When playing defense, the screen should look something like this:

There are four options you can use to stop the opposing team from getting a touchdown. These options are as follows:

Block the Linebacker[edit]

The linebacker's goal here is to run all the way to the end zone. And your goal is to stop him. First, choose a player who you think the ball will be passed to. This will be the linebacker for the play. Try to think reasonably - like you would do, the linebacker that will probably get the ball will be the one closest to the end zone. If your prediction is correct, you'll have a chance to stop that player from getting to the end zone. Do this by sliding Stylus button across the screen as fast as you can to block the player from moving. If you're successful, the player will be successfully blocked and you'll be taken to the next play.

Block the Receiver[edit]

Blocking a pass is the same as catching a pass. First, predict who the ball will be thrown to and select them. If your prediction turns out to be right, once again, you'll have a chance. Tap the blue part of and you'll block the receiver from catching the ball. Tap the yellow part and this will result in an interception. You'll catch the ball and then you'll be able to run with it. Go as far as you can and you'll make a new line of scrimmage, resulting in a turnover. Now you'll be the team playing offense.

Special Move[edit]

Special moves can be done by both offensive and defensive players. They are represented by next to the team logo at the top of the screen where the score is displayed. Special moves can require different amounts of special points depending on how powerful they are. Choose a move and do as it says (either block a linebacker or block a receiver). If the special move isn't advantageous to you and you are tackled, not only will your health be lost but also some of your own special points. Level 5 is the highest level a special move can be. If is at level 5, using a special move is recommended. Special points are very easily obtained - you should have it pretty high after making a touchdown. A successful pass is even enough to get a lot of special points.

Catch a Punt[edit]

The opposing teams will usually do a punt on the fourth down. When this happens, choose to catch a punt. All you have to do is catch the football. The fourth down punts are usually the easiest to catch anyway. They lean toward your favor, and are usually the easiest catch.
