Archery is a 1–4 player game with three difficulties: Beginner, Intermediate and Expert. Each difficulty consists of four targets at progressively longer distances. The target is a traditional archery target, with 10 concentric rings valued from 10 points in the center out to 1 point for the outermost ring. Real-world physics are prevalent, with arrows dropping over long distances due to gravity. The only other factor to consider is the wind, indicated by an arrow in the upper right corner of the screen and a number representing the miles per hour of the wind. In later difficulties, the targets also move back and forth along a guide-rope and there may be barriers in front of its path which need avoiding.

At each target you get three shots and your points scored over the course of the difficulty level is tabulated at the end to determine your archery rank. 30 points are possible on each target, for a total possible score of 120 over four targets. In addition to the normal target presented to you, each area of each difficulty level has a secret target hidden somewhere out of the way. These special targets are always much farther away than the normal target, and are somewhat difficult to spot. Hitting a secret target is worth 10 points and uses one of your shots.

Controls[edit]

The controls simulate the same movements as an actual bow. Draw the string back to aim, which focuses a large circular reticle on the screen. The longer you hold the string back, the smaller the circle will get until eventually it blinks and a sound chimes to notify you that you will soon lose your focus. If you still don't shoot, the reticle will grow larger and soon fade out all together. Using the distance to the target and any wind information, adjust your aim, draw back the bowstring, let the reticle focus and finally shoot the arrow.

  • Remote button Nunchuk button: Hold the remote and nunchuk like a bow, with the remote acting as the bow and the nunchuk as the string. You will be aiming with whichever hand is holding the remote, so with that in mind it is not necessary to use the same hands you would for a real bow (i.e. holding the remote with you left hand and nunchuk with your right, for right-handed players). Whichever way you decide to hold the controls, the remote should be held vertically (pointing upward). Tilt the remote forward and back to aim up and down, and rotate the remote left and right to aim left and right.
  • A button: Hold the A button button down to assume your stance. This allows you to hold the remote however you like, from which position all movement will affect your Mii as though you were holding it upright.
  • Z button: Hold this button down and draw back Nunchuk button to simulate the action of drawing the bowstring. You can "draw" the string to anywhere comfortable; the Wii is just checking for movement from the Nunchuk. Release Z button to let go your arrow.

Stamps[edit]

Stamp Acquired
Bull Stampede On a single target, make all three shots 10-point bullseyes. This is obviously easiest to do on the first beginner target.
Sure Shot Don't miss the target once on a single difficulty level. It doesn't matter what score you get, just hit the target.
Century Shot Hit the target 100 times. This is done over multiple games and your score doesn't matter as long as you hit the target.
A Secret to Everybody Hit all 12 secret targets.
Sharpshooter Hit all bullseyes on a difficulty level, scoring a perfect 120 points.
