Stunned Wario[edit]

The basic reaction to getting hit. You lose health and coins (the amount of coins lost depends on how much you currently have) and can't control Wario for a moment. Once that moment ends, you'll be invincible for a brief moment, and if you're quick, you can regain your money... as long as it didn't fall down a pit or into lava.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: Not usually.
  • Can water cure it?: No.
  • What enemies can cause it?: Most of them.

Bouncy Wario[edit]

When hit on the head by a hammer, Wario's legs curl into a spring and he can then SHOOT up through breakable blocks that aren't hard. When hitting the ceiling or a block he can't break, he'll bounce off and return to normal.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: not this time.
  • Can water cure it?: Yes.
  • What enemies can cause it?: Only Malletapes, though at the end of the game, you can induce it to yourself using a throw-able hammer.

Bubble Wario[edit]

Wario gets encased in an underwater bubble and floats up helplessly... but you can have him lean to the left or right, and while in the bubble, Wario is unaffected by currents.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: Nope, underwater.
  • Can water cure it?: You're underwater.
  • What enemies cause it?: None, it's caused by touching air bubbles underwater.

Fat Wario[edit]

Wario eats one piece of food too much and gets massively fat. He can't move very fast and his jumps get smaller, but he can break hard breakable blocks underfoot without having to get enough height to do a strong ground pound on them; just by jumping on them.
To change back, Wario needs exercise; after jumping and walking enough, he'll return to his normal weight class.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: You could in Wario Land 3... but not this one!
  • Can water cure it?: Yes.
  • What enemies can cause it?: Only Apple Apes.

Flat Wario[edit]

Wario gets squashed flat and moves slower, but he can float down like a piece of paper. Enter an "unflattening machine" to return to normal.
Also, you can go over gaps in crawlspaces when flat.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: No.
  • Can water cure it?: Yes, but you never really get the chance to find any.
  • What enemies can cause it?: None of them; Only pistons in The Curious Factory will ever flatten you.

Hot Wario[edit]

Wario's overalls catch fire and he runs around uncontrollably. You can still make him jump, though. When he bumps into a wall, the fire spreads, and after bumping into four walls, he'll become completely engulfed in flames and can be inched along using the d-pad. (In this state, Wario can break through "hot blocks", which are large blocks with pictures of flames on them.) After a little while, Wario will break out of the soot when the fire dies down.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: lol, no.
  • Can water cure it?: Obviously.
  • What enemies can cause it?: Walking Torches and Aerodent.

Puffy Wario[edit]

When stung, Wario has an allergic reaction and swells up, floating skyward. You can press B to float higher and left and right to steer Wario. If he hits the ceiling, he'll exhale the air and fall.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: only from a Beezely.
  • Can water cure it?: No.
  • What enemies can cause it?: Archers and Beezelies.

Vampire Bat Wario[edit]

When bitten by a bat, Wario becomes one and can fly around. Touching light will return him to normal.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: Only if doing so allows you to avoid the bat.
  • Can water cure it?: Yes.
  • What enemies can cause it?: Just the Miniculas.

Zombie Wario[edit]

When Wario gets hit by a zombification beam, he'll become one of the living dead. Landing on a one-way platform will cause him to seep through it, and land on any solid ground beneath. If he touches light, he'll return to normal.

  • Can you avoid it by ducking?: Not usually; the zombification beams keep going 'till they touch ground.
  • Can water cure it?: yep.
  • What enemies cause it?: Flying skeletons and Cractus.
