Stages[edit]

Stages are divided into worlds based on a theme. The object of each stage is to move Qbby to the end and go through the door. Along the way, Qbby will need to create boxes to use as platforms, avoid traps, and set switches. Unlike BoxBoy!, Qbby can now create two sets of boxes. Each stage has a limit of how many boxes Qbby can create in each set and the number of remaining boxes in a stage. There is also at least one crown that can be collected. The number of remaining boxes can be exceeded, but any remaining crowns cannot be collected. Once all crowns have been collected, the number of remaining boxes is no longer tracked. Clearing a stage with all crowns will reward a perfect-clear bonus of medals.

As you move past each section of a stage, a checkpoint is made. At any point in the stage, you can press L button + R button to retry from the last checkpoint. You can press Start button to open the menu and retry from the beginning.

Stages can be replayed to achieve better time and lower the number of boxes and retries used. Letter grades are given for the totals of each stat in the world.

Techniques[edit]

A variety of techniques will need to be used in order to complete all stage. Boxes can be thrown or set down. If there is room, they can be pushed. For large gaps or spikes a long bridge of boxes can be created to safely cross.

Boxes can also be used to protect against lasers or falling spikes. Create one box above Qbby without throwing to make a helmet.

For high platforms, a hook can used to latch onto the top. Create boxes vertical and one to the side. After latching, press Y button to pull Qbby up. If you can't reach a ledge with a hook, create a column of boxes to hook onto and then use another hook to reach the ledge.

For tight spaces, you can snake through them by creating boxes and then pressing Y button to move to the end. If an area isn't tight enough, the first set of boxes can be created above Qbby to make the space tight.

While against a wall, Qbby can be pushed away to extend out. This can be useful in reaching crowns.

Shop[edit]

The shop is where medal earned in stages can be spent on comics, music, and costumes. After completing certain worlds, a treasure chest can be opened by pressing Up dpad to add more items in the shop.
