The gameplay shares many gameplay similarities with its Am2 cousins, Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers. The combat is closer to Virtua Fighter's attempt at realism but launching your opponent in the air is easier to do like Fighting Vipers.

Just like Virtua Fighter, your main buttons are Guard , Weapon attack and Kick . Though, despite being a 3d fighting game, there are no sidesteps. Jumps aren't as floaty as both VF or FV so not too many moves are tied to jumping. There are no ringouts so there are indestructible walls that surround the stage. Every stage has half walls that can be jumped off of. These walls can still be used for devastating wall bounding combos.

Every single attack can be canceled using the Guard button except for throws. Dashes and crouch dashes can be cancel with the Guard button.

You can taunt. Some taunts can be used as attacks albeit with very little damage.
