Wellspring Woods[edit]

Treasure in Wellspring Woods
Found Acquisition
Lusterleaf Found in a bush next to the Gimme Golem, after a mirage with Stroll discovers it
Potion x3 Chest in left fork
Phoenix Down Chest in right fork

This is a pretty straightforward area. You'll enter in Lilikin form, and after a short cutscene you will be shown how to change back and forth between Jiant and Lilikin forms. Note that whichever form your characters are in on the world map is what form they will use in battle, and by extension which stack layout will be used. Trudge north down the path until you see a creature wandering around, and run up to it to be thrown into another battle. Tama hands you a Chocochick Prism, and gives you the run-down on imprisming Mirages. Every time a new Mirage is seen, you will get a new prism for that Mirage. One thing to keep in mind is that this only works with Mirages not in your Mirage Manual, so if you transfigure a Mirage into a form you haven't seen yet, you wont get a new prism when you do see it for the first time later. This isn't a huge issue since every Mirage will be able to be unlocked through at least one creature in their family, but it is something to think about when deciding whether to unlock a new transfiguration or not.

Something not explained in the tutorials is the prismtunity levels. You will notice soon that some Mirages have different animations during their prismtunities. This is their prismtunity level. The long and short of it is, if you fulfill their imprism conditions several times in battle to increase their prismtunity level, they will become easier to catch. The first level is a glowing blue ring, the second level is a glowing golden ring, and the max level is a flaming golden ring. Be aware that some enemies can only have their conditions filled once per battle, such as leaving only them standing, and others will only cap out at a certain level no matter how many times you fulfill it, such as reducing their HP, healing them, and reducing it again.

After the fight concludes, you will be shown how stacking works. Continue down the path until you encounter a giant statue blocking the way. This is known as a "Gimme Golem", a nuisance which will only move once you give it the item its looking for. Examine it to find out it wants a Lusterleaf. Tama tells you this can be found by using a Mirage with the stroll ability, which the Chocochick conveniently has. You will now unlock the menu option to view Mirage Boards, where you will be spending Skill Points to unlock skills and transfigurations for your Mirages. Three Skill Points are granted to new Mirages, One Skill Point is gained every time a mirage levels up, and an extra point is granted every ten levels. Skills which are surrounded by a white ring are exclusive to that transfiguration, and unlocking new forms on the same board will not refund you any Skill Points. For example, the Chocochick can be transfigured into a Chocobo at level 10, and will keep any unlocked skills from the Chocochick form. However, while the Chocochick can learn Stroll, you will notice it is an exclusive ability, so it wont be available while it is in Chocobo form. Likewise, while the Chocobo can learn Joyride, it also won't be available in Chocochick form. Additionally, most Mirages have a secondary family they can transfigure into. For example, near the end of Chapter 4 you can unlock the Black Chocochick. Both the Black Chocochick and the Chocochick can transfigure into each other's forms, but they have separate families, which is viewable in their Mirage Board selection. The Chocochick has 3 members, the Black Chocochick has 2. Mirages also store skills separately between families, so any skills learned or stats boosted as a Chocochick will not transfer over to its Black Chocochick form, and you can re-spend your skill points in the Black Chocochick family. Keep this in mind, and plan accordingly.

Exit the menu, and your Chocochick will automatically be on the map with you. Approach the bush near the Golem and it will rush towards it with an exclamation mark. Examine the bush, and you will find a Lusterleaf. Give it to the Golem and continue down the path until you see a floating black box with glowing red eyes. This is known as a Murkrift, which contain anywhere from one to many powerful creatures, often times requiring you to come back at a later date to fight them. Unfortunately, this one is unavoidable, as Lann hears "powerful Mirages" and charges straight into it, forcing you into a scripted unwinnable battle. Just fight for a turn or two until the Mirage kills you.

Nine Wood Hills[edit]

Treasure in Nine Wood Hills
Found Acquisition
Prismarium (Sylph) Story item
Seraphone Story item

After losing the fight, Enna Kros is disappointed you died so soon. Tama then reveals that if you die, she can turn back time to just before you entered the fight, and teleport you back to Nine Wood Hills. Enna Kros tells you about a new visitor, so go to North Promenade and find her. She introduces herself as Chocolatte, and in not so few words she tells you that she will act as this game's Item Shop.

Attempt to return to the gate, and you'll be introduced to another new character, Serafie. After a cutscene full of a bunch of chatting you'll be able to use her as a storage for all your excess Mirages. She will also hand you a seraphone, which can summon her on the field to swap prismariums on the go (unfortunately they're single-use and expensive early game) as well a free prismarium with the Sylph Mirage inside it, free of charge. I recommend fitting it into your stack, as its ability Whisperwind will become very useful in the next dungeon. Head back to the Gate, and during this cutscene Enna Kros will reveal that she is God, and then promptly disappears.
