Willow Ufgood[edit]

Willow NES player sprite.png

Willow is the hero of the game. You control Willow as you guide him from his home town to the wider world outside, in an effort to save baby Elora Danan and defeat the evil queen Bavmorda. Willow belongs to a race of diminutive people known as the Nelwyn. A Newlyn is similar in concept to a Hobbit, but that name is protected by copyright.[1] Although Willow aspires to apprentice under his town's wizard, he doesn't excel as a warrior or a magician. However, he is passable as both, and his power and abilities grow throughout the game.

  1. Other alternatives to "Hobbit": Halfling in Dungeons & Dragons, Bobit in Ultima.

Attributes and development[edit]

Willow's attributes increase as he earns experience points and levels.

  • Strength and defence are always equal to Willow's level. The equipped sword, shield and magic ring provide a significant bonus.
  • Agility increases by 15 units per level.
  • Magic points (MP) increase by 17 units per level (except for lv. 15, that grants 5 points only).
  • Health points (HP) increase in a less regular way: about 24 points per level at the beginning of the adventure, and less later.
