Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Svrangerchrista! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or ask a sysop, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the staff lounge as well. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Please remember to sign your name when leaving comments on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! — Procyon 01:05, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

FFX questions[edit]

  1. You may use content from another website, but if and only if their license is compatible with ours (CC-BY-SA 3.0). I believe most or all of Wikia is covered by that license. If content is not convered by that license, you must get the author's permission to release content under our license, which effectively puts that content in the public domain. We're not allowed to do that without permission.
  2. About 90% of our front pages are nearly identical copies of the introductory information found on the Wikipedia page for the same game. So really, our Final Fantasy X front page should resemble the top of wp:Final Fantasy X, it's just that no one has bothered to copy the content over yet. In particular, the stub in that page is about the story. A basic summary of the plot should be provided in that space.
  3. Video walkthroughs are not hosted by StrategyWiki, but you are free to insert them into a guide using the {{YouTube}} template. There's also a way to embed DailyMotion videos as well, I just don't remember it off the top of my head.

Feel free to respond here on your own talk page, I'll see the update. Procyon 18:59, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Pre-load buttons[edit]

The pre-load buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the pre-load buttons located above the edit text box (e.g. click on "Guide page" to add {{Header Nav}} to the top and {{Footer Nav}} to the bottom), which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. These templates are very handy because they include the templates that are required for each page type. If you are unsure about how to use them, or what pages to use them on, please let me know. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — Procyon 18:59, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. [[Category:Game Name images]]. Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — Procyon 18:59, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Also, for all achievements, regardless of what system they're on, please use [[Category:Achievement images]]. Quite often, it's the same image across multiple systems, so there's no need to segregate Xbox One achievements from other systems. Thanks. Procyon 19:19, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Questions[edit]

Wondering when sourcing an image if it's best to use the jpg address online directly to the image, or the page where the image was found on? Thanks. Svrangerchrista (talk) 04:39, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

I accidentally used the plural form of "achievements" on several of the photos I uploaded. I don't know how to change the image title or I would do it myself, but all the images are located in the sandbox article I'm working on and they are all towards the bottom. Luckily I caught myself early, and will now rectify my mistake in future image titles. Anyways, just thought you should know. Svrangerchrista (talk) 06:21, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

And I've made another stupid mistake. The game title I've been using is wrong. I've been putting in "Arkham City" when it was supposed to be "Arkham Knight". I'm so sorry!!! Basically, I have to change every image name that I've done so far. Is that possible? Should I delete them all and start over?!Svrangerchrista (talk) 17:54, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Stop what you're doing and wait for further comment[edit]

Please slow down, you're making a lot of mistakes that need to be cleaned up.

  1. First, there's no need to mock an entire page up in the sandbox, only to have that entire page be moved over to the correct location. That's not what the sandbox is for. The sandbox is mostly just for experimenting with formats and trying things out, not building a page.
  2. Please use the Show Preview button, and do not save the page until you are entirely sure it is finished, or if you need to take a break and don't want to lose your progress. You made over 20 edits to the Sandbox in small increments, and every single one of those needs to be patrolled by an admin. It would be much easier for you and everyone if you made large edits all at once, and only saved when you were done. Don't save the page just to see how it looks, use Show Preview.
  3. Don't use ref tags in your upload descriptions, there's no need. If you want to site where the source of the image is from, do so in the description as plain text.
  4. I will fix the titles. Once again, slow down. Think before you act. Just focus on edit quality, not edit quantity. Procyon 00:22, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I thought it would be easier to do it that way. Svrangerchrista (talk) 00:26, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

It's good, everything is all fixed up. Please edit Batman: Arkham Knight/Achievements and trophies directly. Do not add the Header Nav to other pages such a your own user page. I'm going to blank out your sandbox page as well, you don't need it. Work on the page directly. Procyon 01:00, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Hey, I'm wondering when added the DLC achievements how that would work in the table... also the PS4 trophies. Thanks Svrangerchrista (talk) 23:33, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Start looking around the site for other guides that have tackled and solved this problem already. For example:Call of Duty/Achievements and trophies. DLC achievements can be under their own heading, as can PlayStation trophies. Procyon 23:44, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Page maybe completed?[edit]

So yeah I think it might be finished, need a fresh set of eyes. Svrangerchrista (talk) 23:17, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

Admins and other users who are helping with a guide will always review your changes, and make any corrections if necessary. Congrats on finishing the page. Procyon 23:57, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
I started a page for Halo 5: Guardians (another achievement page) and I meant to link it to the appendices, but I forgot, and now I can't find the page. Svrangerchrista (talk) 02:50, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
A couple of things. First, you can always see which pages you edited by reviewing your contributions. There's always a link to your contributions at the very top of the page. Second, as mentioned above, please use the pre-load buttons located above the edit text box whenever you start a new page. In this particular case, you should use the Guide page button in order to make sure that the Header Nav and Footer Nav templates get added correctly. I've gone ahead and added them for you. And I've gone ahead and updated the Table of Contents for Halo 5: Guardians to include your achievements page. Procyon 03:07, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
I was on the discord chat when I made that page, and if I remember correctly I did what they told me to do. Svrangerchrista (talk) 04:05, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
There is something wrong with the category for this image: https://strategywiki.org/wiki/File:Halo_5_Guardians_achievement_Warlord.jpg
