Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Wanderer! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide. If you have a question about the content on this wiki, you can check out our staff lounge page. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the community portal talk page. Please remember to sign your name on, and only on, talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Mega Man Zero 2 forms[edit]

I see you restored the "stars" on Mega Man Zero 2/Forms. I've reverted it back to the version with the progress bars, as the "stars" don't work, and unless there's a compelling reason why stars should be used over progress bars (for example, the stars might have some deep meaning in the game — I don't know), I would ask you to not revert back. Using progress bars is cleaner than "stars". Leave a message on my talk page if you have any thoughts. --DrBob (talk) 06:51, 2 December 2007 (CST)

Tests[edit]

I noticed your tests on the Super Smash Bros. Brawl/Move Lists/Link page. Please try to use the StrategyWiki:Sandbox for any tests. If someone happens to visit the page while you are doing tests, they may not get the content they are expecting. Also, using the "Show Preview" button will allow you to see what the page would look like, without affecting the "live" version of the page. Finally, if you need any templating help, leave me a message with the problem you're having. Happy editing! :) -- Prod (Talk) 19:49, 9 February 2008 (CST)

Is the problem that the bottom templates don't show up properly (just links to the template rather than actually doing the replace)? If yes, than I'm already aware of the problem and it's on my todo list to fix. I may get around to it in a about a week or so (hopefully sooner though). If you want to try and fix it, the problem is that the template is far too long.
Of course, if it's a different problem, let me know what it is and I'll look into it sooner. -- Prod (Talk) 00:56, 10 February 2008 (CST)
I think the templates are working properly now. I checked some that seemed to be the biggest offenders, and they're working properly now. Let me know if you have any further problems. -- Prod (Talk) 13:59, 28 February 2008 (CST)

Smash Bros moves template[edit]

Hi Wanderer. I noticed the work you've been doing on the moves template. While I agree that it's a great idea, you've got to try to reduce the complexity of it substantially. I understand precisely what you're trying to do, but you're running up against hard limits of the template functionality, and it's becoming very impractical as the number of inputs you try to express increases. While I admire your determination to make the template extremely easy to use, I think you may have to aim a little lower, and accept the fact that authors may have to deal with a little more typing and copy/pasting. Believe me, as the guy who did the majority of the Capcom fighting game move lists, I know what it's like. A little extra typing won't hurt anyone.  :) Anyway, Prod mentioned that he would like to help you out. He was integral to the fighting game reorganization project, and I'm sure that you will find his help invaluable as well. Take care. Procyon (Talk) 22:11, 14 February 2008 (CST)

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune/Trophies[edit]

Why do you think it's necessary that we start adding categories to subpages? I think it seems a bit pointless, as I doubt someone is going to search a certain category for something such as trophies or anything else for that matter. If people want to find trophies for a certain game: they can use the table of contents. RobJ1981 01:53, 23 August 2008 (CDT)

Mario Kart Wii controls.[edit]

I know your good reason for keeping the controls. But I have a good feeling you haven't even tried out the controls. I have a few questions. Do you own a Mario Kart Wii? If you do, have you tried out the controls? You want to retain the table, than prove to me that you tried out the controls. I did a thorough check and there's no mistake. Johnnyauau2000 07:25, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

  • Also you should never jump to conclusions. I do still find it hard to distinguish between the Wheel+Remote and Remote+Nunchuk. Johnnyauau2000 07:38, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Lastly, why don't you prove to me you can smash down the platform on the Super Smash Bros Brawl. Johnnyauau2000 07:53, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
  • Yes I do in fact own Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii and I do play those games a lot. I know too well that maybe you're right about it but I do like to keep it simple. I don't want to dispute over a table on Mario Kart Wii about using the A,B buttons and 1,2 buttons. Same with the Super Smash Bros Brawl about smashing down the platform. I mean you have to slam down the control stick or dpad down. You should understand what I'm saying. So anyway, you win on this one but I wish there's a better way of doing this. By the way, I go by playing the game and I only use the instructions manual whenever I have trouble with the games. Johnnyauau2000 00:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Move lists pages[edit]

Hey, I changed the moves list setup you had on the MK vs. DC guide. The actual moves list should go on a page directly subpaged from the main guide, and then it gets transcluded onto the main moves list page along with all the other characters, and onto the character page. So the page you made goes at Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe/Superman, then gets transcluded onto Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe/Characters/Superman and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe/Moves. On the actual moves list page (the one you made) the Header Nav gets <noinclude> tags, and there is no Footer Nav or category. On the character page, it gets a Footer Nav and the Character move lists category. Here are the two pages so you can see: moves page and character page.

By the way, do you have any interest in becoming a Rollbacker? If so, I'd like to nominate you, since you do a lot of cleanup and your edits are always top notch. I'll be watching your talk page, if you want to respond here. Thanks, - najzereT 05:15, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Sure, okay. Why not. Wanderer 01:24, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Rollback[edit]

You have been nominated for rollback permissions. Please accept or decline the nomination on that page. -- Prod (Talk) 06:08, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

You now have rollback privileges. Please see this section for how to use them effectively. Let me know on my talk page if you have any additional questions. --Skizzerz 02:43, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

FF7 slots images[edit]

Can you get images that aren't cut off? Also, we should resize them in an image editor before uploading so they don't look all stretched by the template. — najzereT 23:11, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Controls tables[edit]

Hi, please use the standard controls table formatting when making these tables. That is, header cells for control images and regular cells for the accompanying text actions in a normal table with just the {{prettytable}} template for styling. Thanks, — najzereT 21:44, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Unless our guideline changes, please use our standard controls table format found in the user guide. Thanks, — najzereT 21:39, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Command List[edit]

Thanks for fixing that, I'm not a fan of php errors :). -- Prod (Talk) 04:48, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Dissidia[edit]

Can you point me to the appropriate diff? Shouldn't be a problem. -- Prod (Talk) 04:26, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

OK, I'll take care of it likely tomorrow :). -- Prod (Talk) 04:57, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Done. Let me know if there are any issues. I left a bunch of extra line breaks, and I didn't use the Move Footer (I don't really see the point of it). -- Prod (Talk) 08:16, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Soulcalibur[edit]

Thanks for your help with the clean up. It's appreciated. Procyon 21:58, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Circle Pad Pro controls for {{3ds}}?[edit]

I noticed {{3ds}} is lacking the extra controls added by the upcoming Circle Pad Pro add-on. Will you be adding these at some point? Anyway, thanks for your great work on these buttons. :) Garrett (talk) 08:11, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

I might do that later. I'm wondering how to distinguish the images for the second Circle Pad — should it just have a black back part and an 'R' on it? What should the syntax be — {{3ds|Neutral|RCpad}}? {{3ds|Neutral|Rpad}}? {{3ds|Neutral|CpadPro}}? {{3ds|Neutral|Cpad2}}? Wanderer 18:43, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
Having a background colour as well as the letter is a good idea but a very dark grey would probably be better than an accurate black so it is still clearly recognisable as a circle pad. As for the name I guess cpadpro would make sense since it's an add-on rather than built in, and other add-ons like {{wii}}'s Nunchuk have been referred to by name. Garrett (talk) 23:06, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Alright, how's this? Wanderer 02:46, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
That looks great! All ready to go for the games that use it. Thanks for doing this. :) Garrett (talk) 07:43, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Kirby Super Star[edit]

Since you added multiplayer modes to the mainpage, I assume that these may be version specific. If so, can you elaborate a bit on the main page's description? Thanks, --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:15, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Mega Man X5 sequel[edit]

Hi Wanderer. I did't know there was an argument about the sequel of Mega Man X5. Can you tell me more about it, so that I'm informed and will avoid mistakes in future? Thanks! --Abacos (talk) 10:54, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

You're right, I know that the official sequel of Mega Man X 5 is Mega Man X 6. Still, Mega Man's original author Keiji "Inafking" Inafune had a different plan, as stated here with references, therefore it is an objective fact. Indeed, the "bad" ending of Mega Man X 5 fits perfectly the beginning of Mega Man Zero 1, too. I think that, without saying what is canon or not, a second line in the "sequel" tab could mention Mega Man Zero, maybe just between brackets, maybe with a footnote... :-) --Abacos (talk) 12:59, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
I think it would be just objective to mention the disagreement between Inafune and Capcom about the sequel of Mega Man X 5. The disagreement exists and is documented, as far as I know. Ignoring Inafune's opinion would mean taking one side in the discussion. Unless, of course, all about Inafune's opinion will be found to be a hoax, then I will apologize and humbly accept it :-) --Abacos (talk) 13:05, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

That's fine with me. Thanks for the explanations. Cheers :-) --Abacos (talk) 12:30, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Fire Emblem Awakening[edit]

I like the character template you made, but I think it's got a few too many parameters that make it look bulkier than it should be. I was thinking we could leave reclassing to the Second Seal page (if you've got a better name for it, let me know) and only include base stats/starting classes/starting levels and supports in the table (though if you want to leave stats to the classes page, I suppose that could work). I had something simpler in mind, akin to the Path of Radiance and Sacred Stones templates. Anything that can't fit in the template can just be put to the side. But if you want to leave it as is, that's fine too. The variety in the game makes putting anything together for it a headache. --WarioTalk 19:42, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Game Category[edit]

If you uploads a image for a game, then please add the Game Category too. Thank you. Paco (talk) 19:21, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Fighting games[edit]

I've changed the way fighting games are arranged a bit so it's cleaner and easier to maintain. It makes use of the {{Movelist}} template. Take a look at The Last Blade to see how it works. -- Prod (talk) 05:38, 30 September 2018 (UTC)

Ports, remasters, and re-releases[edit]

Can you please weigh in on StrategyWiki:Staff lounge#Ports, remasters, and re-releases? -- Prod (talk) 00:42, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Series Nav updated[edit]

I've been looking at this again the last few days. I'm starting to think the best option is to just have individual entries for each row.

{{Series Nav
...
|title1=Foo
|contents=* [[Bar]]
* [[Baz]]
}}

What are your thoughts? -- Prod (talk) 02:50, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

I want to have a separate parameter for |compilation. I checked {{Pokémon}} (7), {{The Legend of Zelda}} (6), {{Mario}} (7) and {{Final Fantasy}} (11) are some of the biggest we have. I think numbered from 1-9 should suffice, if we do some work on the FF template.
I haven't built any kind of demo yet, but it should be easy to work into {{Series Nav}} without breaking current usage. -- Prod (talk) 20:45, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
I've updated {{BattleTech}}. -- Prod (talk) 22:08, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Monster Hunter[edit]

I put it under Portable since wikipedia:Monster Hunter#Spinoffs, remasters, and expansions considers it a spinoff under the wikipedia:Template:Monster Hunter series. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the series so I'll leave the decision of where it goes to you. -- Prod (talk) 15:10, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Gameplay[edit]

I've added Gameplay links to the two ToCs you created, as they are linked from the ToCs on every page. Since they're essentially collections of mini-games, we probably need to consider a slightly modified structure. How about the gameplay page goes over menus and interfaces; the walkthrough can just be a stub; and the ToC has a section for "mini-games" or "sports" that covers all content for the relevant game. -- Prod (talk) 15:46, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
