Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Vectrex! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or ask a sysop, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Please remember to sign your name when leaving comments on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! — Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:55, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

New pages[edit]

I replied to you at StrategyWiki:Staff_lounge#Game_Page_Creation. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:00, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Preload buttons[edit]

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box (e.g. click on "Guide page" to add {{Header Nav}} to the top and {{Footer Nav}} to the bottom), which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. These templates are very handy because they include the templates that are required for each page type. If you are unsure about how to use them, or what pages to use them on, please let me know. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:00, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Game Page Creation[edit]

If you want to create a new page, you can just enter the name of what you want the page to be in the URL (for example, if you want to create a page on the 3ds game, it would be "strategywiki.org/wiki/Page name), and if the page doesn't exist already, you should be given an option to create a new page for it. Make sure that it is actually information that relates to the game though. --PirateIzzy (talk) 02:00, 29 January 2014 (UTC) Edit: I see NMH already answered. Hope this also helped though.

Doh... NMH and PirateIzzy beat me to it. Hi Vectrex (love the nickname btw, I still have my Vectrex), thanks for asking about how to start a guide. You can start a guide a couple of ways. One is by searching for the name of the game in the search bar up above. Assuming it's a game that we don't currently cover, it will say "Create the page 'NAME OF GAME' on this wiki!" then you just click on the red link where the name of the game is, and then click on the "Main Game Page" preset button above the edit box that appears. That preset button will fill in all of the minimum required stuff for the page. The other way to go about it is to take the URL of a game that exists, (e.g. http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Bros.) and then replace the "Super_Mario_Bros." part with the name of the game you're interested in writing about (using the "_" underscore in place of spaces). From there you click "edit this page," and follow the preset button instructions above. That should get you started. Let me know if you have any other problems. Procyon 02:02, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the help, and wow! You are the first person to figure out where my nickname comes from! Anyway, I'm trying to Create a page for sonic lost world, but it's on two systems, and both Versions are diffrent form each other. How would I layout the page? --Vectrex (talk) 02:10, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
Wow, that's a pickle. Normally we give the plain title to whichever version came out first, and then differentiate the later one with some signifier. But it looks like both versions were released at the same time with the same title. Therefore, we kind of have to be arbitrary about who gets the title and who gets the signifier. Simply because the Wii U is a console and the 3DS is a handheld, I guess we should give the title to the Wii U, and the signifier to the 3DS. I'll create the pages for you and link you too them when they are done. Procyon 02:33, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
OK, I created Sonic Lost World and Sonic Lost World (Nintendo 3DS). It looks like whoever was maintaining the Sonic series template already came to the same conclusion as I did. So the pages are created, and I filled in most of the infobox for you. The only thing that's really missing from those pages are box artwork and a general description of the game. From there, you'll also want to start a new Table of Contents for the game (just click the Table of Contents link, and use the Table of Contents preload button to get a basic TOC started), and you should be good to go. Let us know if you have anymore questions, and don't forget to check out our StrategyWiki:Guide. Procyon 02:47, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
P.S. We could always use more guides for Vectrex games ;)
