Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Zienth! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide. If you have a question about the content on this wiki, you can check out our staff lounge page. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. Please remember to sign your name on, and only on, talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! -- najzereT 17:36, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Easier editing[edit]

The Show preview button (right next to the Save page button) lets you see how your changes will look before saving the page. You can use Show preview as many times as you like until you get the page how you want it. You can also edit the whole page at one time, as opposed to by section, by clicking the Edit tab at the top of the page. Hopefully these little shortcuts will make it easier for you to get the desired result when you're editing, and save you a little time. Thanks for working on the wiki! — Moydow (talk) 02:42, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Image uploads[edit]

Please see our policy on image naming and categorization. For consistency and ease of use throughout the wiki, image names should contain the name of the game or its abbreviation and a one or two word description. All images also need the appropriate categories added, as well as the guide-specific image category (e.g. [[Category:Game Name images]]). Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — Moydow (talk) 02:42, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi, can I ask you to look at the Policy on image categorisation? You uploaded some images for the MapleStory guide, which appeared to be icons, so I've added that category and Category:MapleStory skill images to the images. In future, can you please add the equivalent categories to any images you add? For example, a screenshot of a skill would go in Category:MapleStory skill images and Category:Screenshots. Thanks, Moydow (talk) 20:39, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Yet again, I find myself reminding you to please add a description and categories to any images you upload. You have been making very good edits everywhere else in the MapleStory guide. Don't be discouraged from continuing your great work there. I'm just telling you this to help you out in the long-term. But do try to follow the image policy as best you can. Thanks for understanding. Moydow T · C · Boxes 20:55, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Dual Blade skills[edit]

Instead of cluttering up Thief Skills, wouldn't it be a better idea to put Dual Blade skills in Dual Blade skills? -- Imjon 20:19, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

MapleStory work[edit]

Great job!
A little thank you…
For adding information, reverting vandalism and fixing misinformation on MapleStory pages.
Cheers, najzereT 20:49, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, great job on the MapleStory edits and fixes you've been doing! Keep up the great work! :D — najzereT 20:49, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Category system[edit]

The image categorisation system is used to keep all images for a certain game in one place, where anyone who needs them can find them. For example, if you needed an image for Super Mario 64, you would look in Category:Super Mario 64 images. On the other hand, if you want to upload an image from Super Mario 64, you would type [[Category:Super Mario 64 images]] into the description box. But, you must also use a category that sorts by type of image. For example, the icons you uploaded for MapleStory go into Category:Icons. A screenshot goes into Category:Screenshots, characters in Category:Characters, and so on. The Image policy page has a list of these types of categories. (Category:Guide-specific images isn't used on images, so leave that one out.) Basically, when uploading an image, it needs at least two categories: the game category and the main image category. If you need help, just ask. Thanks, Moydow T · C · Boxes 15:36, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, you're starting to learn how the categories work. But just one thing: to place an image in a category, put the name of the category between two square brackets. Copy this into the description box (but not from this page's edit box): [[Category:MapleStory skill images]]
Also, you don't have to re-upload the image to fix a wrong category. Just click the 'Edit' tab at the top of the screen to edit it like a guide page. Another category is also required: for an icon, like you're uploading, put in the following: [[Category:Icons]]
I've fixed the last few you uploaded. Look at the edit box on one of those pages to see what I did. Let me know if you need any help! :) Moydow T · C · Boxes 21:53, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Good, I'm finally getting somewhere with these categories.. anyways, thanks for catching my back with these. Still kind of confused a little bit when it comes to what category applies to an image. What happened with triple blow was simply trial an error. I managed to figure it out eventually though. Also when adding the categories, does the bar on the bottom of the image screen appear automatically after a few minutes or is it something I'm doing wrong? User:Zienth
No problem, glad to help. The last few images you've uploaded have been done perfectly. There are a few categories used alongside the game category, used to separate images into types. Icons go in Category:Icons, screenshots in Category:Screenshots, boxart in Category:Box artwork, character art in Category:Characters, and items in Category:Items. Images that can't be sorted go in Category:Artwork. Those are the main ones. The bar at the bottom of the screen (Categories:...) appears if categories have been added correctly. Blue links if a category exists, red if it doesn't. On an unrelated topic: when signing your name, use four tildes (~~~~) to automatically create a link to your userpage, and a timestamp. Moydow T · C · Boxes 22:21, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Remember that on pages that you want to categorize, omit the colon that precedes the word "Category." If you don't, it just makes a link to the category. The differences are as follows:
  • [[:Category:MapleStory images]] (a plain link to the category; disabled here to display the code)
  • [[Category:MapleStory images]] (this categorizes a page; it does not create a link; it is disabled here to display the code)

No more undoing Spadow's translations[edit]

Zienth, please refrain from rolling back Spadow's translations. I don't care what web translation engine you are pumping the Korean through, Spadow is a native speaker of Korean, and therefore is more qualified to provide translations than you are. If I see you reverting his translations again, you will face a ban for a short period of time. If you strongly object to Spadow's translations, please provide proof of why you think your translations are more accurate than his before reverting them. Thank you. Do NOT change any of the skill or monster pages until this update goes live in KMS. -- Imjon 03:37, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that part is fine. I meant how you added the new level range on the ToT page. And sorry if I sounded angry in what I just said^. :) -- Imjon 03:40, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
While it would be a great idea to get started on it now, I think we should wait until it's in the real server. Everything in 1.2.318 is subject to change. But, if it does go through, I honestly have no idea how to make it all fit. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. -- Imjon 03:48, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

The charts on that page are shown by what is called a transclusion: if you want to edit them, you need to go to another page, the title of which is inside the curly brackets { } (make sure to put Template: before the title if you search for it. For example, to edit the Jobs chart, you need to go to Template:MapleStory/Versions/Jobs and edit it there. Let me know if you get stuck. Moydow T · C 22:36, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry. I'm afraid I don't know enough about MapleStory to be able to make a decision about this. I would imagine that it would be okay as long as it doesn't look out of place. But you should probably ask someone who knows more about this to be sure you're doing the right thing. Moydow T · C 23:24, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

so thats how u properly message someone... :)

MapleStory Big Bang[edit]

I've seen you doing some of the updates to the MapleStory pages for big bang, and I'm looking for someone to work with to properly merge in/clean up all the info. Are you on IM client? Can you email me with your details (if you're willing) so that we can tag team this? Otherwise we can just meet on IRC. -- Prod (Talk) 06:33, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

It can be reached from Special:WebChat. -- Prod (Talk) 19:45, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

I've redone the MapleStory/Formulas page. I'll probably add some info about criticals and mastery skills tomorrow. However, I mostly made up what's in the Experience section. Do you know any of the specifics? Can you confirm/deny anything there? I'll try to do some confirmation this week on party exp received, but won't be able to check LHC for a while. -- Prod (Talk) 08:51, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Also, have you finished merging MapleStory/Big Bang/Skills into the guide? I'd like to delete that page, and move all the chaos pages to sub-pages of MapleStory/Chaos/, since they're no longer relevant to big bang. -- Prod (Talk) 08:55, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
There are the following pages:
Which can be deleted, which need to be moved, and which still need to be merged into the current guide? -- Prod (Talk) 19:15, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Can MapleStory/Big Bang/Skills be deleted? Looks like it was an earlier dump before you subpaged. Is any of the information in MapleStory/Big Bang/Locations worth merging into the main guide? -- Prod (Talk) 06:51, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

MapleStory Jobs ToC[edit]

Just saw your changes to the Jobs header ToC section, and I'm not sure it works out too well on most pages. The mini-headers are supposed to just be a supplement to help speed things up a bit, not take up that much of the screen (which is why most of it is hidden away). I am on IRC if you would like to discuss it. -- Prod (Talk) 17:59, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
