Firearms[edit]

In Borderlands, Weapons are constructed from a set of components to form the final weapon. Each component provides modifications to the weapon, whether it is by clip size, accuracy, damage, fire rate, reload speed, and zoom. As such, no two weapons are unique, and there is no fixed specification for a given weapon.

Repeaters[edit]

The repeater is a full-auto pistol, and is the first guaranteed weapon that appears in the first weapon chest outside Firestone. They reload quickly, but inflict only light damage.

Repeaters map be created with the following properties:

  • An attached bayonet to increase melee damage.
  • 12 round magazine (average size)

SMGs[edit]

Sub-Machine Guns (or SMGs for short) are compact weapons that are capable of rapidly firing bullets.

SMGs may be created with the following properties:

  • Double shot
  • 30 round magazine (varies)

Combat Rifles[edit]

Combat rifles are heavy weapons that can rapidly shoot bullets. In general, they have a slightly slower firing rate than SMGs, but do more damage per shot.

Combat Rifles may be created with the following properties:

  • 24 round magazine (may vary), or extended magazine up to 60+
  • 3-round burst with optics and 12-round magazine, or extented 18-round magazine

Shotguns[edit]

Shotguns are short range weapons that fire multiple pellets from a single shot. They are the starting weapon for the Berserker.

Combat Rifles may be created with the following properties:

  • 6 round slow-firing magazine, or 2 round quick-firing clip, or 12 extended magazine, or Tediore standard 7-round magazine
  • Known to fire rockets.

Revolvers[edit]

Revolvers may be created with the following properties:

  • 6 round magazine, but also seen with 3 or 2 rounds.
  • Can fire shotgun shells (rare)

Sniper Rifles[edit]

Sniper rifles are long range weapons, useful for getting precision attacks on targets. It is the starting weapon for the Hunter.

Sniper rifles may be created with:

  • A revolving 3/6 round barrel, or an extended magazine

Launchers[edit]

Launchers may be created with:

  • A 2-round magazine with single shots, or a 3-round magazine with a triple shot.

Eridian weapons[edit]

Eridian weapons are alien artifacts that may be found as you progress through the game. While they have unlimited ammo, they need to recharge between shots.

Shields[edit]

Shields are defensive items that protect you from damage. They have two important traits - the shield strength and recharge rate.

Shields may also have secondary properties as well. For example, some shields may regenerate health, protect against one of the elements, or create a shockwave when depleted.

Grenades[edit]

Grenades are thrown explosives that will detonate after a short period of time. You can get them once you speak with T.K. about Nine Toes.

Grenade mods include:

  • Basic elemental explosion
  • Bouncing betty, which pop into the air before exploding
  • Longbow, which teleport to the destination.
  • MIRV, which creates sub explosions
  • Rain, which causes an elemental effect at the point of impact.
  • Rubber, which bounce off walls but explode when it contacts an enemy.
  • Transfusion, which absorbs health from enemies and gives health to allies
