Girl's Diary, Entry 3 | Chest just before the entrance to the docks. |
As before, head around town talking to the townsfolk with a "!" above their heads. Apparently the Low Seas are dangerous, you're a fool for wanting to go there, and they need their boats for their jobs. Lann notes that someone mentioned that a pirate ship was parked in the pier, so he comes up with a plan to beat up the pirates and steal their ship.
Saronia Docks[edit | edit source]
Ability | Mirage |

Syphon | Mimic |
Dispel | Ahriman |
Attempt to enter the dungeon, and you'll notice a cannon with a Sizzle icon on it. This dungeon requires a Mirage with the Sizzle ability to navigate, which would be fine if this wasnt a water dungeon, and unfortunately until you clear the dungeon you won't have access to any areas besides the entrance which are good for grinding xp without an 8% cut going to the Mirage in reserve. If you wish to grind, your best option is to just speedrun the dungeon and loot everything, get to the area with the save crystal, and put it away there. Also note that in order to reach the save crystal, a Mirage with Flutter will be needed in order to reach a switch. With that note out of the way, load up your party with even more Mirages, this time with the goal of activating a Puzzle Switch requiring 5 weight and 50 water resistance.

Water Seed | Station 1, Chest north of the Puzzle Switch |
Strength+ Seed | Station 2, Chest on first ship |
Phoenix Down x2 | Station 2, Chest after Flutter point |
Swirlshell | Station 2, Chest near basket of shells |
Fish Scale x5 | Station 2, Chest north of Gimme Golem |
Potion x3 | Station 3, Chest after Flutter point |
Swirlshell | Station 3, Chest to the left of entrance |
So, just to recap, reaching the end of this area requires Sizzle, Flutter, and 5 weight and 50 water resist.
With all that said, after you land you will notice a chest. Prepare yourself before you open it, because it's actually a Mimic. Unlike the field encounters, these do not respawn, so if you're trying to catch one be careful not to kill it. Ignore the cannon to make a brief detour down to the shoal north of you for a chest. Backtrack to the cannon, hop in it, activate the switch, and proceed to exit the area.
After getting the chest on the first ship, head towards the second, ignoring the fork south for now. Cannon across, head south, and ring this bell. Keep heading south, and head to the right to a Flutter point for a chest. Ignore this bell as well, cannon across, and ring the bell here. Pick up the chest and head back to the bell by the Flutter point, and ring it. A ship will come sailing in, and dock behind the Murkrift. Unfortunately you can't access it right now as the Murkrift is blocking it, and you are far too weak to handle it, but this saves having to run around activating the bells later on when you return. With that out of the way, give the Swirlshell to the Gimme Golem, head north onto the ship and pick up the chest, and exit the area.
The path to the left is blocked right now, so head to the right, ignoring the chest for now, and hop into the right cannon. Flutter across for a chest, activate the switch, and then cannon back across twice. This platform has another chest to the right, and a path back to the entrance. Activate the Puzzle Switch one last time, and then head up towards the Save Crystal. Prepare for another boss fight against the Federation Guard, and board the ship.

Arma Gem | Reward for beating Federation Guard |
Approach the steering wheel of the ship and attempt to take it, only for a bunch of Kupirates to descend on you, kupo. The pirates call you pirates, and attack you, kupo. Currently, these Mirages are not imprismable, and neither do they hit very hard, with the only real threat being the number of them, so make short work of them with a single Thundaga if possible. Afterwards, A girl with pink hair will jump off the ship and re-emerge riding a giant sea serpent. The Kupirates call her Cap'n Faris, and attacks you as punishment for beating up her crew. This fight is unwinnable, so just accept the swift story death and proceed to the next cutscene. Just before she strikes the finishing blow, the Thane shows up once again, and proceeds to whip off his disguise and attack you once more. This fight won't be nearly as tough as before, because once you get him down to around half health, Faris jumps in to blast him into nothingness.
Faris asks you to explain whats going on. Reynn and Lann catch her up, and after a short discussion revealing the location of your next prophecised feat ("The fire valleys of Babil, in the Low Seas"), the camera pans out and the chapter ends.
