The following times are required to obtain a given rank. The D rank is awarded simply for completing the level without regards to time (whether you missed the time limit or took over 10 minutes), and the A rank is awarded if you made a performance comparable to speed runners.
The S rank can be achieved by making a perfect run through a given level. Any slowdown, whether it is a missed attack, jump or dodge means you probably will just get the A rank.
Getting an average time rank of A awards you with an additional gold gem.
