external links.----

The external link icon shouldn't show up at all, but the bulb link issue kinda confuses me, but then again, IE is retarded. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:02, 7 March 2007 (CST)
You should see the site under IE5:p----

Category:X-com apocalypse images[edit]

Unless you've got a good reason, this category should actually be called "Category:X-COM: Apocalypse images" — capitalisation is important, even in category titles. ;-) --DrBob (Talk) 18:50, 9 March 2007 (CST)

not really any good reason, I'll fix it (and the images in it) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 18:51, 9 March 2007 (CST)

Boilerplates[edit]

Hi Ryan. I like what you've done with your complex boilerplate, and I think it deserves to be made a little more "official". Would you mind moving it into the Template namespace, and adding it to the Message templates category? I think we'll get some good use of it. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 12:10, 10 March 2007 (CST)

Sure. I add it to my boilerplate page and just wait for messages like these saying that people like them. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 12:12, 10 March 2007 (CST)

Userpage[edit]

Umm..., thanks for telling me (what's going on?), I looked and it was normal, is it something to do with the job Queue, blatant vandalism or what?

P.S Saying don't look will mean I do and it'd probably be bad because I tried to make the footer.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 01:48, 11 March 2007 (CST)

It was apparantly something that we messed with. The job queue was 0 when I made that comment, but something later was changed and I guess it was fixed. Basically the right-side toolbox, sidebar navs, and google ads were floating on top of the left side of the page itself (where the ToC is), and the navigation box on the right was shoved down to the bottom of the page, and the blue bar was way over to the right at the bottom. It looked really ugly ;) (It happened to my userpage and 0-172's as well, but I guess it's fixed now) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 09:02, 11 March 2007 (CDT)
AHA! Garrett fixed it for you. Check out this to see what it was --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 09:05, 11 March 2007 (CDT)

Re: Redirects[edit]

Yeah...sorry about all that. I just figured out how to create re-directs without the whole "copy-and-paste" thing.--Wittj 18:22, 19 March 2007 (CDT)

No problem. Anyway, did you know that there is a quick link for redirects in the large white box underneath the save page/preview bar (it is in the wiki markup section)? You can use that to create a redirect whenever you forget how it is typed out. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 18:37, 19 March 2007 (CDT)

Puzzle of the Week[edit]

I haven't seen a new puzzle posted lately, and I don't see one posted now. Why? Lunar Knight (Talk to me + Contribs) 21:27, 20 April 2007 (CDT)

Huh? I have one up right now... (try resetting your cache). It's at User:Ryan Schmidt#Puzzle. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 10:07, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

Reverting edits[edit]

Sorry, I was passing through Kimbruce's page, ( it's on my watchlist cuz I created it) and saw the reverts and wondered if you know about rollback, it removes all of that user's edits from the page (if they're in a row) and is good for quickly removing vandalism. Sorry if you already knew.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:14, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

I did already know about that, but which reverts are you talking about? I haven't reverted anything in quite a long time (not counting my js). --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 14:22, 21 April 2007 (CDT)
Oops sorry, I assumed because of the warning that "final cleanup (i hope)" meant removing vandalism. SOrry again.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:30, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

InvisiClues[edit]

I've given it a go and did the trick with the no. To make it work, put a

Thanks, but I'm going to try to see if I can make it work all of the time (without the br tag) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:24, 26 April 2007 (CDT)
If you want to test, I copied it across for my own go, see here, all of the templates are there but a few links still point to the template, it'll save a few reverts.RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:44, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

IRC[edit]

I haven't got a client yet, sorry and the link gives an error. BTW, I think the reason that you can't use NUMBEROFARTICLES is because it won't work with cats.RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:13, 28 April 2007 (CDT)

K, If you were referring to the guides at completion stage 4, PAGESINNS wouldn't work either, because it totals up all the pages in a namespace, not a category. I could get it to work with StringFunctions, but it is highly unlikely that will get installed (it causes security issues). Therefore, it will just have to be updated by hand (it won't be that much of a hassle). --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 16:24, 28 April 2007 (CDT)
I'm not sure, check this code: {{ns:14}} = Category, does this mean that there are loads of namespaces or what?RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:44, 28 April 2007 (CDT)
P.S, check out this, I just found this. I think Strategywiki's is hereRockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:49, 28 April 2007 (CDT)

Re: Inquiry[edit]

Could you enable $wgAllowSlowParserFunctions? It would allow the main page to have an accurate (and automated) count of guides at completion stage 4 (see staff lounge and my talk page for reason/discussion). --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 19:08, 28 April 2007 (CDT)

I wish I could, but I don't have server access. You'll have to talk to Dan or DrBob. GarrettTalk 19:56, 28 April 2007 (CDT)
OK, I thought that all Bureaucrats (on SW at least) had server access, my mistake --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 20:47, 28 April 2007 (CDT)
