The game features different play options. Players can go head-to-head in a one-game contest, or watch two computer teams play against each other. In league competition mode, your goal is to reach the league championship with your team. A two player league mode allows players to team up against computer teams. The eight teams represent one of the major NBA franchises in popular cities, such as the New York Slicks and the San Francisco Bayriders. Each team has different strengths and weaknesses.
 
Play begins with a jump ball. When on offense, you may run, jump, pass, or shoot, with the ability to go for three pointers or slam dunks. When on defense, you can attempt to steal the ball or grab a rebound. Players can be called for fouls and your members of your team can get tired.  Teammates who become too fatigued can be benched to rest up and regain stamina.

All-Pro Basketball, known as Zenbei!! Pro Basket in Japan, is a basketball game developed by Aicom and published by Vic Tokai for the NES in 1989. It combines five-on-five full-court action with a half-court screen view, and features a roster of eight different fictional teams.
