Problem with Templates[edit]

I wanted to make a new template but i have no idea how to insert it into the page o_0. It would look like it:

Location:
{}.

Client:
{}, {}.

Reward:
{}
Usage:

 1. Location
 2. Client
 3. Clients location
 4. Reward

Can anyone explain me how to insert it?

What name do you want the template to be?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:04, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
FFXII/Hunts would be good.Vigilium 12:09, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
It's <removed>. It didn't need any editing apart from totake the noinclude from the very top. Great work--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:13, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
Oh and to put it in type --RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:14, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
Thanks. You helped me a lot. But I still do not know how did you make it work. When I tried to implement it to strategywiki i totally messed the templates page -_-*. I did not find anything about it in help page.Vigilium 12:19, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
You have to put it in the template namespace, so type Template:whatever click the link, put it in that, save it, and test it out by putting template name on a page, a | then a word will put that as an optional parameter, separate all of them with |, more help can be found here.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:27, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Unless it's something extremely complicated, I'd recommend not bothering with templates. It just makes things more complicated for something like this. If you aren't going to make this much more complicated, I'd recommend you just put the markup directly in the page. I'm going to mark it for deletion with a link to this discussion and we can decide what to do with it then. -- Prod (Talk) 20:22, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

It might be better to use a table for that page actually. How much more info are you going to be adding to it? -- Prod (Talk) 12:07, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
There are 44 Bosses in Mark Hunts so it will be 8 bosses more to add.Vigilium 12:17, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
But, will you be adding more information about each boss itself? Btw, I'm on irc if you want to discuss. (type /j #strategywiki to join our channel). -- Prod (Talk) 12:23, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
I add information if it is needed to find a boss [like special conditions]. It would be nice to write strategies for a couple of bosses, but I already fought them a long time ago, and am not able to do so.Vigilium 12:38, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm going to try and redo the page in table form. When I'm done, tell me what you think. -- Prod (Talk) 12:53, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
Ok, it's done. What do you think? -- Prod (Talk) 13:05, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
It looks nice. Thanks for help. I am still learning how this site works -_-.Vigilium 03:01, 8 July 2007 (CDT)
Feel free to ask if you need any help, that's what we're here for :). -- Prod (Talk) 10:03, 8 July 2007 (CDT)

Sun Crest[edit]

You were walking up and down the broken stairs in Yunalesca's area right (that warp you when you reach the top)? I didn't put the name Yunalesca in because it's a bit of a spolier, but I will try to make this clearer. Jofunu6

Yes, that warped me and I have no idea why there was no chest. And when I left the place there was a couple of cut scenes. I came back just after and Dark Bahamut was already there. I did not kill it till today -_-*. I am working on breaking max HP limit.Vigilium 06:44, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
The chest probably did appear, but it does blend in with the background rather well. I would say a good way to get rid of Dark Bahamut would be to use Zanmato with Yojimbo (you shouldn't need too much gil on the PAL version, but if you're running short kill mimics in omega ruins, and gillionaire always helps), otherwise it may be a very long time before you can defeat him (you will need attributes >180). Jofunu6
I do not think Zanmato works with Dark Aeons (I will check it; BTW: it does not need much gil). It would be too easy.Vigilium 06:44, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
Zanmato definitely does work on all enemies, and if I remember correctly you will need a couple of hundred thousand for it to execute on a dark aeon (each enemy has a resistance level to Zanmato, most are level 1, but the dark aeons are either level 5 or 6 like the monster arena creations and require a lot more gil. This also depends somewhat upon the option you chose when you obtain Yojimbo). Also, I checked in detail about the chest, and you have to run down the stairs and it will appear at the top of the stairs going up. Jofunu6
If so, why square did it this way? There is no fun in using Zanmato... Every boss can be killed this way? Even Penance?Vigilium 11:07, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
Even Penance. Generally it would be considered not doing the boss properly if you did it this way, but I find it's an acceptable technique in normal encounters, and when you make a mistake that requires a dark aeon to be beaten (I made these on my first play through, when I didn't defeat them anyway).Jofunu6 13:17, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Loot Recipes[edit]

Hey, I was intending for whole recipes included, with a table stating the item(s) recieved (eg, 'Tinctures and Tonics'), what the package contains, and the recipe. I was also considering adding the difference it costs to get things in the Bazaar and at the store. Does that answer your question adequately? :-P Happy editing!--Froglet 05:29, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Header Nav[edit]

Hi. In this diff, why did you change the Header Nav back to an All Game Nav? The "All Game Nav" template is deprecated in favour of Header Nav, because the name's more appropriate. --DrBob (Talk) 18:26, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

Oh sorry. I copied whole page before the change and was working with it on my pc in notepad. Then I just copied it into page.Vigilium 04:33, 13 July 2007 (CDT)
I thought it must be something like that. Watch out for that in future, and keep up the good work! :-) --DrBob (Talk) 06:50, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

Urban Warrior[edit]

Those are the exact prerequisite quest requirements from the data. "Featherweights" requires "New Leaf City Quiz - End" to start it, but Urban Warrior only requires Quiz 12. It may seem strange, but it's better if we just have it there. Also, in the future, when you leave a comment on someone's talk page, sign your statement with ~~~~. This lets me know who said it without having to check the edit history.--IsaacGS 15:13, 30 July 2007 (CDT)

Europe MapleStory[edit]

The main source which states eMS is getting the following:

1) Aqua Dungeon w/ Pianus for July Patch 2) Knights of Cygnus for August Patch 3) Leafre w/ 4th Job for September Patch

is Nexon Europe's Tespia Server. NexonEU has announced the release dates to their Content Testers a few days ago.

They have even released their test clients. Their lastest Tespia client is as follows: http://mod.nexoneu.com:8060/bugtrack/maplestory/maplestory_3rd.zip

EMST is currently testing Aqua Dungeon, but will further go on to test KoC and 4th Job. If you don't feel that this is enough evidence, we will wait further until NexonEU announces to the public the dates. However, rest assured, this is accurate information.

That information is probably currently classified. In this case, I am willing to leave the info unmentioned until they officially announce it. Thank you for your cooperation.--SlipNSlide 22:40, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Mirai no Toukyou[edit]

Hi Vigilium, I was wondering what your thoughts were on referencing this expansion. I mean, the standard romanization would be Mirai no Tokyo, right? And since it has an English equivalent (Neo Tokyo), perhaps that should be used instead or in conjunction (such as including it within parentheses), since this is an English website (although both terms should be included on the appropriate article for disambiguation purposes and completion's sake). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:01, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Neo Tokyo, Future Tokyo, whatever. Just put something in English. Also, I like how you translated Japanese into "intarface" =) --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:50, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
So what is your native language? Japanese? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:45, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. . The image policy is viewable here, and contains all the information you'll need to categorise future uploads. --najzereT 16:53, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Please make sure all appropriate categories are added to your uploads. NPC images should also be in Category:Sprites and Category:Characters. Thanks, — najzereT 15:51, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
Take a look at Category:MapleStory images to see a list of all the image subcategories used on the MS guide. I changed your latest batch of item images from Category:MapleStory icon images to Category:MapleStory item images. Thanks, — najzereT 20:38, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Another note on image categories; remember to put the guide-specific category as well, e.g. Soulcalibur II images. — najzereT 16:33, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Monster names[edit]

Since you're able to translate Japanese, why don't you provide the Japanese name with a romanization and put it in the info part of the monster's listing? You can use nihongo. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 00:28, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I forgot about the question you asked. You said you would do this, but wanted to know what romanization system StrategyWiki used. I haven't gotten around to figuring out which one we should use. Can you help? If you know of a few systems, could you list them here so I can read more about them? I started compiling information about this subject at StrategyWiki:Guide/Languages, but the page doesn't really mean anything yet (unofficial). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:21, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Consolidate your edits[edit]

Hi, thanks for your contributions. Please use full page editing and the preview button to help reduce the amount of edits to the pages you're working on. You can edit the entire page by clicking the "Edit" tab at the top of the page. Take your time to work out all of the changes you are going to make before submitting. Multiple minor edits makes it harder to use a page's history, and an administrator has to patrol every one of them. Thanks, — najzereT 11:22, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Neo Tokyo TMS[edit]

If you open the link and actually get the flash video to load (it took me about 10 refreshes to finally work in Firefox), you'll see that the TMS website not only has animated sprites of enemies and bosses from the expansion, but additional info as well (although I can't read the language). The inclusion of these sprites is proof enough. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 08:38, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

You're wrong, the enemies shown are from the expansion as well as those that you listed. There's Prototype Lord, Afterlord, Overlord, Maverick Type ν, Bergamot 1, and Nibelung 1. Those are all Neo Tokyo monsters and bosses. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 21:05, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Aha! I wasn't aware of the Shibuya & Roppongi Mall expansion. Excuse me, we can definitely remove that from being "Soon" for TMS. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:08, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Future Tokyo and TMS[edit]

I am aware of that, it's Mandarin Chinese. But is HKMS showing any sign of getting Neo Tokyo? -No.

OK, I won't undo your actions in World Tour anymore, we'll see on the 26th of this month. --Spadow 22:36, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

MapleStory/NPC[edit]

Hey Vigi, I saw that you added a bunch of Japanese names to the NPCs of the World Tour Japan area. Just to let you know, that parameter after the name (the one that makes text appear below the name) is supposed to be used for the titles that they sometimes give NPCs (see MapleStory/Towns/Henesys#NPCs). When adding alternate names (what if someone adds the Korean one?) just put it in the "Notes" column. Thanks for all your help! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 06:47, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Also, whenever you add a new NPC, please also add them to their correct region on the MapleStory/NPCs list. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 06:49, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
My plan is to have the NPCs listed on the town pages where they appear. When I started doing this, I realized there were some NPCs that appear in multiple towns (see MapleStory/NPCs#NPCs_that_appear_in_multiple_towns) and some NPCs that don't even appear in a town (see MapleStory/NPCs#Victoria_Island).
 • If the NPC only appears in one town, then it should have a entry on the town page and a hyperlink on the NPCs list.
 • If the NPC appears in multiple towns, then it should have a entry on the NPCs list under the "NPCs that appear in multiple towns" section and a hyperlink pointing to the NPC list entry from every town that it appears in (see Cassandra, Maple Admin, etc.).
 • If the NPC does not appear inside of a town, it should have a entry on the NPCs list under the region it appears in. However - some regions are noted on Town pages (like Japan/Zipangu). If a region has an NPC heading, the NPC should be considered as appearing in one town. For example, Ponicharu of Neo Tokyo appears in multiple locations, but all of them are within Neo Tokyo. As such, he appears on the Neo Tokyo page, with all of his locations listed. On the NPC list, Ponicharu will only be listed under Neo Tokyo, because we don't separate NPCs based on individual maps, only regions.
 • If the NPC is a special event NPC, they should be listed with on MapleStory/NPCs#Event_NPCs. If necessary, such information can reside on MapleStory/Quests/Special Events as I have done for Find Master M. Wherever the entry resides, there should be links point to it from MapleStory/NPCs as well as the town pages where the NPC appears.
Thank you for your help! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 07:50, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

When you get a chance, you might want to help update the town checklist. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 03:57, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

When adding items, for instance as you did here, please add information about the NPC as well (or link them plz). We don't have a Catherine on the list yet, so I can't confirm she exists (in GMS or any other version). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 07:13, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

I forgot to add, if you're adding any non-GMS information, please make sure it is explicitly stated. If Catherine and the Pachinko Parlor are not available in GMS, please add that information as well. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 09:58, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for clearing that up! Also, do you use an image extractor, because you are really fast! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 10:39, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

When adding images to a page, we no longer use the following syntax: . Instead, we now use (this was available after one of the last couple of MediaWiki updates): . Thanks, --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 07:18, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi Vigi, I see that you removed File:MS Tai Karai Kinyuu Tokusou Han.png from MapleStory/Beginner Guide/Equipment, however it doesn't look like you added the information to MapleStory/Medals. The description was "対火狸金融特捜班" and the bonus is Speed +10 (according to the old table). If you could add/translate it, I would be very appreciative! Thanks, --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:08, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

When adding items to NPCs, don't be afraid to link to items that don't have pages yet (red links are ok!). Thanks, --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:01, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Edit conflicts[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to verify the changes made by SlipNSlide to the MapleStory templates. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:36, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Equipment data integration[edit]

Hey Vigi, before you remove data from the equipment pages, make sure that it resides on the individual equipment pages. I'm responding to this edit you made. It makes sense that the info should be removed from the page, but there are some details that are missing from the new equipment pages. For example, the first entry that was removed, Wooden Staff, displays the accurate range of Weapon Attack that the weapon can have. However if you go to the staves page, you'll notice that the range is not there. Obviously, the current page is not 100% correct. So, can you please refrain from removing information until you make sure the new page has all of the correct info? Also, the weapon attack for wooden staff is listed as 20 because of Hidden Street (I think they take the average of the range to find this value). We don't need the average value. Just display the range. Thanks! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:36, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Beer tent[edit]

Hi, you recently removed this image from the MapleStory/Towns/Beer Tent page. Can I get rid of it? Thanks, — najzereT 17:44, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Crimsonwood[edit]

With the Crimsonwood keep page, do you reckon we should create a new page for JMS? It's very different from GMS. --Jezza 23:04, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

I would start by creating a new section on the Crimsonwood Keep page. If the content becomes excessive, then it will merit its own page by StrategyWiki's standards. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:38, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

The new KMST change[edit]

well, i have'nt thought about it so i think it will be good even though when it is separated it easy to edit if some version dont get it —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xdivinex (talkcontribs) .

Ignorance[edit]

Hey there,

I'm sorry for the late reply, because I had to wait because you wanted to see official proof. Well, here it is.

Yes, you were ignorant because I was right after all. This class comes out on December 20th for GMS. And the reason I put December was because this was proven by data. It does mean that the content will be added in December and it does mean that people are going to believe that because people posted extractions on several community boards and showed the evidence.--Spadow 15:52, 15 December 2010 (CST)

Data is not a rumour. This has been proved with the Resistance date of launch. I don't rely on rumours, only on facts. You're free to revert my editions if you want, but I will undo all of them, unless it's false or inaccurate info.--Spadow 20:15, 15 December 2010 (CST)

Big Bang Guide[edit]

There were a lot of new pages created under the Big Bang Guide section which were being put together in preparation for when the big bang update was released. That was released in global right? Are all those pages being merged into the main guides now, or are we still waiting for SEA to get all the updates? -- Prod (Talk) 12:38, 11 January 2011 (CST)

Do you know who else is still active on the MS guide? -- Prod (Talk) 19:11, 11 January 2011 (CST)
Looks like MSEA is getting Big Bang soon (next patch supposedly), but EMS seems a long way off. I would have preferred to wait, but I think it's better to just throw a template at the top saying "This is updated for Big Bang, here's a link to an old version of the page" until they get it. I'll look into starting the merge over the next two weeks and deleting all the non big-bang information. -- Prod (Talk) 19:55, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
