Yogi Bear and Friends in: The Greed Monster/Gameplay

Controls

• Q, A, O, and P: In the ZX, CPC and C64 versions, you will have to use these four keys to make Yogi walk up, down, left, and right; you can also press Space to make him throw sweets at the enemies if he has some, F to pause the game and G to abort it. However, in the Atari 8-bit and Amiga versions you shall have to use a Kempston joystick instead - and the only way to abort the game in these versions is to reset the console.

Yogi Bear

Although Yogi's voice actor, Charles Dawson ("Dawes") Butler, died in 1988, his character (who is depicted as yellow in the ZX version of the game, due to technical limitations) returns for the second time after receiving a call from Top Cat (who says that all the toys in the world have been stolen); it is therefore the job of his gang (made up from: Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy, Quick Draw McGraw, Snooper and Blabber, and Snagglepuss) to find out what has happened to them, but when they set out to solve the mystery, all the other members are captured by the Greed Monster. This means that not only does Yogi have to find the missing toys, but he also has to save all his friends - and throughout the game, he shall come across keys (which will open doors that match their colours), bubblegum (which will prevent him from moving for a short period of time), pop cans (which will increase his speed for a short period of time), sweet jars (the contents of which he can throw at all enemies), honey jars (which will render him invulnerable for a short period of time), toys (which are worth extra points), and money (which will turn someone else into the Greed Monster, therefore turning Nathan, who had originally been turned into him, back to normal, and allowing Yogi to get to that toy machine). However, if Yogi enters the Greed Monster's room before he has collected all the money, the text of "YOU HAVE ENTERED THE GREED MONSTER'S ROOM WITHOUT COLLECTING ALL THE COINS. YOU HAVE BEEN CAPTURED. BAD LUCK. GAME OVER" shall appear on the screen (this means that he will have to start again); only if he enters it after he had collected all the money will the text "CONGRATULATIONS. YOU HAVE RESCUED THE TREASURE HUNTERS. COLLECTED ALL THE COINS AND THE GREED MONSTER HAS TURNED BACK INTO NATHAN. WELL DONE" appear on the screen, which means that you have no choice but to collect all the money (and save all the other early Hanna-Barbera characters) if you want to win.
