Consolidating edits[edit]

Hi, please use the Edit tab at the top of the page and the Show preview button to make all your edits to a page in one go, instead of multiple smaller edits. This will keep the page's history cleaner and doesn't clog up recent changes. Thanks, - najzereT 18:23, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, but it's hard for me to see all the edits sometimes, especially when it's not just multiple inserts per page but multiple inserts per section. It was a one-time editing blitz, though to incorporate those ideas we were discussing, though, so it shouldn't happen again.—WhosAsking 02:44, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Preload buttons[edit]

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box, which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — Moydow T · C 13:30, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Already seen and recognized. I used them for the initial page and TOC. Game wiki is still WIP as I work to build appropriate pages. — WhosAsking 15:21, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay. You just forgot them for the guide page you wrote. Also, use level 2 headings (== ==) instead of top level headings (= =) in pages, as top level headings disrupt the flow and readability of the page. Moydow T · C 15:33, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Template:Bomberman Generation/Boss[edit]

You still need to use a neutral point of view when explaining how templates are used. Also, any templates created for use in only one guide all go in Category:Guide-specific templates. I noticed you were trying to use #ifeq to get it to change colours depending on the value of a certain parameter. Have you tried #switch? It takes the value of a parameter, and switches content depending on it. So, if you entered type=mini, it would switch the colour to green, and so on. Let me know if you need help using this. Moydow T · C 13:47, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

I was having trouble then. It was after five or so failed attempts that I went for the separate templates, but I think I've finally got it down. I'm resetting the first world page, and I can mark the other two for deletion. — WhosAsking 14:03, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. [[Category:Game Name images]]. Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:18, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Wow![edit]

The Crystalis guide looks amazing. I've never played the game before but you make me want to! You planning on getting it featured or something? --WarioTalk 21:48, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Large map positioning[edit]

Hi WhosAsking, have a look at this diff and see if you think it might benefit the layout of some of the other pages. BTW, you don't need to specify "float" since "left" or "right" implies "float". You use "float" by itself when you don't wish to specify whether the image should float to the left side or the right. Procyon 22:34, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Talk to Notmyhandle (talk · contribs). The layout is his idea, and it looks best in the "traditional" Wiki skins: Monobook and Vector. Yours is closer to what I had originally and would look better in the "modern" skins like Dolphin and Whale. I'm divided in opinion as to which layout should be preferred: especially since Dolphin is the default skin on SW. However, since any attempt to edit for Dolphin results in a revert to a Monobook-friendly skin, I've decided to use the Monobook layout for the time being. If I can find a way to make the layouts differ between "traditional" and "modern" skins, I'll put them in.—WhosAsking (talk) 22:42, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
I understand, I'll talk with NMH. Our goal is to support all skins, but to ultimately give preference to whatever the current default is since that's what a majority of our users use and see. Only power users use the older skins. Procyon 23:02, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
We have never had consensus on this topic, but to avoid further confusion, I am going to try and adapt to using Dolphin so that I can see things the way 99.9% of users are editing them. Sorry WhosAsking. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:31, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you[edit]

Thank you for all your hard work on Crystalis! It has really paid off. You transformed it into a very usable, visual, and easy to follow guide. It looks awesome. Congrats! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:41, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

I agree, it's very rare when a user makes me feel envious about the quality of a guide that I did not work on, or feel that there's very little that I could contribute to improve upon it. Congratulations, this guide may even be feature worthy. I'd vote for it. Procyon 00:16, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
Lol, now that I've said all those nice things, I'm going to nitpick ;) Lol, not really. These are just suggestions of things that I would do that you can try out or feel free to ignore.
  1. Since you put the Controls on their own page, there isn't much content on Getting Started besides the experience table, which is fine. Perhaps you could add a very short section on saving your game, and starting a new game vs. continuing from the title screen. Yeah, it's pretty self explanatory, but it would help fill out the page, and it's the little things...
  2. If it were possible to find a really cool piece of official SNK artwork, it would be nice to add as a splash image at the top of the Walkthrough page. Additionally, you could add a bullet-list high level over-view of the entire game which links to the appropriate pages where more information can be found.
  3. Center all of the maps and force the text below them so that you don't get those narrow corridors of text along the left side of the maps. As a bonus, that will actually standardize how the guides look across skins.
  4. Lastly, do a writing style check, and avoid any repetition of words wherever possible. For example, the first sentence of Crystalis/Brynmaer reads: When you emerge from the Sealed Cave, you will emerge in the vast Cordel Plains. The second "emerge" should probably be changed to "arrive" or "appear".
Again, these are just suggestions. Take 'em or leave 'em. Still, great job. Procyon 00:43, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
  1. I'll look into it. TBH I completely forgot Getting Started had its own page.
  2. I'll give it a try, particularly under the Japanese title of God Slayer. Japanese artwork tends to be more prevalent than American. Failing that, we could consider some fanart; as noted, the game has a bit of a cult following. UPDATE: As I think about it, the box arts can make for a good header graphic with some careful editing of extraneous details. I also intend to upload the US and Japanese title screens for the top page to show as a comparison.
  3. That was how I had them originally before that minor style spaff with NMH. I've made the Crystalis/Leaf page back the way I had it, with the legend and the Items to Obtain just under the maps to make them easy to read and then the text below. I'll proceed to redo all the other Walkthrough pages similarly.
  4. You missed the part where I corrected that already (NM, what happenes was that the edit I made there was reverted). Sometimes, I type this stuff in half a daze, but I usually go back on them several times afterwards in case I missed stuff.

  • Going back to the matter of artwork for the Walkthrough top page, a Deviant named jamsketchbook made a very nice wallpaper based on the Famicom box art Link here. If we could get permission and perhaps edit in the Japanese God Slayer logo for completeness, I think this would make an excellent header image. —WhosAsking (talk) 09:58, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
