Introduction[edit]

The Caves is the second level of the game.

It features Pits and Spikes as the new obstacles for the player.

Note[edit]

  • The player can't move over pits without the use of ladder (can be purchased at the Shop), items that grant permanent flight (can be purchased at the Devil Room) or bombing a rock next to the pit to fill in the hole.
  • Spikes will damage the player for a full heart damage.

Tips[edit]

General[edit]

- Try to complete Basement 2 or Cellar 2 without taking any damage to make the Devil Room spawn.

- The player is recommended to purchase items that grant permanent flight in the Devil Room before entering this level or try to find them in Cursed Rooms (rare): Lord of the Pit or Spirit of the Night (It's the fastest way to get the flying ability early in the game).

- Try to collect as many coins as possible (at least 15), go to the Shop and buy the ladder.

- If you can't afford to purchase these, read the tips about enemies below...

Enemies[edit]

Maggot

"Moving aimlessly around the room, dealing contact damage to the player."
Tip: They can be killed easily. However, if they're encountered in large numbers, the player should be careful.

Charger

"Moving slowly around the room, charging at the player if he/she is in its line of sight."
Tip: They have short line of sight, so it's best to stay far from them.

Spity

"Moving slowly around the room, shooting long-ranged blood shots at the direction it's facing."
Tip: They ignore the player even if he/she is in its line of sight, so the player should know where they're facing to avoid getting hit.

Boom Fly

"Flying diagonally around the room, exploding after death, damaging everything in its blast radius."
Tips: The explosion will damage everything, so try to stay away before killing it. Try to group them with other enemies as killing the "fly" will also kill the others.

Red Boom Fly

"Flying diagonally around the room, firing 6 blood shots upon death"
Tip: Try to stay far from it as you'll have more time to dodge its shots.

Globin

"Moving at high speed while chasing the player and dealing contact damage. Turns to a pile of goo after taking enough damage and regenerates if not killed."
Tip: They're pretty fast so having a high speed stat is recommended, or try to "stick" to the walls as much as possible. They receive a moderate amount of knockback from tears so don't worry about being surrounded.

Gazing Globin

"Moving at extremely high speed while chasing the player and dealing contact damage. Turns to a pile of goo then slides away after taking enough damage and regenerates if not killed quickly"
Tip: ???

Maw

"Slowly float towards the player, shooting the player if he/she is in its range"
Tip: Try to stay far from them. Their shots are pretty slow so you can dodge them easily.

Red Maw

"Floating towards the player at high speed, dealing contact damage. Fires 4 fast-moving blood shots in a plus pattern upon death"
Tip: Stay far from them, try to angle your shots or just stick to the walls while moving and shooting at them.

Psychic Maw (rare)

"Slowly float towards the player, shooting large purple homing shots at the player"
Tip: Try to stay far from them as much as possible. Try to make some sudden moves as this will confuse the path-finding of the shots.

Host

"Invulnerable stationary monster when its skull is lowered. Upon raising its skull, it'll fire 3 blood shots at the player, which reveals a fleshy stem that can be damaged"
Tip: Try to stay far from them.

Red Host

"Stationary monster that can be damaged even when its 'skull' is lowered. Instead of firing 3 blood shots at the player, it'll fire 5 blood shots."
Tip: Stay far from them as much as possible. Try to kill this monster first while entering a room.

Hive

"Fleeing away from the player when he/she is near them. However, they'll spit out flies at the player if he/she is in their line of sight."
Tip: As they tend to flee from the player, the player can lure them to dead ends or spike in order to kill them easier.

Clotty

"Moving around the room randomly, firing 4 blood shots in a plus pattern."
Tip: Try to stay far from them as much as possible.

Clot

"Moving around the room randomly, firing 4 blood shot in a 'X' pattern."
Tip: They are pretty easy to kill as the player can stand right in front of it, shoot it without being damaged. However, care should be taken if they're encountered in large numbers.

I.Blob

"Firing 8 blood shots around itself, moving around the room randomly"
Tip: ???

Knight

"Moving randomly around the room, charging at the player if he/she is too close to them. They can only be damaged by shooting at its back or its side."
Tip: Let them charge at you, quickly turn back and shoot at its back.

Bosses[edit]
